The signs are getting funnier by the minute. I can't wait for the eventual demonization of people that mock the president, when not a year ago they were at the height of the exact same action, praising it as the muslims praise Muhammad and Allah.

"The order to remove the scarves followed three other recent events: an article about kaffiyehs that was written by a Jewish student and published in a local newspaper; Mohammad's wearing of a T-shirt saying "RIP Israel"; and an e-mailed petition from 35 Jewish students asking the principal to take action."

"Mohammad said, "I was really upset with them [before the meeting]. I wanted to get their point of view, why they were offended."

He said his T-shirt, which he removed at school, was misinterpreted and was intended to refer to the government of Israel, not the people. He said he shouldn't have worn that shirt to school because it could be misinterpreted."

"Curb appeal: Pittsburgh mayor's name on trash cans
PITTSBURGH — When Pittsburgh residents think of trash, the city's mayor wants them to think of him. With the May primary looming, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's administration is spending more than $250,000 to buy 250 new trash cans — all with his name on them.

The new cans will be placed in 30 neighborhoods as part of a program which aims to help revitalize neighborhoods.

The mayor's head of neighborhood programs defends putting his name on trash cans. Kim Graziani says Ravenstahl wants people to know his administration is responsive to their needs.

Besides, mayor-branded trash cans are practically a civic tradition. Three former mayors also put their names on waste receptacles."

Conservigilant has it right, the pace of these changes is mind-numbing. California just passed the Death Tax...as in "death of business, death of free enterprise, death of profit..."

We are going to lose all the small/medium businesses in the state. And now that the sales tax is 10 percent, I can't WAIT to see how the already dead car market will react. Oh, we are in for it...and it just keeps on comin'.

The Dems are so drunk with power, I'm surprised they don't declare marshall law, seize all private property and be done with it.

The NEA and Misedumacation in America

Unfortunately, this isn’t news, or shouldn’t be: America’s public schools haven’t merely been falling behind. They’re in a freefall compared to other nations, including “developing” nations such as Slovakia, et al. which, almost literally, don’t have a pot to pee in but yet succeed in educating kids far better than we do.

Thing is, it’s not news simply because it’s been going on for generations and, if anyone has noticed, they haven’t said much about it and those who do try to say much about it are derided as simpleton reactionaries out of touch with modern pedagogical practice.

It’s important to realize, too, that educational malpractice is occurring primarily in public and not in private schools. The latter have their own problems, including financial issues and a tendency by some parents to use them as a last resort when their troublesome children are swallowed up and spit out by public schools. Nevertheless, in part because they can be selective, the conduct of students as well as achievement and graduation rates far surpass those of the public school sector.

The causes of the “misedumacation” going on in far too many public schools today aren’t really complex. They can easily be traced to the nation’s preeminent educational organization, the National Education Association and its sister unions in the various states. The NEA indicates on its website that, “We’re Fighting for the Right to a Great Public School,” (http://www.nea.org/index.html), when, in fact, it functions as a national teachers’ union. As such, its chief interest is advocating for its membership, not for students or schools per se. Teacher salaries, benefits, rights–including tenure–are its raison d’etre and any benefit accruing to students is incidental.

This is not to suggest, either, that the NEA does not have an educational philosophy, which it certainly does, and its advocacy of that very liberal philosophy has been the major cause of our public school disintegration. The organization has been reasonably described as the educational arm of the Democratic Party and in that unofficial capacity the NEA promotes, virtually in toto, the same social and political positions that can be found in the Democratic Party’s national platform.

The NEA is ultimately behind the dilution of curriculum, lowering teacher and student standards, undermining traditional values, endorsing and promoting liberal thought, and advocating a ruinous diversity, all at the cost of abandoning the primary role of public schools, to provide a good, fundamental education. Consequently, one of its chief bugaboos is the increasing popularity of home schooling, mostly conducted by parents who are dissatisfied by a woeful public school performance and atmosphere.

There was good reason for former U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige to have called the NEA a terrorist organization a few years back. . . .

Man harassed by Secret Poli... Uh, cops for anti-Obama sign

An Oklahoma City police officer wrongly pulled over a man last week and confiscated an anti-President Barack Obama sign the man had on his vehicle.

The officer misinterpreted the sign as threatening, said Capt. Steve McCool, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, and took the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn."

Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police car followed him for several miles and then signaled for him to pull over.

''I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison said in a recent phone interview.

When the officer asked Harrison if he knew why he had been pulled over, Harrison said he did not.

''They said, 'It's because of the sign in your window,'" Harrison said.

''It's not meant to be a threat, it's a statement about abortion," Harrison said.

He said he disagrees with the president's position on abortion.

''I asked the officer, 'Do you know what abort means?'" Harrison said. "He said, 'Yeah, it means to kill.' I said, 'No, it means to remove or terminate.'"

Harrison said his sign was to be interpreted as saying something like: Remove Obama from office, not unborn babies from the womb.

The officers confiscated Harrison's sign and gave him a slip of paper that stated he was part of an investigation.

Obama to use EPA to control how much we breathe

The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to act for the first time to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, The New York Times reported on Wednesday, citing senior Obama administration officials.

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has asked her staff to review the latest scientific evidence and prepare documentation for a finding that greenhouse gas pollution endangers public health and welfare, the newspaper said.

There is wide expectation that Jackson will act by April 2, the second anniversary of a Supreme Court decision that found that EPA has the authority to regulate greenhouse pollution under the U.S. Clean Air Act.

Desmond Tutu wants Obama to apologize for Bush's saving Iraqi lives

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has warned Barack Obama of the risk of squandering the goodwill he says the US president's election has generated.

In an article for BBC News, he says it would be "wonderful" if Mr Obama apologised for the invasion of Iraq.

He also says he prays that Mr Obama will be tough on African dictators.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner adds that the UK's standing in the world has suffered because of its co-operation with the US in the "war on terror"...

He reminds his readers of the outpouring of sympathy that followed 9/11 and how quickly it vanished in the light of the allegations of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay.

"Obama, too, could easily squander the goodwill that his election generated if he disappoints," he says.

He adds: "It would be wonderful if the US president could apologise for the US-led invasion of Iraq on behalf of the American people."

[Compare: Saddam's rule killed 7 times more per year than Bush. Clinton's embargo killed 14 times more per year.]

Transgender guilty of drowning 73-old husband

CHARDON, Ohio — An Ohio transgender woman has pleaded guilty to reckless homicide for exercising her 73-year-old husband to death in an apartment complex swimming pool.

Middlefield police say surveillance video shows 41-year-old Christine Newton-John pulling James Mason around the pool by his arms and legs and preventing him from leaving. Mason had a heart attack on June 2 just after the extended swim session.

Police Chief Joseph Stehlik says a deputy investigated the death because of previous complaints that Mason was abused. Newton-John pleaded guilty on Thursday. She faces up to five years in prison.

Mason was a longtime friend of his wife's family. He knew her as John Vallandingham before she had gender reassignment surgery in 1993 and changed her name. They married in Kentucky in 2006.

SC Rep: Opposition to stimulus is slap in face

The highest-ranking black congressman says opposition to the federal stimulus package by southern governors is "a slap in the face of African-Americans."

Democratic Congressman Jim Clyburn of South Carolina said Thursday he was insulted when the GOP governors of several states said they might not accept some of the money from the $787 billion stimulus package. Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Wednesday he would accept the money.

Clyburn said he was trying to protect black Americans when he added a provision to the stimulus package that would let state lawmakers override governors who oppose it.

Clyburn's spokeswoman later said he didn't mean that he thought those governors were racially motivated, but rejecting it would hurt large black populations in their states.

The only way to get these racists to see how idiotic they are is to turn everything around on them.

The governor said he was trying to protect white Americans...

Proponents for a White History Month said Thursday that...

The White Public Works Association members in SC said yesterday...

"This stimulus is offensive to whites everywhere..."

The cartoons portraying Bush as a monkey have sparked unrest in white communities across the nation...

When will these people realize the only ones propogating racism, the ones contributing to segregation, the ones stirring the pot of social unrest, is them??

Yupo. Tis somewhat telling that the left constantly object to being called socialist -- despite the fact that every single economic decision they make is expressly designed to place more power in the hands of the state and "the people."

Yet in return the best they can come up with is "you wingnuts hate poor people and black people, and now you hate America too."

Very telling in terms of relative levels of mental development.
