Kaliningrad is a good case-study in what can happen to a place when socialists get control. It was the capitol of East Prussia for hundreds of years and was apparently a beautiful and prosperous city. Then the National Socialists took control, did away with the Jews, and then promptly lost the city to the Bolsheviks in the most horrific war ever - naturally fought between two collectivist-statist-socialist regimes.

Anyway, after the Bolsheviks took control and ethnically cleansed the place of Germans, they decided to tear down the 700 year old castle that overlooked the city, and replace it with a great monument to collectivism: "the House of Soviets"

Not only is this building perhaps the ugliest in the world, but it's unoccupied because its foundation is inadequate. It is completely useless and tremendously ugly.

Well what is really important here is that Europe likes us again. We should like them too and not be such a bully to butt into their business with their neighbors.
