The Obama Approach to Climate Control
A symbolic difference between the Clinton and Bush 43 administrations is that W insisted on a coat and tie at all times in the Oval Office as a show of respect, whereas Bubba didn't even feel compelled to keep his pants on. But jackets are no longer required under Chairman Zero. The New York Times explains why:
The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.
"He's from Hawaii, O.K.?" said Mr. Obama's senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. "He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there."
So, Obama doesn't wear a jacket because it's hot in the office because he's cranked up the heat because he doesn't like the cold. He'd open the window, except he thought it was the door.
As for where the rest of us should keep our thermostats, I quote The Anointed One himself:
We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.
The next four years should be good for lots of laughs.
On a tip from baldeagle390.

Yesterday on Glenn Beck he had a guy in an SUV run it during the show with the heat on full blast and the windows open.

Liberal hypocrisy would be more entertaining if it weren't so harmful to the American way of life.
American cars must now get incredible mileage, at the cost of an added $2000 to the sticker price, but Pelosi has a private jet at her beck and call.
Elitism, hypocrisy, doublespeak, media control.
Adds up to Socialist regime in my book.
Put on a sweater like the rest of us, BO.
Didnt you live in Chicago for 20 years?
Posted by: JW Wright at January 29, 2009 10:52 AM
He loves the Hawaiian heat, huh? Then why did he move to Chicago?
That's a question I'm still wondering about. Why exactly did Obama decide to move to Chicago?
Posted by: forest at January 29, 2009 11:12 AM
I wonder if he has the oven or stove on for extra heat.

I figure maybe it has something to do with Frank Davis.
Posted by: jomama at January 29, 2009 11:19 AM
I guess I had it all wrong. When Obama said we can't have our homes at 72, I had no idea he meant that we could have them at 80! Who knew?
As for moving to Chicago, what difference does it make where you live when you turn the furnace up to hot-house levels?
Yes We Can, baby!
Posted by: matt at January 29, 2009 11:24 AM
Why did he move to Chicago? To exploit one of the shiftiest state political structures in the United States. He's no dummy.

And the guy had on a Al 'Che' Gore shirt.

And the liberals come in the gas guzzling 4 mpg carbon spewing limos and make more worthless stupid regulations STUPID MOONBATS RUFFLE MY FEATHERS
Posted by: Spurwing Plover at January 29, 2009 12:22 PM
How come these guys NEVER answer to this stuff, like Al Gore's mansion? It's like they're not even capable of embarassment. Are they missing a connection in the brain?
Posted by: Karin at January 29, 2009 1:03 PM
Remember ya'll, it is do as I say and not as I do.
I actually have no problem with him not wearing a tie and suit coat, because I am a firm believer that the inventor of mens fashion was a real moonbat sadist.
We get up every morning and draw a sharpened sliver of metal across our throats and then we are supposed to tie a knot around our necks.
No thanks, I will pass.
Posted by: Varzil at January 29, 2009 1:04 PM
Weren't the wacko hollywood celebrities just preaching about how everyone needs to turn down their thermostat a couple of degrees.
I guess the Moonbat Messiah has has an exemption.
Posted by: Jaeson at January 29, 2009 1:26 PM
When he said "we" can't keep our homes at 72 degrees...he meant "you" (picture arrogant, condescending index finger pointing here) can't...he can do whatever he wants. Happens that way when you fart rainbows and unicorns.

I'll agree. I like the guy but he has absolutely no integrity.
Posted by: Anonymous at January 29, 2009 4:49 PM
Here's a question: IF there is "global warming" going on, why does he need to turn on the heat at all? Living in the South, he ought to just open the windows year round, lest he suffer heat exhaustion.
Think of all the carbon credits he could earn and saving all that gas/oil/electricity he could save! And since we're on that subject, why doesn't he just install a wind generator to pull in whatever heat/cooling he needs? Or maybe hire one of his "genius" (eh, IQ only 120? claims he's a genius??) from Harvard to invent a cool heating and cooling device from excess methane generated by all the HOT AIR in Washington??

I just worry he will be pressured to turn the thermostat down to 72 and begin wearing cardigan sweaters while delivering a weekly televised message of inspiration and hope with a warm fireplace in the background and occasionally sipping on a cup of hot Green Devil tea.

"wow, listened to rush this morning. heard the same thing. genius analysis copy and paste I say"
Yep, no recognition of the substance of the article, just a snide remark.
You sure showed him.

Turning up the heat so far you have to take off your jacket!? NOW THAT IS FUEL EFFICIENCY! I thought Barry was the king of the greenies!? Or could it just be another New York Time's LIE! This just shows Obama's respect for the office and country, like it or not lefty's - FACT....Oh,there's one for all you liberal whiners, whine away!!!
Posted by: TED at January 29, 2009 10:59 PM
Oh and don't forget..... he said everyone in Washington couldn't handle the cold and needed Chicago toughness.
Practice what you preach Obamessiah!!!
Posted by: Chrissy at January 29, 2009 11:30 PM
wow, I tend to hate hypocrisy everywhere, so I really am with you all on this. Still, one concept that is always missing in these types of characterizations about gore obama liberals preeching an environmental agenda, they don't claim to have a solution to the carbon and energy footprint they create. Its not possible to be president and as involved in public life as gore or obama and not burn baby burn resources. at this point in time. Blame whoever you want, they need to get to D.C. on wednesday. The gas in the car needs to be already paid for reliability reasons. befitting a celebrity with a hostile public (not you! oh no not you of all people)
The problem comes when we all squander resources for not even a reason good enough as jetting around the world being some kind of moonbat activist.
I wear the sweater, gore and obama don't have to if they are in the WHITE HOUSE, what does the heating system there run on anyway? are they burning the nations puppies?
Posted by: fine ahht at January 30, 2009 8:09 AM
From an article on fastcompany found by googling "whitehouse heating system"
"Obama's already on the right track: just last week he told Barbara Walters that he plans on auditing the environmental efficiency of his new digs"
It mentions that he plans to green it, and that a 3 million price tag might be worth it if iraq expenditures are held up as a comparison. $50 a square foot was the estimate for "deep energy retrofits"
so lets all thank me for showing
"its more complicated than that"
because I really want to CRANK UP THE HEAT, respectfully of course.

Funny that the deniers base their argument on ONE single regional point....as if the town they live in (or even the country) is the only piece of land on the entire planet. Because it's cold outside your door, does not mean it's cold in the rest of the world - or that climate change is not occurring.
But but... I thought you guys finally admitted that now? But but.. it's cyclic.... and man isn't doing it! lol
Posted by: crystal dawn at January 30, 2009 8:46 AM
Who here has used the temperature outside their house in a discussion about anything? Go ahead and look around for a citation.
Funny that crystal would accuse us of changing the terms of the argument, and completely miss the irony of "global warming's" not-so-subtle shift to "global climate change." Crystal, I've never denied that the climate changes. No one has ever asserted that it's static, except now. Apparently evil humans are keeping the global climate from staying at it's "normal level." At least that's the case if you listen to Al Gore et al. Climate changes, it's called Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Put on a coat in the winter. Wear a t-shirt in summer. You'll be ok.

Paraphrasing Orwell, all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.
Posted by: lvb-rocks at January 30, 2009 9:45 AM
yeah I agree that's messed up, he should not have the thermostat on.
But y'all with your pathetic masturbatory nitpicking and hatemongering... how could your attitude possibly be any more helpful than it would be for Obama to turn down the thermostat?
Get over the hate thing, it's a losing battle. Try seeing BEYOND stereotypes, even if it doesn't make you feel quite as smug. You don't sound as intelligent as you think.
Posted by: Jessica at January 30, 2009 11:12 AM
Jessica, we're just giving Obama the same respect your guys gave Bush from day one.
Posted by: Anonymous at January 30, 2009 12:13 PM
Deniers evolution of arguments:
1. Deny global warming
2. After massive scientific evidence to the contrary, finally admit it's occurring.
3. Admit it's only occurring because it's a natural cyclic event.
4. After massive scientific evidence to the contrary, finally admit that co2 levels are higher than past changes.
5. Deny that man produces enough c02 to matter. Blame co2 on cow farts, dinasour farts, and volcanoes with hardly any data or research to explain it.
6. Winter arrives, revert back to argument #1, deny global "warming" is happening because it's cold outside.
Posted by: crystal dawn at January 31, 2009 8:19 AM
How many bitterly cold winters will be have to go thru before the eco nuts admit it was all a con job designed to funnel cash into the pockets of clown like Al Gore and entire GW industry? Even many nations that signed Kyoto arent complying as it would be economic suicide. Does anyone thing industrialized countries are doing to revert to a Pre 1900 society without an armed revolution breaking out?
The Earth HAD been getting warming since the mid 1800s. After 1998 it leveled off and the last few years its been heading lower. Now some of the GW shills are saying it wont get warmer until 2020 due to mysterious factors like THE SUN and ocean currents then it will, according to computer models, spike higher. BS. Who even knows what the CORRECT temperature is? At one time GREENLAND was actually GREEN - like 1000 years ago! Were the Vikings driving SUV's and building factories? What does GREENLAND look like today? Its a frozen wasteland. When GREENLAND looks like it did in 1000 AD, then maybe Ill revisit this nonsense.
GW con artists are getting worried now that only 41% of people are now buying their bill of goods. At one time it was near 65%. Expect a full court press in the schools to indoctrinate children.
As for Obama not wearing a jacked because he cranks up the thermostat? Why doesnt he wear a jacket AND a sweater like Jimmy "The Sweater" Carter AND turn down the heat? Oh wait, the annointed one is SPECIAL !! Its do as I say, not as I do, I guess.
Posted by: Al Bore at January 31, 2009 1:01 PM
Crystal, why should we be worried about global warming when your pals wanted us to be worried about global COOLING in the 70's?
Posted by: Anonymous at January 31, 2009 9:38 PM
By the way, he said he was going to be evaluating the system. That could involve turning it up and evaluating it.
Science is not dogma, if the facts change, if the research shows that previous theories are not panning out, then you have to adapt to the new data, to the new reality.
Posted by: fine ahht at February 1, 2009 7:00 AM
hahaha ... global cooling. Was waiting for that one.
