Sober Words from the UK

Not everyone in the European press is drinking the Obamania Kool-Aid. Gerald Warner on the Moonbat Messiah's Ascension:

To anyone who kept his head, the string of Christmas cracker mottoes booming through the public address system on Washington's National Mall can only excite scepticism. It is crucial to recall the reality that lies behind the rhetoric. Denouncing "those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents" comes ill from a man whose flagship legislation, the Freedom of Choice Act, will impose abortion, including partial-birth abortion, on every state in the Union. It seems the era of Hope is to be inaugurated with a slaughter of the innocents.
Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan is like one of those toxic packages traded by bankers: it camouflages many unaffordable gifts to his client state. With a federal deficit already at $1.2 trillion, Obama wants to squander $825 billion (which will undoubtedly mushroom to more than $1 trillion) on creating 600,000 more government jobs and a further 459,000 in "green energy" (useless wind turbines and other Heath-Robinson contraptions favoured by Beltway environmentalists).
It is frightening to think there is a real possibility that the entire world economy could go into complete meltdown and famine kill millions. Yet Western — and British — commentators are cocooned in a warm comfort zone of infatuation with America's answer to Neil Kinnock. We should be long past applauding politicians of any hue: they got us into this mess. The best deserve a probationary opportunity to prove themselves, the worst should be in jail.
It is questionable whether the present political system can survive the coming crisis. Whatever the solution, teenage swooning sentimentality over a celebrity cult has no part in it. The most powerful nation on earth is confronting its worst economic crisis under the leadership of its most extremely liberal politician, who has virtually no experience of federal politics. That is not an opportunity but a catastrophe.

At least when the smoke clears, the liberal elite media establishment that installed Obama will be buried deep beneath the rubble.

On a tip from SK.

"At least when the smoke clears, the liberal elite media establishment that installed Obama will be buried deep beneath the rubble."

I should like to hope.

But the deciders have proven to be very resilient.

*Fingers crossed*

Today on Fox News Bob Beckel (nee Blech-all) said that federally funded "borth control" (abortion included) would reduce the population of poor people. That's black people, everyone. Only the left could get away with, and be celebrated for, trying to reduce the black population. And they even get to admit it on national TV! Eugenics is kind and gentle when they do it.

Looks like Obama's fakakta Circus is lurching left full-speed ahead. Soon, Kyoto, "Cap & Trade," a major Depression, loss of all the full faith and credit of the United States government, a market crash that makes 1929 look like a little dip, and 20 to 25 million (just the beginning, of course) brand-new citizens living high off the taxes of the productive (soon to be the bankrupt productive) in this country. It'll be nice . . .while it lasts . . .

"Why would a show trial or witchhunt be bad?"

Because they are show trials and witchhunts! They make a mockery of the justice system.

What a POS Matthews is.

Crap! Wrong thread. (Trying to absorb all of Moonbattery at once!)

"Looks like Obama's fakakta Circus is lurching left full-speed ahead. Soon, Kyoto, "Cap & Trade," a major Depression, loss of all the ... "

And to add that, when it all collapses into a crash heap, the Liberals will claim it was the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy who made it collapse.

This is all out civil war without the shooting (so far).

If we let people take away our liberty, freedom, wealth, prosperity and potential for success, what is left?

Conservatives must stand up...NOW...before we can't stand at all.

This is quite possibly the end of the United States as a free republic. It shouldn't happen without a fight.

Live free or die.

...oh, and Henry? Wrong thread or not, that was well said.

matt - Little excessive there. Examine a country with real problems with individual liberty (say, China) and note there is still a very wide gap.

I partially agree. Some construction is pork, but we really do need roads and bridges. When we spend government money at those at least we get a real tangible benefit.

Also, green energy is where it's at. Screw global warming. Fossil fuel is going to run out eventually. Production will be exceeded by demand within a hundred years and probably sooner. The US should retain its history of technological dominance and be ready to mass produce new energy systems, reinvigorating American manufacturing.
