I've been giving Obama some slack for his appointments, many of which have been way more "center" left than anyone expected (same goes for his backing off of tax hikes...so far). Not conservative, not what I want, but better than it could be for sure!
The real test will now be with the courts. If he sticks with his rhetoric, THAT could be a disaster. Imagine 8 more circuit courts that mirror California's 9th circuit! The Supreme Court might not change it's makeup too much in terms of lib v conservative, but you never know. We'll just have to hope that he backs off on that as well.

"Confidant Smile and Kind Eyes Inspire Us All"? Is that all it takes to inspire and lead now?
Posted by: Chrissy at November 29, 2008 2:24 PM
matt, If Obama really is going to be the third Bush term, then one can expect the courts are where he will pay off his base. Just like Bush did.
Posted by: V the K at November 29, 2008 3:29 PM
Entirely possible, V. That's why I'm waiting to see what happens. Those appointments are more under the radar than high profile stuff like tax increases or the like.
The thing now is: who does he consider his base? The far left helped him get elected, but they aren't that numerous. I'm wondering if it was a coalition of soccer moms, uninformed people that just "liked" him and bought the "change" thing without thinking, Democrats who (like Republicans for McCain) held their noses and said 'well, he's our guy, so...'
In other words, his base may be mostly center-left Clinton-ites with some cross-over independents. The hard left thought "he's all ours" and figured the campaign rhetoric was to be view as gospel...and now they're finding out he isn't the Messiah, but another Chicago machine Democrat.
So, if he loses the hard left, he still has most of his base, and if he goes a little more center than they'd like (but still tolerate) he can pick up some support from the moderate-center right. Again, not what I'd want, but a WHOLE lot better than things were looking during the campaign.
My prediction: one not-so-eventful term with only moderate "left" damage to the government, he bucks Pelosi/Reid on loony issues, conservatives pick up some seats in '10 and we get somebody really good (I'm hoping Gingrich) in '12.

Note they put the American flag in the background, the same flag that Obama will not raise a hand to his hart for, or even say the pledge to..... umph!
I see they are marketing directly to the 'White Liberal Guilt' crowd.
They did however put some token minorities (yuppys no less) into the spin late in the commercial. Though those be 'Uncle Tom' minorities......
So this is where used car salesmen, or really poor attorneys, go to make money when the economy gets a little rough.
I'm still waiting for the Obama toilet paper dispenser, Obama neck 'bling' gold chains, Obama 'bling' fake gold teeth and Obama bathroom air fresh devices to make us ignore the stink.
And Gay Obama Children still can not get married in CA because the Democratic Party Voters who love Obama hate Gay marriage.
Reality sucks, but those who provide for themselves do not get depressed.

Knowing Jimbo - I do not think that is his post above.
Looks like the trolls can't stand to present rational arguments and are stooping to just causing false information posts.
Oh, and Gay Trolls still can not get married in CA because of the other Gay Democratic Trolls that voted for Obama, but hate Gay Trolls.

Well, if it's not the real Jimbo, he can say so and I'll apologize. If it is, he can get bent.

SW, I intend to support BO more than the nutroots supported W. Especially if he keeps doing crazy stuff like appointing capitalists to important economic positions.

How is it that Obama is our president, but Bush isn't the lefties' president? Can the door not swing both ways?
Its in Obama's best interest to not mess up, or he's going to take the "first black presidency" and drive the whole thing into the ground. So I really see him doing close to nothing over the next 4 years, and upon re-election (should he get that way, and if he doesn't mess up too bad as planned he probably will) he'll get down to the nitty-gritty governing we're worried about now.
Remember, he's got to secure the entire 8 years before he can put any far-left policies into effect. Hopefully everyone who voted for him will see he's just another politician, who changed NOTHING about how Washington worked except for how people will get elected. Over propoganda like "Hope" and "Change" instead of realistic approaches to problems.

Oh, this is just killing me.
Even more proof that two-faced Democratic Party Leadership hates gay marriage.
Even in NY, where the Gay $$$$ was thrown at the Democratic party to ensure wins this year, they will not put the Gay Marriage issue on the front burner for one or two more years.
Sucks to be Gay and duped by your Democratic Masters.

Gingrich in '12???!!!!?! He's too busy writing his monthly 400-page doorstop on Radical Change and The Revolutionary Overturning Of Everything To Something Completely Different With A Paradigm-Shifting Newness In Our Core Competencies For Teamwork Through Innovation. Gingrich's buzzwords and new-age business-speak remind me of the guest speakers brought in to fill time at sales conferences .... in 1992. His act is stale. Even he knows it.

It's amazing how ALL the moonbats think we should fall to our knees and just adore Chairman "O" now that he has made a mockery of our electoral system. Now that he has brought corrupt Chicago politics to the nation we should all just fall in line and join the groupthink. I've heard it so many times already. You know how THEY all decided to hold hands and sing kumbya when Bush won, how they agreed to help Bush and America after both those elections... At least they are being true to their form (not that they know how to be different) and continue their hypocrisy! MOONBATS, go to Google "images" and search "Bush" and "FEEL THE LOVE" you hypocritical wastes. And you would expect anything different!?

God, you people are so pathetic.
And hello to you too.
You can't seem to accept reality and even attempt to support your president.
He's not president yet. He won't be president until January. And I'll give him the same level of support the left gave President Bush... that is, none at all.
Yes, YOUR president.
No, THE president. I am under no obligation to extend to him anything more that the respect for the office. I do respect the office, but I don't respect the lying, socialist, empty suit who will take over in January. After all, weren't we told that "dissent is the highest form of patriotism" for the last eight years? I, for one, intend to be VERY patriotic in the next four.
You folks are as bad as those you denounce.
So we're as bad as you?
Now, post a bunch of comments deriding me.
Gladly. I'll start by calling you pathetic.
I'll be over here trying to make a difference in this world,
Wow, aren't you just a wonderful person? You're going to "make a difference in this world." And you're not afraid to tell us about it, either. Of course, you leave out the details, but as with the Teleprompter Messiah you voted for, the details of HOW you're going to make a difference in this world aren't important. What's important is the feeling that you're better than those you oppose.
not just spew hate everywhere.
Which of course is why you came here and spewed hate.

On the Gitmo issue...
when BHO closes Gitmo & moves the POWs to plain old fashioned federal prisons I'll bet it will take one day for the hot & juicy liberal lawyers to file laws suits claiming the treatment of the POWS in the federal prisons is worse than how they were treated in Gitmo

Thanks to the Supreme Court, alien enemy combatants have access to our courts. Nothing in the Constitution gives the courts authority over war-related matters.
Posted by: jomama at November 30, 2008 10:22 AM
Just a reminder, SCOTUS must be given proof of Obama's eligibility (proof of citizenship and live birth in Hawai) by 1 Dec (tomorrow).
The Electoral College does not meet until the 15th of December.
Legally, Obama is not even the 'President-Elect' until after the 15th, and all of the Electoral Votes are cast, if he is eligible and they are cast for him.

THE WICHITA MASSACRE, YET ANOTHER INSTANCE OF A MEDIA BLACKOUT
Not surprisingly since I had made reference to it in a previous article on news blackouts on homosexual crimes, there exists another group which is accorded preferential treatment by the mass media: Black murderers of White victims.
Being a news nut, I should recall the “Wichita Massacre” but I can’t honestly say that I do. It’s not ancient history, having occurred a scant eight years back.
It was another grisly tale which rivals and even surpasses in some respects the grisliness of the homosexual murders of Jesse Dirkhising and Jason Shephard and was not something one could easily forget–unless it received little or no media attention outside of Kansas. That apparently was the case, as it was with Jesse and Jason.
I was alerted to the “Wichita Massacre” by dozer7 on FreeRepublic.com and it was indeed an atrocity which should have been reported far and wide, but wasn’t.
On the bitterly cold night of December 14th, 2000, two Black men, brothers Reginald Carr, age 23, and Jonathan Carr, age 20, staged a home invasion in Wichita. They proceeded to terrorize, torture, and rape the Whites present, forced each to withdraw money from an ATM, executed them in a barren soccer field, and ran over their dead bodies with a truck for good measure.
Then they returned to the residence and looted it.
Beyond that brief summary, which says more than enough, the reader is referred to http://www.wichita-massacre.com/ for the explicit, horrifying details of that night.
(It was later discovered that the wilding night of the Wichita Massacre was just the culmination of a crime spree during which the brothers, who already had extensive criminal records, had committed armed robbery and another murder, all within days of arriving in Wichita. Both the robbery victim and the murdered woman were White.)
Suffice to say, the Carr Brothers, armed with a single handgun, had perpetrated such horrendous acts that the prosecution sought and the bi-racial jurors handed down well deserved death sentences for both. Those sentences have yet to be carried out.
Four of the five victims, most in their mid-twenties, three young men and one young woman, were brutally killed after the Carrs tortured and otherwise abused them; another woman was shot but miraculously escaped into the freezing night.
As with Jesse and Jason, the issue is not merely the facts of the case but rather the media’s reaction and inaction with regard to reporting said facts, or of reporting anything at all on the story.
The judge at the preliminary hearing, Rebecca Pilshaw, was more blatant than most in suppressing...
