Transparent Phoniness

The transparency we were promised:

The transparency we're getting:

How's that for Change?

On a tip from TED.

Gibbs is in deep over his head. Hannity is having a field day with this guy.

They really shouldn't give him so much ammunition so early into the presidency. But then again, we expected as much from Chairman O.

If the guy spoke with a Sgt Shultz accent and just said "I KNOW NOTHING", over and over, at least it would have entertainment value.

Maybe change the title from "Press Secretary", to Presidental O'Patsie... or O'Scapegoat. After awhile you know someone in the press corp will borrow from Iraqi culture and throw a shoe at him.

To be fair to Gibbs, the retarded press people ask the most insanely stupid questions, unanswerable questions in many cases.

Like "Is there an exact dollar figure of tax trouble that would preclude a potential nominee?" as if he could say "Well, as long as it wasn't over $129,000" or something along those lines instead of "I can't get into that" or "I don't know".

The Obama administration: So transparent it is invisible.

Posted by: AC at February 5, 2009 5:07 AM

Obama begins his little speech on how open his administration is going to be implying that if there is a defensible reason to keep something secret his administration will let the world know about it anyway.

What is a defensible reason to keep something secret? National security, for one thing.

Obama can make even the most stupid thing sound high-minded and reasonable - until you think about what he actually said.

That first video, I had not seen it before and it scares me a bit. What is the agenda behind it.

What is wrong with the Freedom of Information Act as it is right now, Mr. Obama? It already obliges for information to be supplied, so long as it is financially feasible (and if not, the requestor may pay), and not harmful to personal privacy or national security. I'm particularly curious about the statement regarding past presidents.

This appears to be more than just lip service about openness and transparency for purposes of simply getting elected. I get the impression that interpreting the FOIA for liberals means allowing them to actually enter offices and ramsack file cabinets because they weren't happy with what they got.

Anybody remember that song and dance in the BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS where the sheriff does that now you see me now you don't routine. Gibbs does it better but he needs the music.

Posted by: SnowSnake at February 5, 2009 11:58 AM

Sorry. In the words of our great leader, "I screwed up." The thing was the dance by Charles Durning in the BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS and he was playing the Governor. The clip is:

But he still reminds me of Gibbs.

You refute his speech with a comedy routine? thats getting laughs I guess, but don't fool yourself that you are seeing anything of real value.

I see nothing of substance here.

fine ahht

How do you refute somebody who says nothing? Gibbs is a comedy routine. So we are laughing. Of course, we see his problem. He is supposed to come out and give substance to a president without substance. You can't flex fat. You can't put meat on smoke.
