Robert Scheer Begins to Smell the Coffee

Here's some news: a liberal has proven capable of recognizing true fascism. Here's liberal journalist Robert Scheer on NPR, via The Hawblog:

I don't think the idea of nationalizing, as it's now being called — which means bailing out these banks, setting them straight, then letting them go private again, which is the model that everybody is using, and the people who get screwed are the people whose retirement funds had common or preferred shares and they get wiped out, and these bankers come out richer than ever at the other end — that's not a leftist idea and it's not socialism. This is what we used to, in Comparative Economic Systems, call fascism. It's putting government at the service of the big financial interests. That's what happened in Italy, that's what happened in Germany, that's what happened in Japan.

Despite the "down with bankers" slant, Scheer is correct that fascism is what you get when an authoritarian government entangles its tendrils with ostensibly private industry.

Tony Blankley was on hand to ask,

What I don't understand is how my colleagues on this show, who I believe were for Obama, are now saying he's leading a fascist regime. Did he mislead them a few weeks ago when he was still running?

Scheer's befuddled response is something we'll be hearing more often as liberals who aren't total fiends wake up and realize what they've done to this country:

To answer your question, I am disappointed in Barack Obama and I'm not quite sure what he's doing.

It's going to be a little difficult to pretend the Moonbat Messiah is whoever you want him to be, now that he is actively engaged in destroying our economic system to pave the way for authoritarianism — as anyone familiar with his background should have predicted he would do.

robert scheer
Even Scheer is starting to get it.

On a tip from Rob Banks.

Oh Bob, you've come so far...why equivocate at the end. You're "not quite sure" what he's doing? Come on now, Bobster. Yes you are. I know, I know. It's hard to admit, especially SO soon after "O"s ascension. But trust me, the truth will set you free.

Barack Obama is a Marxist. You want to use "Fascism" because people (wrongly) associate Hitler with "Right Wing". Nope, a totalitarian Marxist will do just exactly what Obama is putting in place.

Sorry, Bob. This is radical liberalism run amok. But whatever the name, it ISN'T LIBERTY & FREEDOM!

But isn't MoomBatteryVille quite happy to see the financial industry rescued, i.e. the wealthy, as opposed to "we the people?" Don't forget MBV, it was team Bush who threw the first 700 billion into TARP.... does that mean Bush was a fascist? I thought so way back when he told us he was "The Decider Guy" of course but I doubt you all do.

I just find this site so confusing sometimes. You would think you were reading the Onion without the humor sometimes. Please make more sense.

Anonymous, just because you have all kinds of preconceived notions as to what people on the Right think and believe isn't our problem, it's yours.

"liberalism will reign for decades I love it."
If we survive that long

"But isn't MoomBatteryVille quite happy to see the financial industry rescued, i.e. the wealthy, as opposed to "we the people?""

Nope. We want capitalism, not oligarchy. People who fuck up should suffer the consequences of their actions.
Businesses that get into financial trouble due to bad decision making should be allowed to fail and free up capital.

Wasen't that in that movie "Sling Blade"? " I lak the way you Tok" are you the Messiah?

What makes the left think being a smooth talking Snake-Oil salesman means people will buy their BS forever!? Isn't the idea of this article that EVEN the FAR lefty's are starting to deny "The One". AND in ONLY one month! Clinton sold them his crap WAY longer than that, or is that just wishful thinking because you too know PresBO is falling on his a$$!

You leftist simpletons put far too much stock in being able to LIE to people.

By the way HE so impressed wallstreet it's up a whole 36 points right now. Oooooooooooooo isn't that impressive!?

In general, conservatives were opposed to ANYONE getting bailed out - that whole "personal responsibility" thing again. Moreover, in general we are of the opinion that if you absolutely feel like the government MUST do something to stimulate the economy, then the best way to do it is to give "we the people" money directly in the form of tax breaks. You need permanent (relatively speaking, this is the gov't we are talking about), or at least long-lasting tax breaks to truly change spending behavior.

Don't forget MBV, it was team Bush who threw the first 700 billion into TARP.... does that mean Bush was a fascist?
Oh, we haven't forgotten that, believe me. Bear in mind that many of us were opposed to that bailout, too. We do consider Bush's abandonment of free market principles "in order to save them" (*gag*) to be fascist, yes, though personally I chalk it up to economic ignorance on his part. It's a disease that Washington and the media that carries its water covers it is rife with. In fact, in years to come I think we will look upon W's behavior in his last six or so months in office as a disaster large enough to overshadow anything positive that he may have done.

I just find this site so confusing sometimes. You would think you were reading the Onion without the humor sometimes. Please make more sense.
The confusion likely comes from the misguided notion that the Right supports all members of the Right equally, no matter what idiotic, boneheaded drivel they try to foist on us. This is not the case. True conservatives believe in small government, low taxes, and minimal regulation of business markets. Some of us were just as unhappy with GWB as the left, though in our case it was because he abandoned conservative principles, and in your case it was simply because your guy lost. Twice. The goings-on here make perfect sense; it is your understanding of the basis behind them that is wrong.

What we're starting to see is how people who are democrats are beginning to separate themselves from the far left. There is a distinction- and that's beginning to show.

Ted, you're right. It's only been a month and people are already beginning to doubt the man they voted in. It appears even in the media some are beginning to grab the brakes and say, "Whoa, whoa, whoa- hold on a minute here." People know when something's not working. People also know obvious smoke and mirrors crap when they are presented with it, and that's why it's all starting to unravel. This is just the start.
Like you said Ted, the far left has put too much stock in being able to lie to people and have them follow.

The democratic sheep are now beginning to see the lefty wolves amongst the flock for what they really are.

ah, fascists were socialists...

he knows fascism, he just doesnt know he is working for it by promoting socialism.

this is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of what i have attempted to illustrate several times.

paint entrance on exits and exit on entrances, and you can get people to run blindly into a fire.

he thinks that fascism is not socialism
he thinks that fascism is to the right

so he works to move us to the left to save us from fascism by giving us socialism

when he picks up his head, he sees more fascism

he panicks, like now. oh my (he doesnt say god), we are losing the fight, there is more fascism now than before, i ahve to work harder.

so he and others put their head down, they work harder, and when they pick em up, the nefarious enemy has moved them even more to fascism.

everyone who has watched enough football or hockey has seen someone twisted around and make a touch down for the opposing team thinking they were being cheered on to make a goal..

BY GW, MURFF'S GOT IT!

Now all we have to do is educate the half of America that voted for ZeroBubkas, and we'll be just fine.

Great analogy, btw!

Mr. Scheer: Glad you, and some of your fellows, have awakened (at least a little bit; took a little prompting from the great Tony Blankley to get you out of your stupor, though, didn't it?). You're "not sure" what Obama's doing? Take off those blinders, ol' Nelly, and smell the coffee (to mix metaphors): it's called MARXISM, buddy, though Obama's version is much closer to Mussolini-style FASCISM (either name'll do).

Either way, the Prez and this Congress full of idiots are screwing up the country as fast as possible, no question about it. We're soon all to be Obambi's serfs, working 100-hour weeks, 52 weeks/year, for Big Brother, and BB alone.

Happy now, drone?

next lesson we are going to learn is

"what is an event horizon? and why didnt i feel it?"

[in this usage i am not talking about a black hole, but the point in which one reaches in which one no longer can reach another point. if it takes 15 mins for me to get to the train, and the train leaves in 5, i have passed the event horizon which is temporal]

Art, you are getting way to subtle. "Nuance" only works when the afore mentioned snake oil is being sold to the faithful. You'll lose guys like Trig and single stack.

Their meters only register when they think a white person is saying something "racist", they hear the name Sarah Palin or anytime someone puts forth a conservative idea. Otherwise "light's on, no one is home".

Maybe they should move to New Zealand with that guy Fier and avoid politics as well as Global Warming.
