Yes, and that was from a lady with CHILDREN. How can a person reach the age of adulthood and not realize that government doesn't work that way? Certainly not that fast. LOL, last time they sent out welfare, it took 6 months or more to send out a lousy $300. Also, wasting all that paper, postage, and labor to send out notices that "you'll be getting $300 in the near future." Oh God help us.

This is interesting: Most of the money in the "stimulus" doesn't come into the economy until 2011. So, the Dear One is willing to let people suffer for two years, just so an economic uptick will help his re-election chances?

If they aren't getting these free checks at the end of four years, something tells me they won't be returning to the voting both with as much devotion as they did this time around.

It does make for a rather interesting study to look at the outspoken civilian supporters of each candidate from the 2008 elections:
John McCain had Joe the Plumber, a hardworking entrepreneur who wanted to succeed and get ahead in life through his work ethic and ambition.
Barack Obama had Peggy the Moocher, a lazy slug who expects the government to take care of her and pay her bills in exchange for her votes.

At the risk of being censored, I'll say I liked his inauguration speech. He mentioned that hard work was a core American value that we need to get back to. I agree fully. I really hope that is something that gets reflected in his policy. However, I'm not expecting much.

I've actually had a person tell me that they expected George W. Bush to pay off their electric bill. Really. Some people are just crazy.

Still more revealing are the reactions of the two support bases to those two figures:

The right saw Peggy as typifying the reasons many were voting for Obama, albeit an extreme example, and made humorous remarks on our forums satirizing her attitude.

The left from elected officials on down wanted to demonize and literally destroy Joe the Plumber - from state officials rifling through his tax records, voter registration, licencing records as a plumber, child support payments, and referring to him on their forums as a "skinhead" and "wife-beater," and, of course, RACIIIISTTTT (I saw all of those terms used repeatedly - despite there not being a shred of evidence whatsoever to support any of them.)

I remember that SNL skit Eddie Murphy did where he dressed as a white man. Whenever there wasn't a black person around the white people started throwing money around and giving each other loans and what not. Apparently a lot of people think that was a documentary and that is their turn.
