Blowing Holes in the Global Warming Hoax
You might want to print out articles like this one, in case they start disappearing under an edict from our new administration:
At December's U.N. Global Warming conference in Poznan, Poland, 650 of the world's top climatologists stood up and said man-made global warming is a media generated myth without basis. Said climatologist Dr. David Gee, Chairman of the International Geological Congress, "For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming?"
I asked myself, why would such obviously smart guy say such a ridiculous thing? But it turns out he's right.
The earth's temperature peaked in 1998. It's been falling ever since; it dropped dramatically in 2007 and got worse in 2008, when temperatures touched 1980 levels.
Meanwhile, the University of Illinois' Arctic Climate Research Center released conclusive satellite photos showing that Arctic ice is back to 1979 levels. What's more, measurements of Antarctic ice now show that its accumulation is up 5 percent since 1980.
In other words, during what was supposed to be massive global warming, the biggest chunks of ice on earth grew larger. Just as an aside, do you remember when the hole in the ozone layer was going to melt Antarctica? But don't worry, we're safe now, that was the nineties.
Dr. Kunihiko, Chancellor of Japan's Institute of Science and Technology said this: "CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or the other … every scientist knows this, but it doesn't pay to say so." Now why would a learned man say such a crazy thing?
This is where the looney left gets lost. Their mantra is atmospheric CO2 levels are escalating and this is unquestionably causing earth's temperature rise. But ask yourself — if global temperatures are experiencing the biggest sustained drop in decades, while CO2 levels continue to rise — how can it be true?
It's going to be hard to justify deliberately upgrading our recession to a depression in the name of the polar bears when people can go online and see the evidence that global warming is a farce. No wonder Baghdad Jim McDermott wants to nationalize the newspaper industry.
On a tip from Stan.

But what happens when the sun's energy output eventually goes back up and we have all that excess co2 in the atmosphere? We're gonna fry!

Fortunately, public skepticism about Manbearpig is growing. It gives me hope. If the public can see through the media propaganda about Global Warming, maybe they will see through the propaganda about the Dear One as well.

The warming nonsense is on its last legs. It's been getting colder, and people have more important things to worry about now. Even the relentless media and academic brainwashing won't be able to overcome these things.

Yes, when a person loses their job, but huge heating bills continue to come in the mail, there is little patience for this chicanery. It becomes personal at this point.

REPEAL THE KYOTO TREATY and lets just tell all those dirty lying liberal left-wing journtalists who work for the NEW YORK SLIMES,WASHINGTON COMPOST,ATLANTA URINAL CONSTIPATION,SLIME,NEWSREEK,USA DECAY,US NOOSE AND WORLD DESTORT and just plain boycott them all tell the greens to go take a hike and move AL GORE his royal painfulness back to his estime palace to soak his head in cement

The US never signed the Kyoto treaty. Even the ones that did, cheated - most of them anyway - for obvious reasons.

Fortunately, Americans are (slowly) realizing the folly of AGW:
Americans will have two messages for Barack Obama at his inauguration today: We love you but don’t blame us for climate change.
In a national survey released on the eve of Obama’s inauguration by Rasmussen Reports, the U.S. polling company, a majority of Americans — 51% — now believe that humans are not the predominant cause of climate change. Only 41% blame humans and 9% aren’t sure. Just one month ago, the same pollster found that just 43% of Americans let us humans off the hook while 46% blamed humans and 11% were not sure. Last July, fully 50% blamed humans. (Financial Post)

Name,
Actually, we DID sign Kyoto. Or rather, Clinton signed it. Well, actually, he didn't want his own name on that trash, so he had some flunkie from the State Dept. sign it. Politically, he had to to cool off his kook base. Of course, knowing that they have the attention span of a Jack Russell Terrier didn't hurt... so Slick Willy knew he didn't actually have to implement the thing.
He got the signed treaty back & left it on his desk for like, 980-some-odd days, until his term was up. Never sent it to the Senate for ratification. Which is all Bush did. When lefties howl about "Bush's refusal to sign Kyoto", I ask them, "well, how many friggin' times do you need to sign a treaty?"

Don't think Obama will get the message. Anthropic Global Warming is too good a tool of empowerment to his end of the political spectrum and thus he can't afford to not take advantage of it.
The excuse will be that it still could be happening and that the danger is too much to take chances with not doing something and that alone will be used to justify continuing intrusions into personal economic freedoms.
AGW is horsecrap. Warming at all? Probably, maybe, one and a half degrees more total before the max is reached. If you check the ice core data it shows that the trace is not uniform at the small scale and shows multi-year and multi-decade local ups and down, BUT we're pretty much at the top of the charts. MAYBE 1.5 degrees more might be hit before we go down into the deep freeze of the next glacial period as the current interglacial ends.
CO2, along with methane and water vapor tend to increase hand-in-hand with warming as once a warming trend starts, BIOLOGY takes over and plant life expands and old frozen and new laid mulch decomposes under the assault of microbes and the microbes' output is taken in with water by plant roots and the plants get eaten by animals who spread the seeds in their waste, and more plants and so on as the ice retreats.
CO2 is actually a much less effective greenhouse gas than water vapor and 73+% of the Earth is covered in water. You can't keep Earth at a given climate state. The heat engine is pure thermodynamics, chemistry, and biology.

The U.S. SENATE refused to ratifi the kyoto treaty but i hear where KING WILLIAM THE FINK used a royal decree to get it in
Posted by: Spurwing Plover at January 21, 2009 2:35 PM
Actually my information has it that before the Kyoto conference the Senate in an overwhelming majority passed a resolution that they would veto any Kyoto treaty agreement unless it could be shown that no economic harm would arise from it. Clinton knew this so he had a state department functionary sign it and never submitted it for ratification since he knew how that would turn out. Not to put too fine a point on it the alarmists screamed to high heaven that Bush refused to sign the treaty claiming that the US was going it alone. It was already signed and still is. Oh yeah, they overlooked the other 155 nations that refused to get dragged into that BS. Alarmists never cite the fact that all of the European countries who signed on, with a few exceptions for various short term reasons, have far outpaced the US in rising CO2 emissions, and it's going up. Doesn't work. End of story.

Maybe if we just ran science as a FOX News poll, we could get to the bottom of this. Then we'd understand how many people in the Bible belt are super SUPER sure that it hasn't gotten warmer in their neighborhoods. Reviewing the data, we'd discover that 49% of respondents said, "Yes", while other 51% said, "Obama is an Islamic ACORNist." Go science!
(Enjoy the next 8 years, folks.)

I've flown into Poznan in a light twin, doing my bit for "global warming"!

Ah, this is why I love listening to the opposition. They often have good points.
Now, now, don't let this put you off conservation too much. If nothing else, oil will run out eventually (there is a finite supply). Better to deal with that sooner rather then later.
I'll admit the sea ice had me the most worried. I knew the biomass would pick up the slack eventually, I just wasn't completely sure when. Humans are awfully fond of wrecking up growth areas. Another lesson in humility for me.
I, too, wish liberals would stop being such blithering idiots and get the idea of responsible and limited management through their heads
