Who Really Cares About It Being Unconstitutional?
Today's inspirational moonbat quote of the day comes from a November story in the dyslexically edited Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Pittsburgh City Council gave its first approval today to legislation requiring that anyone report a lost or stolen firearm report that within 24 hours or potentially face a $500 fine.
The 6-1 vote, with two abstentions, sets up a final vote likely next week, which would send the legislation to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl for his signature or veto, and then potentially to the courts, where similar measures have been challenged.
"Who really cares about it being unconstitutional?" said Councilwoman Tonya Payne, a supporter.
Gradually increasing the squeeze on people who report stolen guns is intended to prevent straw purchases. But if European history is any guide, the farther our government strays into socialism, the less likely it is to permit us to defend ourselves. Before long reporting guns stolen that are actually buried in the backyard as insurance against encroaching totalitarianism might become a common practice.
On a tip from jomama.

Its right in line with this news story - Pittsburgh's newest sister city is Danang, Vietnam. Pittsburgh's going commie in a big way! LOL!

"Pittsburgh Sister Cities With Danang, Vietnam
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Pittsburgh now has another sister city: Danang, Vietnam.
The motion passed in city council on Tuesday and Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Nguyen Tien Minh from the Vietnam Embassy, signed papers bonding the two cities.
The partnership has been in the works since the 90s. It was brought about in part because of Vietnam veterans.
In February, a delegation from Pittsburgh will hold a similar ceremony in Da Nang.

it is a very good time to report ALL registered firearms stolen - obliterate the numbers - DO NOT turn it in to your insurance companies!
this a good piece of advice from an old ex-cop we once knew after we purchased a shotgun from him...
i'll never forget the mounds of firearms being burnt in london not that many years ago.
of course, then they'll want you to register any ammo you purchase...oy.

once again the news leaves out the (D) when a (D) does something bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i wrote a letter to the daily news cc'ing all the 'journalists' who wrote this morning about the illinoise governor..
basically i just said...
the following journalists who wrote articles and refused to report the (D), while having a half page of space should be fired and go work for pravda.
and the few journalists below who DID report the valid and salient news should not be relegated to small print as they are actually doing the job they are presumed to be paid for.
if such reporting continuies, i hope your paper goes under like the rest, for its a waste of paper and good trees for little real value... [hampster bedding maybe, cant even wrap fish in it]

I learned a long time ago, courtesy of a Jefferson County, LA pot-bellied cop and later an OKC police officer that the only rights you have are those you can afford to defend. They literally pounded that lesson into my head. So it goes with Constitutional rights as well.
As it stands now Tonya Payne demonstrates how this is applied by Democrats on a national scope due to poor reading comprehension by her and our courts. Only the lawyer class can confound two simple words: NO LAW.
The First Amendment states that congress shall make no law. That's NO law concerning religion or the free practice of it yet you cannot place the 10 commandments in a public place, or a nativity scene, nor can you invoke the name of God in a school or public function. That is not practicing it freely.
Obama and the Democrats do not think the 'natural born' clause applies to him. So why should the 35 years old clause apply? How about 34 years and 11 months ?
The democrats further disregard the NO LAW part as it applies to speech in the concept of the Fairness Doctrine or the 'Hush Rush' law.
The spirit of the Constitutional construct of our republic simply does not exist in their minds. They have deluded themselves and almost everyone that we have a Democracy. Just because we have a democratic republic does not make it a democracy. Because they think this way they believe that the will of the people can simply be implemented ad hoc without due process by Constitutional means.
So nanc brings up a good point. The one right we all can afford to defend is our Second Amendment right to own weapons which is well within our means. Thomas Jefferson would be right there with us on that right for the purpose of our intent. To protect ourselves against those with malice in mind against our fundamental rights of life and liberty.

"Who really cares about it being unconstitutional?"
That in a nutshell is what liberalism is all about.

I'm getting sick of Spurwing Plover. I don't care who's side your on. It's pointless spam if all you do is scrawl illiterate, insulting messages. Either make an intelligent post here or don't waste your's and our's time.
Back on topic:
"Who really cares about it being unconstitutional?"
I care. As do millions of others. It's a sad state of affairs when an elected official can so off-handedly dismiss our constitution.

I'm a bit confused here. How is it unconstitutional to require someone to report a stolen gun? My weapons are registered because God forbid I ever have to use one, I sure don't want to go to jail because it was an unregistered firearm.
Is the thinking here that we should ALL have unregistered guns so the government can't take them away? And again, is requiring the loss or theft of a gun unconstitutional? Someone fill me in.
(Hey Nanc, not sure where you live, but here in So Cal, if I had to drop the hammer an intruder with a weapon that had the serial numbers filed off, I would be in deep do-do regardless of how righteous the shooting was.)
