MSM Applies Moonbat Math to Inauguration Crowd

Professor Stephen Doig of Arizona State scientifically estimated the size of the Moonbat Messiah's inauguration crowd at 800,000. But Obama's toadies in the mainstream media don't need no stinking science. Via NewsBusters:

Baltimore Sun:
"Inaugural crowd is estimated at close to 2 million."
MSNBC:
"Along with millions of regular folk, celebrities swarmed to DC to celebrate the Inauguration." (From the same page: "Could Inauguration Crowd Reach 4 Million?")
LA Times:
"Crowds surged in previously unseen numbers today for the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama, making it seem increasingly likely that the gathering would reach the record-setting mark of 2 million."
Washington Post:
"The official estimate released by the District yesterday is 1.8 million, a figure that would make the gathering the largest ever on the Mall."

According to AP, the bureauweenies at the Park Service didn't bother to conduct their own count, choosing instead to go with the 1.8 million from WaPo's headline. Apparently they didn't follow the jump to see that WaPo actually estimated the crowd on the Mall at "about 1 million people," with maybe another 300,000 on the parade route.

In fairness to the media, it is surprising that only 800,000 people could leave such a big mess. But then, most of them were moonbats.

On a tip from Burning Hot.

Fuzzy math that denies or obfuscates actual data is a Liberal disease, affecting everything from crowd estimates, to the roots of the financial crisis, to anthropogenic global warming. Any and every number you like, crafted on demand by Liberal politicians or the Liberal MSM, to define their radical ends and justify their socialistic means.

Car wrecks draw gawkers too.

The National Park Service came right out and said "we're trusting the headline on this one." Ummm, isn't that part of their job to lend an "official" credence to statistics for property under thier jurisdiction? Too lazy, just take it from WaPo. Abdication of duty, disgraceful.

Moonbats only like science when it suits their
agenda, It doesn't have to be true.
For example global warming.

Should've just taken a quick head count :P

"Should've just taken a quick head count :P"

That reminds me of the M*A*S*H episode where they were trying to break the people-in-a-car record:

Hawkeye: "OK, how many people we got so far? Count off!"
Solders and WACs in jeep: "ONE!"
Hawkeye: "Great, we only need 26 more people."

Did those reporters sit around and count noses twice or three times at that?
