New Jersey Permits Homosexual Divorce
Posted by Dave Blount at February 9, 2009 8:18 AM
Good news and bad news for homosexuals in New Jersey: you can't get "married," but at least you can get divorced.
Gay marriages performed outside New Jersey are recognized in the state for the purpose of divorce, according to a ruling Friday by a judge deciding whether a lesbian couple married in Canada can split.
La Kia Hammond wants a divorce so she can drag her daughter back up to Canada and get married again, presumably to another lesbian. She can't get divorced up there, because she's not a resident.
The fun is only beginning. Some countries already endorse getting married to animals. Whether you can divorce animals in New Jersey is unclear.
On a tip from Franco.
