Carols Deemed Too Religious for Christmas

The campaign to purge Christianity from Christmas presses forward:

A school choir was forced to withdraw from a Christmas event because organisers branded its carols 'too religious'.
Around 60 children aged between seven and 11 had spent six weeks practising favourites including Once In Royal David's City and Silent Night for the Corringham Winter Festival.
But they were let down at the last minute when their headteacher was informed their programme did not 'dovetail' with the festival's theme.
The event ended up going ahead last week with non-religious music and displays from an Irish school of dancing and performing arts students.

Naturally the organizers wouldn't want to risk alienating Muslims by acknowledging that Christmas has something to do with Christ — not in an area where only 75% of the population identifies itself as Christian, and a full 1% as Muslim.

After Christ has been hollowed out of Christmas, moonbats will move on to other holidays. In the USA, we can expect to have the Thanks taken out of Thanksgiving, since there is no one to be thankful to, unless you're politically incorrect enough to believe in God. Presidents Day will be renamed Barack Obama Day, because it would be insensitive to honor dead white men. All that red, white, and blue jingoism will have to be purged from the Fourth of July, but we'll still have the barbeques, so long as they're vegetarian — unless of course barbeques are found to cause global warming.

On a tip from Wiggins.

I was in London yesterday. There are quite a bit of Christmas trees and other decorations around. There was a group of carolers in Victoria Station; they were singing Christian songs. That HUGE sign in Piccadilly Circus scrolled through a 'Merry Christmas' screen. On the whole there was quite a bit of Christmas cheer around, especially in the pubs.

I was also somewhat surprised to see 'Season's Greetings' and 'Merry Christmas' signs in the Indian restaurant I went to last night after getting back to Oxford. (If you're ever in town I HIGHLY recommend The Standard Tandoori on Morton St.)

Maybe I am mistaken, but I actually have seen more Christmas-themed shows, decorations, and exhibits here than back in the States.

OH HELLISH NIGHT

O hellish night, moonbats are brightly burning
It is the night of their dear devil's reign
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining
'Till he appeared and lost souls fell to hell

The thrill of despair,
The weary world rejoices
For yonder brings a new and hideous morn

Fall on your knees
Oh, hear the evil voices
Oh night we pine
Oh night when sin was born
Oh night we pine
Oh night,
Oh night we pine

Oh hellish night, lost souls are brightly burning
It is the night of their dear devil's birth

Oh
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining
'Til he appeared and lost souls felt his worth
The thrill of despair,
The weary world rejoices
For yonder brings a new and hideous morn

Fall on your knees
O, hear the evil voices
O night we pine
O night when sin was born
O night we pine
O night,
O night we pine

God help them and God help u.s.

B-B-B-But the War on Christmas is just a phony publicity stunt dreamed up by Bill O'Reilly.

Or, so the left tells me.

Indeed barbequing does release CO2. It is afterall, charCOAL. Believe it or not the moonbat greens have already done studies on this..

paid for with your tax money, no less. It's not likely they will outlaw BBQ'ing, however, they may require you to use propane.

This is when you need to blast Tisted Sister's "Twisted Christmas" album, and bring a smile to your face whilst offending every moonbat within earshot.

Harris, thank you for your surprising report.

In my neck of the woods (literally), the elementary schools (public) are still decorating their windows with Christmas symbols. Crosses, no. Stars, yes. It's something, anyway.
Then again, we don't really have any muslims around here to make a big stink, like Londonistan.

Harris, if I were to guess I'd say that tandoori place of yours was probably hindu rather than muslim. Hindus are rather more friendly to other faiths... well, most of the time.

Of course I'm just guessing. Without seeing the place it'd be hard for me to make any definitive statement, but my experience has been that hindus are generally nice people.

75% Christian; 1% Muslim -- sounds like a bit of "preemptive political correctness" to me (the Liberal Disease). Let's get rid of everything we believe in (or used to believe in), just in case some putz might take "offense" at our traditions -- what a concept! No, no, can't have that; so what if they flew airplanes into our buildings and killed 3,000 of us in a couple of hours -- no big deal, and of course they were "justifiably" pissed at us (for who knows what reason).

Moonbats on the march! All hail BHO, the new Moonbat Fuehrer, who will lead us to Nirvana (or to Hell, at the very least)!

In my school district, we now have "Winter Break" for two weeks from school. Choirs and bands have their "winter concerts." It's not mandated to say it that way, but it managed to slip itself in quietly.

Yes, The Standard Tandoori is Hindu. Also, I said Morton Street, but it's actually Walton. Wonderful food and service.

Although you don't see a huge showing of Christian symbols in public, you really have to spend some time here to get the feel of how ingrained religion is in Oxford. Church bells echo from all directions every half-hour, Christian choirs sing on Cornmarket Street, and people flock to Even-Songs and other services daily.

You have to understand that it wasn't very long ago that you couldn't hold a government job (and often private employment)in England unless you were Anglican. Schools only accepted students from a particular religion. Then you think of the religious and political tension that came with the IRA, and Britain's responses to that, and it becomes clearer why they do the things they do sometimes.

This has been tough for me to grasp since I don't know what it's like to be targeted because of a religious creed. I think, for the most part, that people should maintain their culture, but there is a very long history of rigidity leading to bloodshed and hardship, here and at home.
