Times Online: Hamas Terrorists Are the Good Guys

If you think the Hamas terrorists who started another war with Israel by firing rockets at innocent civilians are the bad guys, you haven't been reading the Times Online, where William Sieghart informs us that the political leadership of Hamas is "probably the most highly qualified in the world," that they want a 10-year ceasefire, and that unlike most journalists, they "harbor no ideological hatred toward the West."

But the fault for the current crisis isn't all Israel's:

The Bush-Blair response to the Hamas victory in 2006 is the key to today's horror.

Fortunately, the conflict can be easily solved:

The top 1,000 people who run Israel — the politicians, generals and security staff — and the top Palestinian Islamists have never met. Genuine peace will require that these two groups sit down together without preconditions.

Wow, why didn't Condi Rice think of that?

See, they're the good guys. They even wear white.

Even Sen. Charles Schumer- of all people- has spoken up to justify Israel's war on Hamas...that N.Y.T. is one sick institution.

A Happy New Year's present from the Old Gray Slut: they will never relent in their mission to disrespect the US and her allies in the name of promoting extreme socialist agendas ... thereby, always providing VH with great material. They won't fail us, even as their stock plummets further into junk-bond status.

Keep up the fantastic work, VH, exposing moonbattery worldwide. Happy and Blessed New Year Wishes to you and yours! :D

I think that's Pinch Sulzberger patting the kid on the head (I think the NYT publisher probably got his nickname from his other interest in kids).

Al Jazeera and other Arabic news sources have pretty much stopped quoting NYT pieces. They found they were losing too much credibility. They realized that although they were almost as biased as the NYT, their audience wasn't that stupid.

d'OH! OK, so this is about one of those OTHER 'Times. Nonetheless, one Times is just like another (excepting the acceptable Wash Times).

Ergo, the Old Gray Whore won't disappoint, either. ;-)

Once somebody mentions the NYT even in a comment, it is a reflex to unload. I really do not like that paper. I think you have the same reflex.

Sure, there are other bad papers including the TIMES ONLINE. But for pure hateful, lying, poisonous, unamerican venom the NYT stands alone. I think when it finally goes totally dead forever, we should have a national holiday.

Is this guy completely clueless or what? It is a tactic of Islam to offer their enemies a "truce" of several years which they eventually break. I forget the proper name of it but I believe such a "truce" last around 10 years and ends with violence and death upon those who agreed to the truce with them...unless of course, they submit to Islam.

William Sieghart informs us that the political leadership of Hamas is "probably the most highly qualified in the world," that they want a 10-year ceasefire, and that [..] they "harbor no ideological hatred toward the West."

When Sieghart said this was he like, laughing or something? Otherwise, he must be on drugs. Heavy drugs, too. And what's with the "10 year ceasefire?" What happens when the ten years is up?

Of course, Sieghart could prove his bona fides by moving to Hamas-controlled turf, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that.

OOPS...knee-jerk on my part- thought it was N.Y.T., should've checked the link- sorry, my bad.

Snake; Thanks for the laugh...I think that kid IS Pinch Sulzburger. About the same maturity level/mindset.

"The top 1,000 people who run Israel — the politicians, generals and security staff — and the top Palestinian Islamists have never met. Genuine peace will require that these two groups sit down together without preconditions."

Bullshit! Peace requires that one side achieves victory over the other.
There will never be lasting real peace in the conflict between Palestinians and Israel without victory. Either by Israel or the Palestinians.
Victory for Israel means a two-state solution. An economically viable Palestine on the West Bank and Gaza that truly denounces terrorism and recognizes the right of Israel to exist. Once Palestinians come to realize that this is the way its going to be, then there can be real peace within this solution.
The other road to peace is the Palestinian annihilation of the State of Israel and the removal, genocide or emigration of all Jewish people from what is now Israel and the formation of an Islamic state. This solution may seem impossible as the power equation sits now. There is no Muslim or Palestinian force able or willing to attempt and/or risk war for the destruction of Israel. Things change though! Nothing is forever! Israel owes its existence to the US. Should American loyalty and resolve shift or dissipate, and the scenarios of such a shift are myriad and can be imagined by any student, Israel's very existence comes into question.

Kristy;

I think this is what you were talking about. Here is a portion of an article from last April, posted at Jihadwatch:

...

In the first place, it isn't true that "up until now, in the modern Arab-Israeli peace process, in the last 60 years, nobody has ever suggested a time frame for a comprehensive deal." In fact, this isn't even the first time Hamas has done it. We reported here at Jihad Watch on January 27, 2004 that Hamas offered Israel a 10-year truce at that time, in exchange for full withdrawal from West Bank and Gaza Strip.

And why the ten-year time limit? Not because they're getting close to fulfilling Biblical prophecy, but because that is the period stipulated for a truce in Islamic law. One manual of Muslim jurisprudence teaches that "if Muslims are weak, a truce may be made for ten years if necessary, for the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) made a truce with the Quraysh for that long, as is related by Abu Dawud" ('Umdat as-Salik, o9.16).

Note that this can only be done if "Muslims are weak." The same legal manual also quotes this verse of the Qur'an: "So do not be fainthearted and call for peace, when it is you who are the uppermost" (Sura 47:35). So it isn't likely that Hamas would be calling for a truce at all if it felt that it was in a position of strength. "Interests that justify making a truce are such things as Muslim weakness because of lack of numbers or materiel, or the hope of an enemy becoming Muslim . . ." ('Umdat as-Salik, o9.16).

The bottom line: Hamas is feeling the heat and wants a truce in order to regroup and emerge in a stronger position.

And how much simpler and clearer analysis of what they are doing would be if anyone had the guts to look at the content of the Islamic teachings that Hamas follows.

You also might find the site www.thereligionofpeace.com to be enlightening.

Taken in this light, I don't find it surprising at all that Hamas starting braying for a truce as soon as the Israelis showed their teeth. Unfortunately for the islamists, this time the Israelis don't seem to be buying it.

The NYTs need to go bankrupt and simply cease publication its less freedom of press then its freedom to lie and fabricate

And so all Israel shall be saved; as it is written, "There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob. For this is My covenant with them, when I have taken away their sins."
(Rom 11:26-27)
IMHO, Israel will not be destroyed, terrorists be damned. And if Hamas is so 'good', how come they have no courage to show their face?

Posted by: Sage at January 1, 2009 1:27 PM

Israel doesnt really need America to keep it from being wiped out since it has nukes. Its the only reason why the Ayrabs havent attacked it since the early 70s in any major way. If they tried, Israel would nuke them out of existence.

One way for lasting peace would be for Israel to nuke all Ayrab cities including Mecca and Medina - effectively destroying their societies. There would still be alot of them around but they would have to make their way through the radioactive desert surrounding Israel.

All terroists and any one that committs evil and does not believe on Jesus Christ as Lord and does not do the will of the Father which is in Gods word will not inherit the kingdom of God. Revelation chapter 20 verses 12,13,14,15,.....Read And I saw the dead, great and small standing before the throne, and books were opened. another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and hades were throne into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found wriiten in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Understand that God is all powerful he can do anything, people who have died in the sea will arise out of the sea, their bodies will connect and everyone will stand before God on judgement day no matter what their body conditon is. No one excapes judgement.
