Obamunists Poised to Take Control of Health Bureaucracy
In a different age, this wouldn't have been so ominous:
Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Julie Gerberding, has submitted her resignation, effective January 20th. … Her resignation follows that of Dr. Andrew C. von Eschenbach, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, which will also go into effect on Inauguration Day.
Dr. Elias Zerhouni has already left his post as director of the National Institutes of Health and Dr. John E. Niederhuber, director of the National Cancer Institute, is expected to leave his position, too.
Other health agencies to have new heads will be the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Administration for Children and Families, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Tom Daschle, Mr. Obama's pick to head the Department of Health and Human Services, has told media he will act quickly to name permanent new agency heads.
What the NKVD and the SS were to the past, health agencies and the EPA will be to the future, as soft totalitarianism tightens its grip on our throats.

One counterargument for raising the retirement age is that people can't work longer, due to health reasons or the types of jobs available in the economy. While there's no way to prove this one way or the other, there's one interesting piece of evidence that most people don't about: in the past, most people delayed claiming Social Security far longer than people do today.
