Robert Reich Returns to Dampen Expectations

Slick Willy's Secretary of Labor, who has been working as a garden gnome for the last few years, has reemerged as a member of the Moonbat Messiah's transition team. Here's Robert Reich performing a crucial task — throwing a wet blanket on the absurd expectations that a sophomoric Marxist with virtually no experience or qualifications will be able to turn around the economy, rather than send it into a steeper dive as the stock market has predicted by plunging since his election:

This might be a long haul. 2009 is going to be a very hard year. Some economists say we won't be out of this for two years, others are saying it may be three, or four, maybe five years.

That is, our economic doldrums will continue at least two years if Republicans drive out the RINOs and pull a 1994 in 2010, at least four if we have to wait until 2012 before adults have a say in how the government is run.

Meanwhile, Obama puppeteer David Axelrod keeps making ominous references to FDR, who came to power during an economic crisis that he milked and prolonged, leaving our democracy and our economy permanently weakened by radically expanding the size and scope of the federal government.

Robert Reich, garden gnome extraordinaire, presses some flesh.

We know the economy is bad. We also know that President Obama's policies will lengthen and prolong the recession. But, we think we can blame the Republicans for it. And we've stoked so much hate for Republicans, we think we can coast through the next couple of election cycles even with a bad economy. We look at Michigan, where voters re-elected Jennifer Granholm, and New Jersey, where Democrats have a monopoly on state power despite recession, corruption, and tax increases... and those are our models.

“Every collectivist revolution rides in on a Trojan horse of ‘emergency’. It was the tactic of Lenin, Hitler, and Mussolini. In the collectivist sweep over a dozen minor countries of Europe, it was the cry of men striving to get on horseback. And ‘emergency’ became the justification of the subsequent steps. This technique of creating emergency is the greatest achievement that demagoguery attains.” — Herbert Hoover

Just sayin'...

But I thought we wouldn't have to worry about mortgages and filling the gas tank with The One at the helm. Isn't he the one we've been waiting for, who will cause the oceans to recede and the earth to heal?

Being a Messiah isn't what it used to be.

Are they both standing up?

I used to love back when Rush Limbaugh had his TV show, and whenever he showed clips of Robert B. Reichhhhhhhhh speaking, they'd only show the top of his head!!

LMAO!

If I were the guy on the right, I'd check that Reich isn't picking his pocket with his other hand.

Just sayin'.

Say what you will about Robert Reich, but wasn't he great in 'Elf?'

Posted by: V the K at November 21, 2008 1:38 PM

This is so transparent. Now that "O" is in, it's going to be two...three...four...five years before a recovery. Right. Like anyone in five years will remember that.

By then, Komrad "O" and the team he is bringing in will have reworked America into an unrecognizable socialist third-world slum. (Also, read Dick Morris' latest email column on how Bush sold us down the river this month.)

By the way, what's with the penchant for picking on someone's physical appearance here? Like that matters. I don't care if Reich is short (I'm five six...want to make fun of me? Try it to my face, assholes). So what if Madelaine Albright and Helen Thomas are not exactly attractive? That's sophomoric name calling. We are better than that...aren't we?

Posted by: matt at November 21, 2008 1:56 PM

Me? Make fun of someone's physical appearance? that's unpossible!.

Posted by: V the K at November 21, 2008 2:06 PM

Everybody at same time or another makes fun of someone else. Some just think it, some voice it. Akin to calling Obama 'Komrad"O".

This has got to be a Clintonista plot.

Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff,
John Podesta as Transition Chief,
Eric Holder as Atty Gen,
Robert Reich on the Transition Team,
and (maybe) Shillary as Secretary of State

Something tells me that, instead of Jimmy Carter's second term, this could be Bubba's third term.

Ok I'll bite. Are you saying you can't see the pics?

Who's the Russian? Maybe he can give us some pointers on how to live under socialism & not starve or go nuts....

Posted by: hiram at November 21, 2008 3:21 PM

Hey Anon (2:50 pm), I think the Daily Kos has gotten to your reasoning skills.

Hammering someone on policy and politics (like the insult above, directed at you) is different than saying "Look at that short, ugly fat guy". But I guess libs don't understand that.

But criticize someone gay...or black...or Moslem...or Hispanic...or Asian...THEN, by God, it's RACISM (even if it had nothing to do with race).

Yeah, the only way liberals know how to criticize the right is with personal insults and smears. (Which is why I'm giving V some jazz here. You're WAY wittier than that.) What pisses me off is they won't admit it!

Posted by: matt at November 21, 2008 3:34 PM

Is that Russian? -- or Greek?

Guess it doesn't matter. Greeks are just as adept at surviving life in a socialist "workers paradise"

Posted by: Rich at November 21, 2008 4:03 PM

"Pictures for some reason (it only at me so are not displayed?"

it's russian and this is the best translation i can find.

The 4th REICH is about to begin.

I have been reincarnated as Robert Reich. The irony is rather delicious.

Its no accident Robert Reich was born June 1946 - about a year after I offed myself in my bunker.

If this current cast of characters didn't already exist, it would have been necessary for Ayn Rand to invent them for one of her novels. It also follows the plot of Atlas Shrugs fairly closely. In the novel, the lead antagonist promotes his own 'new deal', a sort of economic stasis where no one could be hired, fired or promoted. Naturally the downturn turned into a Greater Depression.
