A Professor Shows Her Respect for the First and Second Amendments
Not all college students are shuffling socialist sheep.
Last October, John Wahlberg and two classmates at Central Connecticut State University gave an oral presentation for a communications class taught by Professor Paula Anderson. The assignment was to discuss a "relevant issue in the media," and the students presented their view that the death toll in the April 2007 Virginia Tech shooting massacre would have been lower if professors and students had been carrying guns.
But this sort of countermoonbattery is exactly what our universities specialize in snuffing out.
That night, police called Wahlberg, a 23-year-old senior, and asked him to come to the station. When he arrived, they they read off a list of firearms that were registered in his name and asked where he kept them. Guns are strictly prohibited on the CCSU campus and residence halls, but Wahlberg says he lives 20 miles off-campus and keeps his gun collection locked up in a safe.
The cops had been called by Professor Anderson, who seems to believe that arguing in favor of concealed carry permits constitutes a crime, worthy of intimidation if not actual punishment by law enforcement authorities.
This outrage isn't an isolated incident. A student at Hamline University in Minnesota was suspended and forced to take a psychological examination for writing a letter to an administrator advocating concealed carry permits as a way to prevent massacres like Virginia Tech.
It's no coincidence that the rights of free speech and to bear arms are the first two in the Bill of Rights. These and property rights are the foundations on which all other rights are based. They will have to be suppressed before liberals can inflict their socialist utopia.

VPI has the Corps of Cadets integrated directly into the rest of the campus (only Texas A&M also does). Could split the difference between having guns and not, let them be carried by people who will probably be firing them on the battlefield.
