Congress Passes Obama Youth Bill

History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.
Karl Marx

The Zeus of the liberal religion would be pleased to see his Democrat acolytes fulfilling his prophecy, most recently by passing the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act. Translating from the liberal Newspeak, "volunteerism" means "coercive servitude," and "education" means "statist indoctrination."

The "GIVE" act is now on the way to the Senate. InfoWars reports:

Under section 6104 of the bill, entitled "Duties," in subsection B6, the legislation states that a commission will be set up to investigate, "Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds."
Section 120 of the bill also discusses the "Youth Engagement Zone Program" and states that "service learning" will be "a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency."

As noted at Gateway Pundit, GIVE includes a provision for uniforms.

At best, this reprise of Hitler Youth will nationalize charitable work, using slave labor to help the State to further marginalize Christianity, which is one of the few remaining obstacles to totalitarianism. At worse, this and Obama's Serve America Act are part of his stated plan to create a race-based, Gestapo-style "Civilian National Security Force" as large and well-funded as the military.

There is nothing scarier than a brainwashed teenager holding a machine gun, as Americans may soon be learning firsthand.

Obama Youth won't be nearly so blond.

On a tip from Wannabe Anglican.

Update:

Apparently the section 6104 wording quoted above was removed from the version of this bill that went to the Senate, and is going into a separate bill. I knew I would regret using InfoWars as a source. On a tip from President Friedman.

As I said in my blog post on the subject, the Obama Youth embodies two leftist conceits.

1. There is something wrong with *you.* (You young’uns are selfish, you’re lazy, you don’t care about social issues)

2. It’s the duty of government to *fix you.* (Mandatory “volunteer” programs to force you to care about social issues.)

Gateway Pundits also note the Obama Youth will not be allowed to express religion. Thou shalt have no other gods before your Obamassiah.

And we were all paranoid when we were wodnering what Obama had in store when he mentioned "National Civilian Youth Force", just as we were "paranoid" when we said he'd tank the economy even worse and have America's enemies laughing at us.

Good thing I still have my guns.

If he wants a mandatory national service corp why not just reinstate the draft? I'd love to see a crusty old drill sergeant get his claws into some of the obese cretins coming out of our liberal public schools.

Go here to see how your congresscreep voted:

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll140.xml

My worthless guy voted yay, and he's supposedly an R. I wrote him back this morning, a very angry letter (I'm hardly polite anymore with these guys)...I told him "I cannot believe you voted for H.R. 1188. A lot of people think it smells like Hitler Youth. Why do you have to be such a RINO? You're not in Washington to be an Obamabot. Please represent your constituents!"

Posted by: Karin at March 25, 2009 8:27 AM

What is so scary about this is that he told us he would do it. We all knew it was coming and no one listened us. Now, that he is doing it, no one is noticing and saying anything. When are they going to wake up? They are coming for our land, guns, speech, religion, and now our kids. When is enough going to be enough for everyone else?

Nothing surprising at all, F'sL... Hitler wrote Mein Kampf a decade before he started implementing his plans, and they were all in the book. Everyone read it, and no one believed it, even as they watched it happen before their eyes.

I can smell the volunteer cards burning already. I wonder if Canada is ready to accept the influx of American youth. I also wonder if children illegals will be required to volunteer. Will access to college be denied to anyone that doesn't participate or will it be a federal crime to not volunteer.

Here's a terrific essay on the plans that Obama, Ayers and associates have for you, America:

Obama and the Weathermen
Mervyn F. Bendle

'The Weathermen were a far Left, Maoist-inspired revolutionary organisation that advocated urban guerrilla warfare and terrorism to sow the seeds of a communist revolutionary movement in America. They were characterised by their infatuation with Black Power and Third World revolutionary movements as the motors of global revolution, and by their rejection of the white working class as racist and reactionary. They carried out an extended campaign of bombings, robberies, violent demonstrations, riots and jailbreaks that began in October 1969 with the abortive “Days of Rage” in Chicago and continued through the 1970s.
...
We move with the people of the world to seize power from those who now rule … We’ve got to actively fight. We’re going to bring the war home to the mother country of imperialism. AMERIKA: THE FINAL FRONT … We start to build a Red Army by fighting in the streets now. We’re going to knock the pig on his ass in those streets. [Tom Thomas, “The Second Battle of Chicago 1969”, in Harold Jacobs (ed.) Weatherman, 1970, pp. 197–99]

Violence was a non-negotiable necessity for the Weathermen as they desperately sought credibility in the eyes of the Black Power activists they idolised:

“We’ve got to show people that white kids are willing to fight on the side of black people and on the side of the revolution around the world. If you’re not going to fight, then you’re not part of us. It’s as simple as that.” [p. 199]
...
the 1969 Weathermen manifesto was notable for its insistence that the vanguard role in the revolution would be taken by American blacks led by the Black Power movement, operating in conjunction with Third World revolutionary groups. White university students and other young people in America were to serve in an auxiliary role only, this status reflecting their need to atone for their “white skin privilege”, which always left whites in a compromised position within the global revolutionary movement, according to the Weathermen (Varon, p. 50).'

I don't suppose it's worth pointing out that such a law would be unconstitutional, is it? That's never stopped the government before, so why should it now?

Posted by: CoderInCrisis at March 25, 2009 10:06 AM

Stop associating Hitler with Obama. It's not even accurate.

Hitler is the most misunderstood man to ever live.

It's embarrassing. Obama, actually both parties in the USA are funded by precisely what Hitler was trying to prevent from controlling his nation.

As you can see, Hitler was right. Look what's been done to the USA.

Read some history.

Posted by: ManBoo at March 25, 2009 10:09 AM

Gregory, that part of the bill is so scary. So, kids in the Obama Youth won't be allowed to attend church services or talk about their faith with others?
I knew such times would come, but I didn't think they'd come so soon.

Teenagers can bleed just like older folks

Posted by: JamesJ at March 25, 2009 10:54 AM

Who Am I?
I was born in a small city of a large country but I eventually made my home in one of the great cities of that country.

I was not my father's only child. He fathered several children with numerous women.

I became very close to my mother, as my father showed little interest in me.. My mother died at an early age from cancer.

Later in life, questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a legitimate, reliable birth certificate.

I grew up practicing one faith but converted to another that suited my purposes better

I practiced non-traditional beliefs & didn't follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.

I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising myself as someone who really cared about them.

That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a new career.

I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as a child.

I became active in local politics in my 30's then with help behind the scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national office in my 40's. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone into anything. That reinforced my conceit.

I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no experience in leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though I were a magnet and they were small roofing tacks..

I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.. This bolstered my ego.

At first, my political campaign focused on my country's foreign policy.I was very critical of my country in the last war and seized every opportunity to bash the rulers of my country.

But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the country's economy. I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do better and every poor person would suddenly be well-off

I knew which group was responsible for getting us into a mess. It was the free market, banks & corporations. I decided to start making citizens hate them and if they were envious of others who did well, the plan was clinched tight.

I called mine "A People's Campaign" and that sounded good to all people.

I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional path of politics & was able to gain widespread popular support.

I knew that, if I merely offered the people 'hope', together we could change our country and the world.

So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the down trodden, poor and ignorant. My true views were not widely known& I needed to keep them unknown, until after I became my nation's leader.

I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated with.

I'm glad they didn't. Then I became one of the the most powerful men in the world. And the world learned the truth. Who am I?

ADOLF HITLER (Whom were you thinking of?)

Agreed, we shouldn't be comparing Obama to Hitler. It's an insult to Hitler.

When Adolf did this he:

a) was being original, and

b) did it without a teleprompter.

Posted by: hiram at March 25, 2009 1:47 PM

Godwin's Law does not claim to describe a fallacy; it is meant as a device to point up inappropriate over-the-top comparisons, suggesting that when they come that's the end of it.
It is a very useful law for would-be power-grabbers to stop debate. Hitler being the extreme.
It is NOT totally inappropriate in these circumstances to particularly draw the comparison between two men of undoubted 'charisma' who by basically speaking platitudes well, and who constantly identify "enemies" sweep to power - and as soon as he is is has legislation passed to try to perpetuate his position. This implies that next term he will do a Chavez.
A free press and a responsible opposition is needed to stop it. Do we have such?
Bill's comparison is fair enough as far as it goes. It might sound over the top, but it gives pause.

Sorry, the post on Godwin's law was not meant to be anonymous.

You know what? Let the minions of moonbattery roam the streets with their indoctrination, uniforms, and possibly weapons... they will learn the hard way, just as many radical Islamists hell-bent on the jihad, what it is to come across a pissed off Marine with proficiency and discipline on his side.

For any of you with two bits of sense, I would highly suggest spending as much of your disposable income as possible on surplus ammo.

How the heck does volunteerism "marginalize Christianity"?

Come on, guys, this one is a softball and you have to screw it up by including all of your crazy instead of the parts of your crazy that are actually correct in this circumstance.

Posted by: Anonymous at March 25, 2009 3:30 PM

On thing I forgot.
During Hitler's regime, millions of Germans said, "If only Hitler knew about this (Atrocity, whatever.)
In the coming months see how many people - including Bill O'Reilly, trying to be fair - refuse to accept that Obama knows about anything that is widely regarded as wrong (attack teams linked to the White House, whatever) as there is no actual smoking-gun evidence.

Posted by: Jim at March 25, 2009 5:20 PM

It does not matter that the 6104 wording is being put in a different bill. All the more deceptive, all the easier to hide the truth from the American people. It's even more sinister this way.

Posted by: Emily at March 25, 2009 8:19 PM

Jim, I'm sure you're right because I just heard O'Reilly say a few minutes ago that he didn't know if Obama even knew about the "war on terror" being changed to "overseas contingency operation" (or whatever they call it now). Yep, you've at least got O'Reilly pegged!

Though I would dispute the "crazy" part, our moonbat friend has an excellent point. There are a hundred ways to make this argument without dragging religion into it, and though I know many on this site are religious, particularly Christian, religion can be a divisive subject that distracts from the point at hand. In other words, it gives your opponents something to focus on other than your larger point, which in this case is the violation of civil and Constitutional rights. There are times when a religious argument is perfectly appropriate, but if your point can stand without it, then let it do so.

That said, I think what VH meant by marginalizing Christianity is that it "nationalizes" (there's that word again) what was once work performed by charitable organizations and churches. Charitable giving and community service are important parts of the Christian mission, with youth groups being a significant part of that volunteer force. If they are pressed into service for the government, then they aren't working for their churches or youth groups. While some may think, "So what? There is service work that needs to be done, and it is getting done, so who cares how it is getting done?" others see it as an attack on our traditional community institutions in general and Christianity in particular, attempting to marginalize Christianity by making its service work obsolete and redundant, both by reducing their manpower and using the coercive power of the state to enforce mandatory government service.

Someone else before mentioned reinstating the draft instead. That would never fly politically, but there is something to the idea that serving your country in the military changes how you feel about your country, usually for the positive. When you have trained and fought and put your life on the line for your country, you have a vested interest in not letting it go to the dogs. Or the left, same thing. Of course, this line of thinking tends to produce conservatives, so you can bet Obama and company will never do it.

Posted by: CoderInCrisis at March 25, 2009 11:28 PM

I got fooled by the section 6104 switch. Sorry for leading you astray on that.
