Chicago Tribune Leads Dinosaur Media March to Tar Pits

It looks like the Chicago Tribune is beating the New York Times in the race for the tar pits:

Facing what Chairman Sam Zell called a "perfect storm" of forces roiling the media industry and the broader economy, Chicago-based Tribune Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from its creditors Monday.

Cheer up, Zell: you're not alone. Publishers of the Chicago Sun-Times have recently seen their stock fall from $2.87 to 5¢. The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune are restructuring. The New York Times is borrowing against its fancy new castle. Leftwing NBC, despite having the $zillions of GE behind it, is considering scaling back its programming hours.

Have your pitchforks and torches ready in case the government tries bailing out these dinosaurs with your money.

On tips from Dennis S and Burning Hot.

I guess all that NBC Greenwashing isnt helping the ratings of their sucky shows. Im sick to death of their Green themed shows and green logo. Even more satisfying is that its owned by GE that is helping Iran arm itself with nukes. Hopefully if the US is nuked by terrorists somedays ground zero will be GE and NBC HQ.

As MSM newspapers go, the Trib is actually pretty decent. It's not too left-leaning, or at least it didn't used to be. They actually publish editorials critical of Democrats!

The Sun-Times can take a flying leap into the deepest hole it can find.
