Global Warming Hits Southwest
While Al Gore screams that the polar ice caps will be melted within 5 years, and AP demands totalitarian measures, back in the real world, it keeps getting colder.
In Las Vegas:
A rare winter storm swept through Southern Nevada Wednesday, dumping the most snow on the valley in nearly three decades, grounding flights at the airport, forcing the closure of major highways and closing schools for today.
"This is the most snow we've had in Las Vegas in almost 30 years," said Chris Stachelski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
In balmy California:
Snow snarled major mountain highways and even dusted Malibu on Wednesday as a cold storm hit parts of California. … Styming thousands of commuters and travelers, snow shut Interstate 15 over 4,190-foot Cajon Pass east of Los Angeles and roads through the San Gabriel Mountains connecting metropolitan Los Angeles to the commuter suburbs of Palmdale and Lancaster in the high desert to the north.
Los Angeles commuters haven't seen anything like it in 15 years. Even the San Diego area has been hit. It may be fun for snow boarders, but there is a downside:
Freeze warnings were issued for late Wednesday through Thursday morning for the Sacramento Valley, the northern San Joaquin Valley and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta region, among others.
"A freeze warning means subfreezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation," the NWS said.
Freeze warnings were also issued for north San Francisco Bay area valleys, and a combination of frost advisories and freeze warnings were issued for parts of southwestern California.
As humans have known since before we could talk, cold weather is a bigger problem than warm weather. Unfortunately, our cooling climate is real, whereas global warming is an increasingly preposterous farce.

Weather is not climate. Contrary temperature data is irrelevant. Solar activity is irrelevant. Climate cycles are irrelevant. All scientists agree. Global warming is caused by human consumption of fossil fuels. Carbon is evil. Humanity is a carbon-based life form. Therefore, humanity is evil.
(Repeat every time the Global Warming dogma is challenged.)

I've been working in and around BArstow, California for about 3 weeks now (halfway between Vegas and LA) we almost got stuck on the base at Ft. Irwin on Monday because the road got closed due to snow. Let me reiterate that: the only road in and out of a major US Army installation in the Mojave desert got shut down because of snow.
About 4 inches worth in 8 hours.
Yesterday was a snow day due to the next wave of white death from above that the infrastructure here in southern California couldn't handle. About 3-4 inches here at the hotel, right off of I-15. Hotel was full of travellers last night, stuck here because of the highway closure in both directions.
A gentleman on base I spoke to Monday said it was the first such occurence in about 12 years. All the local newsies are going nuts over this. The hotel slipped a note under my door this morning stating that services may be limited due to extreme weather conditions preventing staff from making it to work.

When you are designing molecules that will be carcinogens or teratogens, you don't design extremely powerful alkylators or radical generators. The reason is that such molecules will react with the cell wall or other biomolecules long before they can get into the real machinery you want to damage (energy systems, transmitters, or genetic material). You design weaker slower poisons that can get into the machinery and then be activated to do their damage.
The same is true with moonbattery idiocy. Under normal circumstances, the really toxic crazies are recognized and dismissed long before they can really do any damage. It is the almost plausible, the nearly true except for a convenient twist or omission that does the damage. Now with a scientifically illiterate population (thanks to worthless schools), scientifically stupid representatives (due to election laws we elect mostly rich lawyers or celebrities), and a lazy, incompetent, and dishonest main stream media the moonbat idiocy prevails and does its toxic work. Even the most radical stupidity gets through. This stupidity may kill the host!

Is it just me, or can anyone else sense a general public dismissiveness about global warming? I avoid Time magazine and "Planet in Peril" so I'm not getting their dosages, but I see more and more articles questioning the premise, or calling it an out and out hoax.
Also, Angela Merckel has resisted the moonbattery, saying she won't sacrifice German jobs to the global warming alarmists.

Clearly you do not understand that snow in Vegas is evidence of global warming--more precisely, global climate change.
In fact, any change in the weather is evidence of global climate change, as is absence of any change in the weather.

When the weather is warm, plants and animals thrive. When the weather is cold, plants and animals die or become dormant. WARM = good, COLD = bad. So if "global warming" is real, logic says that it will be a GOOD thing.
So SHUT THE FREAK UP ALREADY!!

In 1986, I was stationed at NAS Lemoore, California. It is about 1/2 hour west of Visalia on Highway 198. In January of that year it snowed in Lemoore, Hanford and Visalia. It's not like it hasn't happened before. The Grapevine was even closed for awhile. About one year ago I saw snow on the higher elevations in the Mojave Desert out by Bagdad, Selisia, Ludlow and Essex. Hmmmmmmmmm?!?!?!?!?
Al Gore is an idiot. That we do know. Winter happens, Get over it.
