Actually, that's just what those student groups are doing, just "Rabble!"ing over blood drives that want to keep STDs out of the blood they give to patients.

What he says is pretty much always backed up by outside sources. I don't always agree with the conclusions he occasionally draws and lists after describing the incidents, but the incidents themselves are true, and prime examples of moonbattery, as are the posts made by you and fez.

Well, I can't give blood because I get allergy shots. Seems the recipient of my blood might develop hay fever. If they exclude my blood due to a medical condition that can be treated, why wouldn't they do it with a FATAL INCURABLE DISEASE???

I give blood regularly and I can tell you, FEZ AND DOG, that they are very carefull not to SPREAD DISEASES. They will not even let you donate even if you had taken an asprin 24 hours before because some people might have an alergic reaction! Back in the sixties, they would take anybody and drug addicts and winos would line up to get money for plasma. Think about all the diseases that became household words durring that time and you will realise that it is YOU who are the hysteria-merchants.

But don't worry, when those gays who protested need a transfusion, or a pint of plasma durring an operation, they will not be refused.

I'm so unimpressed with this line of protesting. Donating blood is subject to so many restrictions, and they only reason they exist are as safeguards to the blood's recipient. We've had to learn all these lessons the hard way. Many of these safeguards exist because when they didn't, people died.

You would think and hope that homosexuals as a group would acknowledge some facts. Instead, they piss and moan about discrimination where none exists. As others have so aptly put, there are many far less risky reasons that some are denied the chance to give blood. But no, it's obviously some evil conspiracy to keep homosexuals in their place that we do silly things like protect recipients of blood donations from HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis. No, no concern for the patient here. Just horrid discrimination.

For those persons who are able, please become blood donors. I started about a year ago. I don't enjoy it, but I do it because it is important. And I sure as hell wouldn't put others at risk if I thought there was the slightest chance that my blood could infect someone (or even, as another poster noted, trigger an allergic reaction in an aspirin-sensitive patient).

The reason they ask about aspirin use is because aspirin has blood-thinning properties. It doesn't have anything to do with aspirin allergies.
