Moonbats Fume Over Warren Invocation

Credit where it's due: Obama made a good move by picking Rick Warren for the inaugural invocation. Although this can be seen as an olive branch to conservatives, Warren is politically centrist, and the kind of guy no one can help but respect.

Well, almost no one. Progressives hate Warren's guts for not embracing abortion and the homosexual profanation of marriage. Right Wing News has collected some moonbat reactions.

Daily Kos:
What a spit in the eye to the GBLT community in particular, and to anyone who supports equality, dignity and justice under the law.
Feministing:
So many pro-choicers, gay activists, and progressive Christians worked their asses off to elect Obama, which makes Obama's decision to give Warren a platform at the inauguration a real f*ck-you.
Firedoglake:
President-elect Obama chose eliminationist hate preacher Rick Warren to give the invocation at Obama's Inaguration. With this choice, Obama sends three destructive messages. Number one: In Obama's America, equal rights and reproductive freedom aren't for everyone. Number two: President-elect Obama likes sharing the national stage with hate. Number three: While Obama enjoys his equality before the law, LGBT Americans can go to Hell. Literally. Gee. Is this change we can believe in?
Andrew Sullivan:
Shrewd politics, but if anyone is under any illusion that Obama is interested in advancing gay equality, they should probably sober up now. He won't be as bad as the Clintons (who, among leading Democrats, could?), but pandering to Christianists at his inauguration is a depressing omen.

Obviously Jeremiah Wright or Michael Pfleger would have met with more approval from Obama's base. Wouldn't it be nice to think they may become as disillusioned with their Moonbat Messiah as conservatives have long been with Big Government W? However, Sully might be right for a change when he dismisses this gesture as shrewd politics.

Loathed by leftists.

It is shrewd politics. The Democrats already own the gay vote, no matter what Obama does. But he needs to win over religious voters.

Wouldn't it be nice to think they may become as disillusioned with their Moonbat Messiah as conservatives have long been with Big Government W?

Won't happen, though. Conservatives soured on Bush because he betrayed common sense conservative principles. It was an intellectual rebellion. The attachment of the left to Dear Leader Obama is emotional. Like an abused girlfriend with low self-esteem, they'll keep coming back to him no matter how hard he smacks them around.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Boy did Emperor O really put gas on the fairy flames now.Get ready Cali--fornia the homos will be in the streets rioting and spreading their godless hatred. Boy The O is really a back stabber. I guess this is what happens when the kool-ade wears off......REALITY!

bible believing christians, like myself, believe warren to be part of the apostate church - that church which has moved away from sound doctrine - the left can have him. he's a globalist and will eventually come around to the gay way of thinking. he's an "ear tickler".

also, did you know the person who owns fox news also owns zondervan? one of the largest publishers of phony christian self help books on the planet? they're gazillionaires, yet people around the world go to bed hungry.

wide is the way to destruction and narrow it the gate that leads to everlasting life.

warren is a fraud to the nth degree.

I guess I should put this in a Open Thread slot, but I didn't know if anyone would go back and read it.

http://www.2theadvocate.com/opinion/36359699.html

Here is an opinion/letter-to-the-editor in today's paper in Baton Rouge by someone who was mad about a prayer before a high school football game. The man says that the prayer said "Jesus Christ" and is offensive to people and goes against the constitution. I was not at the game, so I can not confirm or deny if they actually said the name "Jesus Christ" in the prayer. Usually, at public events, there is a moment of silence or a prayer, in general, for safety, goodwill, etc (not necessarily to any one higher power).

But, in general, this man just needs to get over himself. He needs to chill out.

He's freaking out over a prayer, but some business owners are supposed to let their employees have extended breaks so they can pray to Allah. Some businesses are supposed to build separate bathrooms for Muslims because of their cleanliness habits and rituals. Basically, it's alright to go against and offend Christians, but you better NOT dare offend a Muslim or Jewish person.

(And, for some reason, the simple presence of a cross is SO offensive to moonbats. But I am not offended if a Jewish person wears a Star of David, nor do I demand that the person remove it and claim it violates my civil rights.)

And, for the record, our govenor, Bobby Jindal, is Catholic and believes in God and Jesus Christ.

andrea - john 15, we need to remember if the world hates us we're doing something right!

Posted by: nanc at December 18, 2008 9:42 AM

Rick Warren is to Christianity as John McCain is to the Republican Party. Frankly I'm surprised the leftists don't love him.

Posted by: Kristy at December 18, 2008 9:48 AM

Do you think the libtards would be this upset if Obama had chosen a Muslim or Hindu rather than Warren?

Posted by: Kristy at December 18, 2008 9:49 AM

I love it. Nothing better than squealing libtards on any day for any reason.

Don't blame me, I voted for the hero not the zero.

Posted by: Geronimo at December 18, 2008 10:05 AM

Typical reactions from libtards who have no idea what they spout:

Christians in general do not preach hate. The do not condone sin and talk about the ramifications of sin but there is not hate against the people unlike Islam.

They know so little and talk too much.

By the way Andrew Sullivan, what is a Christianist? Some new-fangled or fake Christian?

Posted by: Anonymous at December 18, 2008 10:05 AM

Obama's record so far is showing that he used the left as necessary idiots and may indeed set his sights on the middle next. At least that is what we can hope for.

More and more I am glad that McCain lost. And not just because of the opportunity for the Left to shut their whining mouths for a second and do something for a change. As Obama gains experience, the left will suffer his inexorable march to the center commensurate with his increasing maturity, providing the lefties a graphic testament of true "progressiveness"; from left to right.

With the death of the unions, centrist Hillary Dems have nowhere to go. So we will either see the centrists retake the Dem party, or they will join our ranks here.

Which will it be?

Posted by: Air2air at December 18, 2008 10:13 AM

Interesting article and thread. Obama was clearly attempting to reach out to conservatives by choosing Warren. However, I'd agree with nanc and others in pointing out that Warren appears to be the kind of pastor who's more interested in preaching fluff sermons that will make him popular and successful by tickling the ears of his congregation than in preaching strong, Biblically- based lessons which can actually impact people's lives and inspire them to live for God. That style is at least a little better than the "Liberation theology" garbage taught by the likes of Jeremiah Wright, but it's still not doing much to really spread God's Word and teach others to truly live by it. In other words, Rick Warren appears to be to the Christian faith what Barack Obama is to politics (All shine, no substance).
Unsurprisingly, the libs are still furious over the decision, as any pastor who's not ultra far- left is automatically pure evil in their eyes.
It is amusing to see the left slowly come to realize that Obama is not the lefty golden boy they assumed he would be when they voted for him.

Posted by: Adam at December 18, 2008 10:43 AM

Typical and predictable moonbat reaction. I knew they'd be the first to turn on Obama. Pleasing moonbats is an exercise in futility. They'll never be grateful for what he does for them, they'll only ever complain about what he doesn't do.

Gratitude is not a quality associated with moonbats.

Posted by: Rob Banks at December 18, 2008 10:50 AM

There's nothing sweeter than watching frantic hyper-emotional moonbats turn on themselves.

Posted by: Jaeson at December 18, 2008 11:15 AM

Very shrewd.

Interesting thing, though, is: now that we got our black dude as president, the left has pivoted and redefined civil rights to be about sexual / glbt issues. And they're pretty worked up about it, on multiple fronts. Obama may have his hands full. Obama is gonna discover that trying to appease and satisfy his base of discontented anarcho-leftists is like trying to nail jello to a wall. As soon as he delivers some canned speech or other to pacify the lgbt crowd, they'll already be on to their next massive-discontent issue of "social justice" or whatever.

Posted by: mega at December 18, 2008 11:16 AM

nanc, the problem here is that everyone says "but so-and-so is heretical because he doesn't hold to such-and-such doctrine..." Which may be true, but the Christian community is so fractured at this point it's amazing it's still here at all.

My advice? Read the Book and pay no attention to the words of men...ANY men. "But MY minister says..." Hey, it's just another guy's interpretation of God's word, and it's the words of man that have screwed up everything, every time. Christ was pretty clear in what he had to say. That should be enough.

NOTE TO "FEMINISTS": You no longer matter. You tipped your hand with Sarah Palin. You are nothing but agenda-driven hate-mongers who don't give a DAMN about women or women's rights or women's achievements. So once and for all, shut up and sit down.

Posted by: matt at December 18, 2008 11:48 AM

1) Exactly. Rob Banks said:
"Pleasing moonbats is an exercise in futility"
How true! Vote for the black guy. Whoops, black people voted the Prop 8. Pick a "softy-touchy-feely" minister for inauguration instead of a fiery baptist. Whoops, mega-moonies hate all things spiritual or morally grounded.

2) Does Andrew Sullivan EVER think about ANYTHING other than how gay, gay, gay he is? Doesn't that sound like a mental disease?

3) I'm so tired of the moonbats misusing "hate" all the time. (we get it here from anon.) I'm as tired of that as I am of the word "oppression."

Posted by: Karin at December 18, 2008 11:55 AM

"President-elect Obama likes sharing the national stage with hate"

Isn't this the funniest thing ever. The dems state that Warren stands for hate. Hmmm. The dems are fu*cking baby killers! Hate? I would argue that affording queers the right to a civil union, while saying that marriage is for one man and one woman, is far less hateful than KILLING an innocent unborn fetus. But these morons want woman to have abortions on demand. Kill all they want and when they make the same "mistake" again, kill all they want a second time. These libs are a friggin disaster.

Posted by: leftwingsmasher at December 18, 2008 12:00 PM

matt - i agree wholeheartedly! people are more than capable of letting you down, God never will.

as for the libbers and palin - all they heaped on palin they're taking back with caroline "camelot" kennedy - i've not been able to believe my ears the talk about how "she's a mother" "she's run a household" "she's a kennedy" - blah-blah-blah-blah!

Posted by: nanc at December 18, 2008 12:55 PM

nanc, ain't that the truth! Well, I for one (and I'll make a leap and assume you also) will NEVER let those shrews forget what they did. They are THROUGH in the public dicourse, at least as far as having any credibility. To then turn around and praise Caroline Kennedy! OH MAN! With a straight face, yet!

As for the other issue, I'm glad we agree. I keep thinking that a minister should be virtually invisible. It's about God's words, not someone who reads (and interprets) them. My feeling anyhow.

Posted by: matt at December 18, 2008 1:52 PM

If he or whoever pulls his strings thinks this choice is reaching out to "conservatives" it betrays their fundamental lack of understanding of Christianity and conservatism.

Now, you must understand, the term "hate" has been redefined by the PC lefties, and no longer means what we grew up with it meaning, what you find in the dictionary if you look it up. Now it's more along the lines of "doesn't openly embrace and celebrate the dogma of ___". You don't have to actually HATE something to hate it, just not french kiss its ass, that is, as long as it's one of the anointed causes.

Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at December 18, 2008 2:18 PM

He hasn't even been sworn in and the lefties are critcising him! We haven't seen anything like this since Bush won in 2000!

Posted by: KHarn at December 18, 2008 6:34 PM

G...don't do that. Really. Not here.

KHarn, as much as I don't like this aspect of my personality, there is some dark perverse pleasure in seeing the hateful left start to turn on their own...before they're even in power! Maybe they just have such a visceral need to hate, than no matter WHO is in there, they hate 'em.

Posted by: matt at December 18, 2008 8:44 PM

Wow, you "Warren is not a real Christian" people are pathetic. I think when we all meet Christ we'll all learn we got certain part of our theology wrong. What exactly does Warren preach thats not in line with the Bible. I only get "he message seems soft." I guess "repent or go to hell" must be mentioned in every sermon to be biblical. I believe in hell, but there is so much more to the Bible than just that.

Posted by: Andrew at December 18, 2008 9:48 PM

Obama supporters are like moths to a flame. No matter how many times he burns them, they'll always come back. It's tragic when you think about it.

Posted by: conservativeteen at December 18, 2008 10:51 PM

This is AWESOME!!! Hopefully EVERY delusional/stupid voter who elected this fraud will see the light and get MAJOR buyer's remorse and exercise that remorse in 2010 (by electing true Conservatives to Congress) and in 2012 (by electing true Conservatives to the White House and the Congress. I'm enjoying this in-fighting. Hopefully between this in-fighting and the Illinois political scandal and investigations will cause BHO & Company's downfall and disillusion the Democrats enough to throw away their Liberalism and embrace Conservatism.

Posted by: Amy D at December 19, 2008 3:20 AM

Just popped over to the GailyKos, and there are 644 comments on this topic. Boy, is there some handwringing buyer's remorse going on. I get the feeling that these gay people won't be happy unless every one of us actually turns gay. Otherwise, we're obviously full of seething hate and bigotry.

Their fearless leader over there is urging his followers to not shut up about this, otherwise, Obama will kowtow to the conservatives. IMO, if they don't shut up, people, including Obama, are going to get mighty weary of them and whatever cause they think they have.

Posted by: Karin at December 19, 2008 7:06 AM

Obviously anyone who calls Warren a Hate preacher has never ever listened to him preach. But I forgot, if you disagree with the leftists...you are obviously a hate monger.
