The Rangel Rule
Finally some constructive legislation has been proposed:
Texas Republican Congressman John Carter says he wants everyone to get the same treatment when it comes to taxes. He has introduced what he's calling the "Rangel Rule."
"Under the bill, any U.S. citizen who owes back taxes can pay them and automatically waive all interest and penalties by writing 'Rangel Rule' on their return."
Rangel is Congressman Charles Rangel — the Democratic House Ways and Means Committee chairman — who admitted he failed to pay taxes on rental income for years. He has apologized and agreed to pay back taxes. But Carter says Rangel hasn't paid interest or penalties.
Let's hope tax cheats Timothy Geithner and Tom Daschle wrote "Rangel Rule" on their returns.

Yet *Another* Obama appointee with a tax problem SRSLY, do any of you Democrats actually pay taxes?

No kidding V. I knew the aura would fade and Obama would consistently break the promises he made to get elected (e.g. be ethical, transparent, no lobbyists, bipartisan, blah blah). I just didn't know it would be so blatant and begin less than a week into his term. I expected it and my head is still swimming. I wonder what it will be like for his believers.

The whole thing disgusts me! How can there be two different sets of rules applied in this country? How can these penalty waivers be justified in ANYONE'S mind?
I think this year a lot of people are going to have trouble paying their taxes, if owed (like me). Penalties and interest starting on 4/16 are only going to make the misery worse. We should all get waivers, what is wrong with these people???? I hope it turns into political suicide for Obama.

Thought about doing that on my return, but then again, a tax cheat is running the IRS now, so he would probably flag my return for auditing.

I See that commenters here are discussing the important people of the Obama administration like Ten-forty Tom Daschle and Taxcut Tim Geithner.
But don't forget about Non-payment Nancy Kilhefer and my favorite, Countrywide Chris Dodd.

How do we stop this Democrat Congress from adding $1 trillion in earmarks to this bill? Since that's the only way they will vote for it!
