Citizens Opt Not to Give Away Their Guns

The alarming Ascent of the Obamessiah is hardly the time for grassroots campaigns against gun ownership, as was seen in Denver Saturday:

Organizers of a supposed gun buy-back had dozens of people lining up to turn in their weapons, although only 15 were collected today for the Denver Police Department to destroy and melt down.
Held at New Covenant Christian Church in Denver to raise awareness about gun violence, the gun buy-back turned into a gun give-back event when the program could not afford to pay $50 as initially advertised.

Even if they did cough up the promised $50, not many citizens would voluntarily disarm themselves. We need guns because moonbats might try to take them away.

On a tip from Wiggins.

Most of the guns turned in at events like this are obsolete or non functional weapons. Others are stolen guns - stolen so they can be sold at government no-questions-asked buybacks.

NO way in hell am I giving up my gun especially living in Memphis Tennessee. This place is a war zone.

I don't have a gun, but I'm thinking of buying one just to spite liberals.

Let's see...a new legitimate handgun can cost anywhere from $300 to $1500 or more, not to mention all the paperwork, license fees, waiting period (at least here in CA). The libs then offer to buy it back for fifty bucks.

I guess that makes sense economically if you voted for Obama. Rationality, private property and value for money don't mean anything to "progressive" thinking people.

50 dollars? Is there such a thing as a 50 dollar hand gun?

Jason, do it. Make sure you get a carry permit too.

"Even when somebody says 'son of a gun', I faint!" (Eddy Cantor, "Whoopie" 1930)

Jason, buy 2! I wholly reccomend having many.
C.C.W.? I dont think so.
1) if you are somewhere you need a gun, your in the wrong place.
2) If you are carrying concealed and need it, you win. they wont really be too concerned if you really save the day. Considering geographical location. i.e. new hampshire, mall, school, goodguy no carry zone.
3) Permits leave a paper trail. They will be at your house first.
However that way the rest of will know
"its time"

$50 isn't when you stole the gun in the first place.

Posted by: elisa at December 29, 2008 8:50 PM

PIMF

$50 isn't BAD when you stole the gun in the first place.

I just bought my first gun. Hubby is taking me to the range this weekend to learn to use it.

Posted by: elisa at December 29, 2008 8:52 PM

Czuch - two words: bad advice. Yes, if you are carrying illegally, and drop the hammer on some crazed mall shooter in a clown suit, you probably won't be hung in the public square for your offense. However, if you get caught in less-than-heroic circumstances, then you get a criminal charge AND probably a "no weapons" condition on your probation.
As for being somewhere you need a gun - yes, you should stay out of biker bars and dark alleys at 2 a.m. A pistol is for "normal" places, such as restaurants, where violence is rare. If you know you're heading for a gunfight, skip the pistol and go straight for the shotgun / rifle.

from the article:

"Tony Veasley of Aurora came to drop off a 9 mm handgun he said he found on his driveway about two weeks ago. "I'm rich at heart. The money is not important, it can't save a life," Veasley said. "We need to save these kids and get these guns off the streets. It's real out here."

LIAR!

hint, nitwit:

when you find a gun in your driveway you should turn it in to your local law enforcement not wait in hopes a local church will have a buy back program.

is anybody else getting as sick of these liars as i?

I should have started a table promising $60 per gun.

czuch, having an unregistered weapon is a really bad idea also. If the government wanted to come in my house and confiscate my weapons, they could. I'd rather obey the law and trust that the 2nd amendment isn't going to be repealed.

I don't have automatic weapons, bazookas, AK-47's or anything illegal, so I'm not paranoid enough to say "oh no, I'll never register my guns". Again, if the military wants to get 'em, they've got me out-gunned anyhow, so while I may defend myself, they'll win in the end.

But I still believe in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and (naive as some may think me) I still trust that my rights and freedoms are secure. Hell...I'm more afraid of making a mistake on my income taxes and having the IRS after me than I am worried about firearm confiscations.

Everyone should join the NRA.

I guess anyone that would be stupid enough to take $50 for any sort of gun is too stupid to have them in the first place!

Posted by: ToddonCapeCod at December 29, 2008 11:52 PM

Y'know, I need to have one of those $50 buy-back programs for guns around here. I have several firearms that are non-functional and certainly not worth $50 resale value.

Gun buy backs dont do a thing to reduce crime its just another way for a bunch stupid moonbat ding a lings feel all warm and fuzzy becuase their all as dumb as they look staring like mindless zombies at the truck rushing toards them while sitting on the sissy pink bicycle just before SPLAT TIME
