Ice Fails to Melt, But Obama Still to Use Global Warming Hoax to Finish Off Economy
Another blow to the global warming farce:
A glitch in satellite sensors caused scientists to underestimate the extent of Arctic sea ice by 500,000 square kilometers (193,000 square miles), a California- size area, the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center said.
The error, due to a problem called "sensor drift," began in early January and caused a slowly growing underestimation of sea ice extent until mid-February. That's when "puzzled readers" alerted the NSIDC about data showing ice-covered areas as stretches of open ocean, the Boulder, Colorado-based group said on its Web site. … The extent of Arctic sea ice is seen as a key measure of how rising temperatures are affecting the Earth.
It's good that someone is paying attention, rather than taking official propaganda at face value. We have reached the point in our slide toward totalitarianism where all data originating from the government is suspect, if not presumably false.
In light of the cold winters we've been having, it shouldn't be surprising that all the ice isn't melting after all. Nonetheless, the hoax is pressing full steam ahead. In the name of this fictional crisis, Obama will be imposing a cap-and-trade system to suppress harmless CO2 emissions. This is estimated to cost the American economy as much as $1.3 trillion over the next 21 years.
But at this point, what's another $trillion? We'll be burning US currency to heat our homes by the time we get Obama out of the White House.
On tips from Murff, Chad, Lyle, and Burning Hot. Hat tip: Gateway Pundit.

Van Helsing - if and when the global warming hoax is finally done away with, people like you will deserve a medal for constantly exposing it for the sham it is.

This is also slated to kill 4 million jobs. Wonderful.
It will be such a comfort to me here in the Peoples Republic of Minnesota when the mercury hits 15 below again while I try to heat my house with Unicorn farts that I know I am saving Gaia from our evil human footprint.

Even when the most ignorant savage tried to appease the gods of earth and climate by killing a few people as sacrifice they were smarter than this. Sometimes it was relief from drought or maybe a rumbling volcano or just a plea that the sun continued to rise that the sacrifice was supposed to buy. Never did the societies kill themselves off the way Obama and crew plan. The only way a sacrifice to a religion such as global warming makes sense is that you ask the gods to save you so you can continue to thrive. It makes no sense to destroy the whole damn society as a sacrifice.

Maybe someone could fill me in on what this means from the site:
"MayAMSR-E is a newer and more accurate passive microwave sensor. However, we do not use AMSR-E data in our analysis because it is not consistent with our historical data. Thus, while AMSR-E gives us greater accuracy and more confidence on current sea ice conditions, it actually provides less accuracy on the long-term changes over the past thirty years."

It doesn't fit their model. They have thirty years of skewed data and although it is inaccurate and misleading, it is consistently misleading in the direction that fits thier preconceived notion. This is science the same way that Pelosi is one of the great statespersons of our time or Harry Reid is bipartisan.

SnowSnake: Yeah, that's how I took it. Seems a very odd statement to make in a scientific context.

SnowSnake -- I like your posts and it seems that we are on the same philosophical page. Regarding human sacrifice and nature worship, it is certainly true that the two have always gone together. GK Chesterton makes this brilliant argument in 'The Everlasting Man', a book I think you would thoroughly enjoy. Chesterton argues though, that it is often the most advanced, rationalistic civilizations that inevitably turn to nature/animal worship and 'realistic' superstition, replacing correct religious impulse with distorted political solutions.
The chapter, 'The Demons and the Philosophers' wonderfully addresses this subject. He makes the point better than I ever could, and he was doing it 100 years ago. (Ignatius Press for the most accurate volume).

All right, let me try this ONE MORE TIME!
Why do you yankees retire to Florida? BECAUSE IT'S WARM!!
Why do we have long growing seasons in Florida? BECAUSE IT'S WARM!!
Why are our plants thriving when those in the north are dead or dormant? BECAUSE IT'S WARM!!
Why do we have river traffic the year round when your rivers are blocked with ice? BECAUSE IT'S WARM!!
Why do we have low heating bills in the winter? BECAUSE IT'S WARM!!
A WARM CLIMATE IS YOUR FRIEND!!!
Besides that, if (I SAID 'IF') the artic ice cap melts. Canada will have an easy route between the two oceans, saving FUEL in their ships (Which is supposed to be good for the Earth) and the ice-free ports to the north will open new trade routes and bring new businesses to the areas which will be good for the Canadian AND the world ecconmy!
A WARM CLIMATE IS YOUR FRIEND!!!

Thanks. Did you know that a lot of Chesterton's works are in the public domain? They are available online along with thousands of other books by other authors at www.gutenberg.org.
Pick the format you want and download.
If I did it right, the Chesterton books that are public domain should be listed:

They're getting different types of data that aren't completely compatible. In a broader example, you can't exactly match satellite pictures and hand-written records from the 1600s and expect consistent results. They're just being a bit finicky here.

I can only hope that you failed any vaguely meteorological courses you've taken... conservatives and liberals disagree about whether climate change is happening; both agree that a warmer climate would be bad.
And to agree with our noble host, yes, yes it is good that someone is still doing legitimate and dispassionate science despite pressure from people who want results.

Who?
Why?

How about quoting all of the story?
"The extent of Arctic sea ice is seen as a key measure of how rising temperatures are affecting the Earth. The cap retreated in 2007 to its lowest extent ever and last year posted its second- lowest annual minimum at the end of the yearly melt season. The recent error doesn’t change findings that Arctic ice is retreating, the NSIDC said."

I do no more than quote from GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH LETTERS, VOL. 34, L10501, doi:10.1029/2007GL029914, 2007
On the reliability of simulated Arctic sea ice in global climate models
I. Eisenman, N. Untersteiner, J. S. Wettlaufer
This analysis suggests that the results of current Global Climate Models cannot be relied upon at face value for credible predictions of future Arctic sea ice.

Warmer climates are a hell of a lot better than colder climates where plant life suffers greatly.
