The Pile of Paper That Destroyed America
It wasn't a stimulus package or even a spending package. It was a socialist coup.
On a tip from The MaryHunter.

IMPEACH OBAMA IMPEACH THEM ALL

Conquered without firing a shot, yet.

If our Republic were a holy temple dedicated to what's good in man, freedom, and doing what is right in the sight of God, then what we have seen is the barbarians crashing into the temple, pulling down the curtains, defecating on the altar and wiping themselves with the scripture. They have written obscenity on the paintings and set fires in hallways to burn the art and creations of centuries. They worship the obscene and glorify death and destruction and cackle in glee at our dismay. They truly dishonor all that has gone before. There is nothing but the taste of ashes and the smell of smoke.

on-the-rocks said it. "Yet".
NEVER forget that Newsweek cover: We Are All Socialists Now.
No...not all. Note to the actual socialists: Be afraid. Be very afraid.

This is bad, and Spurwing I'm with you on that; this crap is that bad. But now what I'm wondering is, when the economy doesn't start getting better, and in fact starts getting worse, what are these assholes going to do? They know very well that this isn't an economic stimulus plan and they know it isn't going to work as advertised - so what is their next plan? That's what I'm wondering. Are they going to start blaming CEOs for not being "patriotic" enough? Are they going to start accusing people like Rush Limbaugh of "talking down the plan" and not being "patriots?" I mean, maybe the plan NOT WORKING is part of the unstated plan.

Kevin, as it continues to crash and burn, they are going to:
(a) blame it on Bush and the Republican legacy
(b) distract the populace, with nonsense junk like health care record automation and global warming
(c) claim it is working, by noting that, true, no new jobs have been created but millions upon millions have been "saved", whatever that means, and that things would've been much, much worse without Obama's plan. After all, like he said, it was almost a catastrophe, and he said it BEFORE the bill was passed
(d) they will use the Schumer strategy, and in a bored tone of voice, tell us simply that nobody cares about Republican's whining about things like pork or the stock market
(e) move more statistical reporting into the White House, and pump up the numbers to make a case that it's actually going well.
(f) Last but not least, Obama will get on TV and use his familiar adverbs and emphatics: "I am COMPLETELY certain that...." "I have total confidence in....." "We are beyond certain that....". Of course, it'll be ridiculous and absurd, just as it is now, for a community organizer with a couple months of real experience to tell us how certainly certain he is about radical structural changes to the largest economy in history, but the media will dutifully report that Obama is exuding confidence and thus helping calm things, and that will be that.
All of the above are utterly predictable. As Obama would say, I am completely confident they will all transpire over the next two years, as his stimulus package takes down our economy.

Remember that slip up by Biden... about the tough decisions that we'd not like, but would have to make? Looks like we're heading there faster and faster.

This is all playing great for us, I still say. We are on the way to the MSM turning on them. After a few chinks in the dam start leaking at first, it will finally burst after the MSM detect a revenue opportunity by taking the "expose" angle.

The Newsweek cover was a very significant chink in the dam. That theme might get legs as the other rags watch to see how it pans out for Newsweek. And it might pan out positively for them; who knows.
It is not a stretch to consider that Newsweek could be radically changing sides already. They have little choice. They can continue their decline into backruptcy as leftist agitprop. Or they can switch sides and get another chance.

Kevin R -- I think it's likely that the real plan is for this plan (and future plans) not to work, perpetuating the 'crisis/panic' mentality and keeping people desperate for help from our new, enlightened government. Small successes will keep us limping along. Remember the 'crisis' was designed to start during the Bush administration in order to have an excuse to stretch things out and never have this administration take any responsibility. So the real plan works when these spending plans don't, keeping us desperate.
As I've said before, in any crisis (especially the manufactured kind), follow the money, ask who benefits/profits, and ask what agenda gets advanced. If you follow that through carefully, the answers usually appear. It seems to me that part of the goal is to bring America into the 'global community' (sinister and socialist), and create some form of global governance. I speculate that there are neo-cons who are also tacitly advancing these goals.
Believe it or not, I'm not a conspiracy guy, but agendas are always at work no matter who's in charge. The left is patient, and their patience through generations of progressive brainwashing is finally paying off.
