Gray Lady to Go Belly Up in 2009?
Here is my favorite prediction for 2009: the New York Times, the appallingly irresponsible flagship publication of the liberal elite establishment, which lays down the marching orders for the propagandists of the alphabet networks, may finally roll over and die next year:
The New York Times (NYT) has to repay $400 million in debt in the first half of 2009. It does not have the money. It plans to mortgage its headquarters, but it is uncertain what that will bring in an uncertain real estate market. The firm's Boston Globe and regional newspaper operations lose money, so they will be hard to sell. NYT is controlled by the Sulzberger family which has super-majority voting shares. That won't matter much when the company runs out of money. Another big media operation, perhaps News Corp (NWS) which owns The Wall Street Journal and The New York Post, will come in and auction off what it can and keep the flagship New York Times newspaper and NYTimes.com website.
The Times et al. managed to hype the Moonbat Messiah into the White House, but it may be their last hurrah. Rupert Murdoch of Fox News fame taking control of the Gray Lady's skeletal remnants would prove there's such a thing as justice after all. Here's wishing a Happy New Year to all the barking moonbats on the Slimes's editorial board!

Let me be the first to plunge a wooden stake into this vampire's "heart". Ithink I will make it a wooden cross.
Merry CHRISTnmas, people! Passing White Christmas Jewel Fudge out to all men of good will here. The rest of you know what you get.

What would be cool would be a bailout for the NY Times but first they have to agree to the Weekly Standard guys overseeing their editorial page and policies, Murdock overseeing business operations, and Petraeus providing approval on all foreign, military, and intelligence related items, until such time as the NYT is deemed to meet minimal journalistic standards for a jr high school publication.

Quick! Cover the NYTimes with part of the $700B TARP! We mustn't let her fail. How could the US possibly survive without the NYTimes?

p.s. those of us who grew up in the 70's in Brooklyn grew up with the NYT on the kitcken table EVERY morning, alongside the bagels and coffee. It WAS the paper of record. Everything else was commentary; the NYTimes by definition was the "fact". It's sad to see its demise. But "sad" in the way it's sad to see an insane sister finally sent off to an institution - it's something that just has to happen, the time has come.

Great picture. The one thing I'll always remember about Bill Keller was when he was asked why he committed treason by reporting national security secrets, he smugly replied that he leaked them simply because they were secret.
Anything to further the jihad, I guess.

Gray Lady to Go Belly Up in 2009?
Ha! What a wonderful Christmas present that would be!

Dollars to donuts the NYT will be saved by a mystery investor and continue to spew it's ilk to an even greater population. (read, become the peoples press, a subsidiary of the new citizens security branch of Obama's freedom of homeland information department) There are several large and small newspapers poised to be taken over by just such a department, funded, of course by 'transparent' donors. Don't you get it? Transparent is the new black. Blindness is the new vision. Treason is the new patriotism.

It is likely that the NYT will be bailed out by the taxpayers or George Soros.

George Soros, yes. But, if a taxpayer bailout was proposed, there would be such an uproar from 50% of the population that it could never happen. If George wants to bleed his money away, I don't care. It will at least keep some pressmen employed. I will continue to ignore the rag.

The NYT should cut circulation down to just the New York metropolitan area and become one of those freebie newspapers that advertise escorts and personals. I think that would be a fitting end.

Soros is not in the greatest financial shape either. I don't know that he can bail out a mess as big as the NYT.

Murdoch is universally reviled among the media elite populated by Pinch et al. as a guy who publishes tabloids and just generally a dirty capitalist pig.
It would be the sweetest justice to see Pinch's conniption fits if he had to choose between Chapter 11 and being bought out by Murdoch.

Hopefully, the fake email they published they thought was from the Paris Mayor might show a lot of people that the Gray Lady with it's pants down really is a transvestite...
