In the olden days, you could see countermoonbattery right on TV. On a tip from Lyle.

its too bad Ron Howard turned into a moonbat when he grew up!

Posted by: john at January 7, 2009 11:26 AM

Wow! Amazing that footage of "the old, ignorant ways" still survives. Oh the horrors depicted here. Forcing children into slavery, perpetrating emotional abuse upon them and undermining their fragile self esteem. Advocating physical torture. Not to mention glorifying enforcement of unfair laws and (gasp)actually encouraging parental responsibility.

Posted by: Kathleen at January 7, 2009 11:27 AM

V the K, I hit your link and got creeped out.

One of them says "It's not a crazy habit, like, you know, drinking,..."

Moonbats drive me to drink.

Posted by: Karin at January 7, 2009 11:28 AM

Responsibility? What's that?

I was under the impression that nobody is responsible for their actions anymore. Its always some drug, some TV show, or some greedy corporation.

Posted by: Cheesecake at January 7, 2009 11:31 AM

I watched Andy Griffith last night...then Cosby came on. Ah...TVLand.

Looks like OPPIE has become a liberal moonbat TOO MUCH TIME IN HOLLYWEIRD

Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at January 7, 2009 12:27 PM

Howard - "Bush = Nixon"

Yeah, old Ronnie didn't LEARN the lessons that his character, Opie did. He's as moonbatty as the next Hollyweird liberal. Here's an interesting little piece about how he and his buddies were trashing Bush, saying he's the same as Nixon (who, by the way, what did HE do that was so horribly awful? - oh yeah, he stole some useless documents from the democrats to try to win an election). Note the article says that Howard was the "first to comment about the film's connection to Mr. Bush, saying that he had told friends in 1977 that an abuse of power similar to Mr. Nixon's would 'never happen again.'" Chris Wallace did a fine job taking Opie to the woodshed in response. Nonetheless, Howard is making some bucks on Nixon and how long do you think it'll be before we have all SORTS of liberal trash films about W? I'm sure the moonbats have the scripts all lined up on the runway, awaiting Jan 21.

They claimed John Travolta's son - they say it was an accident. Most famous Hollywood Moonbats are on board the XENU Express. Its not just Travolta and Tom Cruise.

A Brewing Storm in Russia
Can Russian liberalism survive the Putin/Medvedev regime?

http://www.reason.com/news/show/130895.html

no.

the liberalism was the same as the NEP, to serve a purpose.. same as maos thousand petals (bush? thousand points of light?), and has happened a few times.

when you want to stamp out roaches, you turn out the lights and let them come out.

when you wan to stamp out the capitalists, you soemtimes have to turn out the light, let capitalism reign, then go in and stomp em.

this is their mentality, not mine, but hey, this is how it works, nothing too complicated, aftera ll, appointees are not so swift, are they?

Posted by: Artfldgr at January 7, 2009 1:29 PM

Anybody notice that everytime Al Gore speaks there seems to be a bad storm or a drastic fall in temperature and that everytime Obama comes on and talks about the economy the stock market goes down like a gut shot goose?

When Biden speaks nobody listens so there is no effect. Even the reporters just kind of smile and shrug when they are supposed to report what he said.

I've got some bad news for them, Lord Xenu. The Marxists in the Congressional Progressive Caucus already beat 'em to it.

Everyone keeps saying that Opie turned into a moonbat, but so did Andy Taylor. Remember the commercial for Obama where they played their old characters. I will never again watch another movie by Ron Howard. I'd like to say the same thing for Andy Griffith, but he's been pretty out of the loop for a while now. Besides, there was something weird about that commercial, Andy seemed not quite "with it" and I am now wondering if he really had any idea who he was tarnishing his good name for.

Posted by: My Awesome Mix Tape #6 at January 7, 2009 2:35 PM

You're right, mixtape. Andy didn't seem quite with it. He must be in his 90's by now. That whole commercial was a creepfest.

I won't watch a Howard film, but I do watch the old Andy Griffith shows. I love Leave it to Beaver, too.

Cute little Opie turned into a very unattractive man, too.

Posted by: Karin at January 7, 2009 2:51 PM

Those were the days when television was about promoting good values like respect, work ethic, and good parenting, rather than about mocking or rejecting such values the way much television does today.

Posted by: Adam at January 7, 2009 3:31 PM

Hey Karin, I'm a Karyn!

I too adore the Andy Griffith show and Leave It To Beaver. Any show that has good old fashioned values. If I could, I would live in that black and white world of gentleness and simple mirth.

Yeah, poor Opie didn't age well, and his brother is even less attractive.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 7, 2009 4:24 PM

btw, Kathleen, I'd have to give you credit for your spot- on moonbat impression in your post. I'd imagine a moonbat watching that episode would probably also see Arnold and think, "Good kid, he's got the right ideas. I bet in a few years with the right training, he'd make a great social justice protestor. We could use more people like him in our demonstrations and direct actions."

Palin pwns Katie Couric on Larry King interview

KING: Katie Couric, by the way, said last night that she thinks you should keep your head down, work really hard, and learn about governing before contemplating a presidential run. What are your thoughts about her saying you should learn about governing?
PALIN: Well, thank you, Katie Couric, for your advice. And I won't reciprocate in giving her any advice, that's for sure, because I have respect for her and the profession that she is in. I would have greater respect though for the entire profession called mainstream media if we could have great assurance that there is fairness, that there is objectivity throughout the reporting world.

And you know, Larry, there, too, if there is anything that I can do in terms of assisting there and allowing the credence, the credibility that that great vocation, that cornerstone of our democracy called the press, if I can help build up that credibility in the press and allow the electorate to know that they can believe everything that is reported through the airwaves and through print, I want to be able to help.

@ V the K and Karin (and Van Helsing):

Please don't give the women with the baby dolls too much crap. These women are on the receiving end of Monnbattery, even if some of them perpetuated it.

You can't talk sense to some people but, sometimes, sense just comes to them and there is no other way for them to find it except on their own, in their own way.

Let this madness continue, and very few young moonbat college girls will buy into the scheme anymore.

Let the consequences play out. Support it , I say, and let truth out.

Katie Couric had the nerve to tell Palin to learn about governing? When Couric has been governor of a state for 2 years and has an 80% approval rating then she can open her pie hole. Until then she should stick to what she knows - things like cheerleading.

I know the moonbats would be cringing at the thought of using physical discipline on your child. I made sure my daughter knew that I knew Texas law enough to know it allows you to beat your child (within limits). I've worked as a police dispatcher for 15 years, and have listened to enough whiny kids in the background with their moonbat parents asking for the police because they can't control their child, or the kids themselves with the stones large enough to call in on their parents for "abusing them". A lil' skillet therapy will go a lonnnnnnggggg way!

Has Al Gore been to Alaska recently?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090108/ap_on_re_us/alaska_extreme_cold

"Extreme Alaska cold grounds planes, disables cars
By STEVE QUINN, Associated Press Writer Steve Quinn, Associated Press Writer – Thu Jan 8, 5:59 am ET AP – Elisabeth Habermann, with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, skis from the race trail in the subzero … JUNEAU, Alaska – Ted Johnson planned on using a set of logs to a build a cabin in Alaska's interior. Instead he'll burn some of them to stay warm.

Extreme temperatures — in Johnson's case about 60 below zero — call for extreme measures in a statewide cold snap so frigid that temperatures have grounded planes, disabled cars, frozen water pipes and even canceled several championship cross country ski races.

Alaskans are accustomed to subzero temperatures but the prolonged conditions have folks wondering what's going on with winter less than a month old.

Insane law to result in massive waste of children's clothing. Histrionic fears about lead poisoning result in a badly conceived law which will result in tons of perfectly good clothing being sent to landfills.

Your Congress at work. (But they promise to manage the bailout efficiently).

Thanks for the kudos, Adam. I get lots of practice with my moonbat impressions since I live within a stones throw of Seattle. You know, the place where they believe using road salt will contaminate the SALT water of the Puget Sound. Of course they believe in flying unicorns and the gloriousness of the coming Obamessiah "Era" too.

Sadly enough, even then, Andy Griffith was a screaming liberal. He has become even worse over time. Andy Taylor truly was an alter-ego.
