Marines Unenthused by Moonbat Messiah Visit

One reason moonbats are still gloating over the disastrous election last month is that it allowed them to poke a finger in the eye of the armed forces they so hate. Unsurprisingly, it is not appreciated:

President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening. …
As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

W's reception tends to be a bit more enthusiastic. But then, W hasn't promised to gut the military, or to render heroic sacrifices made in Iraq meaningless by surrendering.

Elections have consequences; our shameful folly last fall will inevitably take its toll on military morale.

Of course BHO got a cool reception. He's no friend of our military, even if he'll be commander-in-chief in a few days.

Though because of the bad economy they will continue to attract new recruits (probably alot of inner city gang members), the overall quality of the military will fall as many experienced career military could retire, refusing to serve under a doofus like Obama - if polls on military.com are reflective of discontent in the military.

And don't forget he blew off the hospitalized servicemen in Germany. Where I live is home to the 10th Mountain Division. Our NY state election map shows an island of red in a deep blue sea.

I misread the title!I thought it said "Marines EUTHANISED By Moonbat Messiah Visit"! I pictured this:
GASP! "The speech... so Liberal, so... BORING!" GROAN! "shoot me, brother! You wouldn't let a dog suffer this way!"

As for not "weaponising space", back when AIRPLANES had started to become common, an army officer had pointed out that it was a smart tactic to "take the high ground" and airplanes could MAKE their own "high ground".
We should remember this bit of wisdom.

KHarn; that will be in Febuary??!!??

I got out when the idiot carter took over and showed us how to ruin a country.
I understand how the Brave felt when insult walked through the door.

I was honored to serve under Bush Sr and then again under his son. As for Slick Willy, I was sickened by him and actually had to salute him.

It was awful funny how people who were in the Clinton's way, like Ron Brown and Vince Foster, conveniently dying.

Secondly, Democrats inspire leadership as much as a wet dishrag.

Who cares about those losers anyway?

Not you liberal idiots, that's for sure. You pretend to care about Vets when it suits you. What do any of you liberal jerks actually DO for Vets, yourselves? Damned little.

While the troops are out there risking and giving their lives, you are back home here calling them baby killers and fools.

Certainly not anyone here.

Yeah, as a 22 year veteran, I could care less about my brothers in arms. I wouldn't donate money and time to DAV or other charities for Vets.

You need to stop making things up.

You send your damaged troops to live in the streets of our liberal cities after you've used them up.

Again, you need to stop making things up.

I am glad I could serve and help keep this nation safe so craven little lick spittle keyboard commandos like you can insult moral, hard working America men and women.

Also, I am happy that I can work hard and pay taxes so you and many of your fellow leeches can stay home and pound the keyboards all day.

Why do libs hate the Military? Because they know the military tends to be conservative, patriotic, self-sacrificing, humble, and highly intelligent.

All the things that the left-wing is not and can never be.

KHarn;

Of course it goes without saying (at least among those with the ability to think, so dino is out) that OUR not 'weaponizing' space won't do dick-all to stop EVERYBODY ELSE from doing so.

Shit, they don't need to actually bomb us on the ground to bring us to our knees. A few well-placed nukes in low earth orbit and a few more out by the geo-synchronous sats, and all communications are pretty much kaput.

>>Shit, they don't need to actually bomb us on the ground to bring us to our knees.

Awhile back there was a show on TV that named "the ten greatest weapon systems". It was disappointing in that they named INDEVIDUAL weapons rather than actual weapon systems, so I made my own list. At number one, I chose PROPIGANDA; you don't need to wait for a war to use it and your enemys --DINO-- will spread it for you. Propiganda lost us the Viet Nam War and it will cause us to lose the Muslim War today.

The sodomite bong-water brigade has chimed in, once again.

First of all, when in a dining facility, NOBODY entering has any reason to expect anyone to stand at attention. It is an exception to the rule where personnel are normally called to attention when a senior officer, particularly a commander, enters a room or facility. So I wouldn't try and read into much of what is said in a very poor article from ABC and Sunlen Miller.

Second, after spelling Kaneohe incorrectly, they also moved it geographically to Kailua. If the "journalist" cannot get basic details correct, then I wouldn't put much faith in the rest of the story's contents.

Marines are very professional and they were correct to stand when speaking with Obama face to face but there was no reason for them to come to attention. Reading into an event like this one thing or another is a stretch. I don't think it is an effective way to gauge Obama's current status/popularity with members of the military or his chances of success as a future C-in-C.

He might have fared better on the visit if he had asked to stand in the serving line and fix plates which would have given him a chance to do brief exchanges, say "hello", and not disrupt anyone sitting at a table. His handlers have a lot to learn but that he decided to stop in and say "hello" isn't wrong but I think it would have been if he had failed to do so since he was staying only a few miles away.

I didn't vote for the guy but I'm still active duty and I really don't worry about stuff like this other than I wouldn't want anyone from ABC around my food. (I'm surprised those big fly-blowers at the doors didn't keep Sunlen Miller and the rest of the media swarm out.) The real measure of Obama is yet to come and we'll just have to do the best we can.

I think you are missing the point of this article.

Typically (and I have seen this first hand) when President Bush would come in when we were having chow he was greeted by spontaneous applause and troops rising to their feet.

We weren't expected to do this, either, but we did it regardless because most (if not all) of them men and women I served with liked and trusted President Bush.

That these Marines didn't greet him as enthusiastically, I think, is a very good sign they do not trust this soon-to-be Commander in Chief yet.

Anon,

Of course he will not be as popular with troops as our current president but I see it as a sign of what amounts to a "wait and see" attitude during which we can expect to see Marines remain as professional as ever.

My comment about the media also stands: No media in the chow hall!
