A Moonbat in High Dudgeon

It doesn't take much to arouse the hollow yet noisy moral indignation of moonbats. All you have to do is say "Jesus Christ" in public:

I was appalled and angered by the un-American, unpatriotic and illegal display put on by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association prior to the 5A state championship high-school football game Saturday. …
As any real American knows, the most important American freedom, even more fundamental than free speech, is the freedom of conscience, the freedom to think.
This freedom grew directly out of the religious wars of the Middle Ages and Late Middle Ages; religious freedom is the soul of this freedom. Yet immediately before playing the national anthem, an anthem that represents this and all our freedoms, at a game sanctioned by the state and involving two public schools, a minister gave an invocation that spoke only of Jesus Christ. …
Those who made the decision to allow this prayer need to apologize.

The moonbat whines that no prayers were offered to the gods of various foreign religions that are unlikely to have significant followings at Louisiana football games. The Hindu heritage of Governor Bobby Jindal is trumpeted — never mind that Jindal is Catholic.

Here we see once again that trying to engage anti-Christian liberals as if they were on the level would be a waste of time. The goal isn't inclusion of other cultures' religions. It's the exclusion of Christianity from public life, so that we will have no gods before moonbattery.

On a tip from Andrea.

Comments

GK Chesterton commented on the near-death of the world before Christianity saved it, saying:

"...the whole world once very nearly died of broadmindedness and the brotherhood of all religions"

Does 'broadmindedness' remind anyone of the things being pushed nowadays? PCness, nonjudgment, tolerance, diversity, moral and ethical relativism, etc are lauded as intellectual broadmindedness. Broadmindedness is dangerous because it puts your brain in neutral and you can't go anywhere when you're in neutral. You end up getting hit by traffic from all directions. The only way to get anywhere in neutral is if you're heading downhill, and that's where we're headed as we accept more of this nonsense--downhill. Fast.

Read GK. If you think you've got some brilliant new take on the world, forget it. He's already covered it, and he did lots more brilliantly than we can.

BTW, there's an excellent article in Newsweek (I think) on Bobby Jindal. Look for it.

These folks aren't insane, not crazy or 'wacko'. Nope, they know EXACTLY what they're doing. You tie people up with regulations, use the law as a weapon, complicate things to the point where no one can do anything, then put the weight of the courts behind you...mission accomplished.

I can see the news item now:

"A teen was arrested yesterday for walking past a fellow student in school and saying "hello", yet failing to acknowledge other cultures by not also saying "hola", "Gud Dag", "Dzien dobry", "Salam liyzhe", "Konnichi wa", "Jó napot", "Namasté", "Ma nishma", "Geia sou", "Grüß dich", "Gode dai", "Néih hóu", "Bon jour", "Parev", "Maalim wanaqsan", "Pryvit", "Chào em", "Dydd da", "Akakáume", "A gütt'n tuuk", "E kú isé" and "Padioxei."

"Lawyers for the school released a statement saying 'this simple, multicultural greeting will allow students of all backgrounds to feel included in school life. Failure to comply by any white students will result in hate-crime charges being filed.'"

The writer states that "Religious freedom is the soul of this freedom" and then is offended when that freedom is exercised ? I'll need to wait for one of these leftist trolls with their vast educational superiority to come along and explain how limiting a freedom is freedom.

Will they go after Wonder Woman next because she said "Great Hera!" and didn't mention Shiva, Ra, or Quexaquatl?

I still want to know how I ended up on Bizzaro world.

We should start a liberal dictionary:

[Liberal] freedom of speech: The freedom to not hear anything you don't want to hear, and to be able to say whatever you want without anyone else being allowed to disagree.

[Liberal] freedom of religion: The freedom to denigrate, marginalize and regulate Christianity out of existence while elevating any and all other religions as sacred concepts in the name of multicultural diversity.

[Liberal] patriotism: Exercising one's constitutional right to condemn each and every American foreign policy undertaking made since WW2 (or during WW2 if you're one of the Hiroshima/Nagaski war crime truthers like Zinn), and the complete lack of free speech and human rights available in America due to its being ruled by corporations, Christian fundamentalists and AIPAC, and constant negative comparisons of America with anywhere including Iran (at least they RESPECT their president!!11)

[Liberal] definition of hating America:

1. Contending that America is not, in fact, the world's largest terrorist and human rights violator
2. Being a Christian
3. Being a Republican
4. (Most importantly) Questioning a liberal on their 'patriotism.'

---------------------

&c. Add your definitions below.

Posted by: mandible claw at December 18, 2008 9:07 PM

[Liberal] freedom: My right to not have to encounter/deal with/experience/listen to anything that doesn't mesh perfectly with my leftist sensitivities.

Ex: A smoking ban in all public places is an expression of freedom as it allows me to go about my daily life in a smoke-free environment. (Never mind that millions of people who do smoke are relegated to the level of second-class citizens and forced to cramp into stinking unpleasant smoking rooms or go out on the sidewalk in front of the bar to light one up, as long as I'm happy, freedom is achieved.)

Posted by: mandible claw at December 18, 2008 9:13 PM

[Liberal] freedom of choice: The freedom to engage in any form of lifestyle activity as long as it is one that is a part of a liberal lifestyle and not something that is associated with "the rest" of America, otherwise you will be taxed, regulated against or arrested.

(See: taxes/regulations on twinkies/soda/guns/SUVs/hunting/fishing vs. abortion on demand/promotion of 'green' industries/promotion of LGBTH agenda, etc.)

Posted by: mandible claw at December 18, 2008 9:20 PM

[liberal] Definition of art: Anything that looks like random junk been thrown together within the last hour, random splashs of paint on a canvas, anything that demeans christianity, America, Bush, and Republicans.

Posted by: conservativeteen at December 18, 2008 11:04 PM

[liberal] definition of morality:
1. anything that is not in the interest of the traditional family, heterosexuality, or defence of or promotion of American (or Western) interests or economic growth.

2. Trade unions.

3. Disliking Israel.
--------------------
[liberal] definition of intelligence: believing in global warming/climate change/the Gaia theory/evolution, belief in collectivist economic theories

(NB: irrelevant to liberal intelligence: ability in or working knowledge of: mathematics, engineering, economics, manufacturing, traditional art or literature, languages [yes, really], chemistry, theology unless said knowledge is used exclusively to support aforementioned liberal concepts of intelligence)

Posted by: mandible claw at December 19, 2008 1:01 AM

[liberal] definition of social justice: 1. Giving certain minority groups preferential treatment over other groups (i.e. affirmative action).
2. Having the government steal money from those who work hard to earn it, and redistributing it to lazy welfare parasites who'd rather die than even consider getting a job, even though they have no physical disabilities or other hindrances that could keep them from getting a job.
Oh, and one of my favorite psycho- ultra- lib terms:
Direct Action: Frequently found on anarchist web sites' pages on organizing protests, it is a euphemism for "Try to start a riot and engage in as much vandalism and violence as possible."
