Putin and Chevron: On the Same Page
Deranged by moonbattery, Chevron has been running ads calling on people to use less of its product, as if the company is run by mental defectives who actually believe the inane slogan "Energy Saved Is Energy Found." The campaign features pictures like this:

This idiocy may have exerted influence on Vladimir Putin, who has been finding energy by saving it by choking off the supply of natural gas to Europe during an extremely cold winter (so much for global warming). For applying the Chevron slogan so dramatically, the Competitive Enterprise Institute nominates Putin for Chevron's Man of the Year.

On a tip from Christine.

These companies are run by people with millions in the bank and golden parachutes ready in the closet. Once they reach the point of permanent financial security, their focus turns from doing their job to being liked by the people in power. At best they are just trying to collaborate with their new masters. At worst they are selling out their shareholders, customers, and country in order to avoid unpleasantness at cocktail parties. The cravenness of big business leaders is bottomless.

Currently, a non-moonbat, anti-Global Warming hysteria blog is is leading in the polls for best science blog But the lefties are rallying behind the moonbat candidate. A few votes for the good guys, "Watts Up With That" wouldn't hurt.

I need an open thread so I can share this. Guess what...both men are from south-of-the-border. No suprise there.
No mention about if they are now legal or illegal residents of our great country, but my money is on "illegal."

For a real laugh check out the comments there at http://www.willyoujoinus.com/discussion/. Here's one classic...
"There are a terible [sic] number of information servers out in the world and tons more personal computers. These huge numbers of computers have an enormous draw on power from the electric grid... blah blah blah"
An Oil company urging people to use less oil - when will this idiocy end.

When will the idiocy end? It goes like this:
People start using less oil and less energy because they think that is the right thing to do.
With less demand for oil there is less investment in the oil industry.
Less investment produces less oil.
Less oil even less demand.
Investment in the oil industry dries up.
Oil companies go out of business.
People tear down old gas stations in a desperate search for firewood.

Hehe - I get you Kevin - I was hoping for a better case scenario though.
I honestly think though this is a classic case of a company greenwashing itself (or in this case more likely an Ad company doing it on their behalf)
As the recession starts to bite companies a little harder I think you'll see them drop this Green nonsense very quickly. Frippery like this "use less" campaign works only during the good times.
That's me hoping anyway...
