Green Bureauweenies Conspire to Cause American Depression
Evidence continues to accrue that the purpose of the global warming hoax is not to lower harmless CO2 emissions, but to induce a severe economic decline that will enable bureauweenies to make a socialist power grab and to cut the USA down to a size that won't make Europeans feel inadequate. From IBD:
The U.N. says the 40 signatories to the Kyoto treaty have, on average, cut their emissions to 5% below their levels of 1990 — just meeting the goals for 2008 to 2012. So on the surface, things look very good.
But the data are deceiving. As the publication the New Scientist noted, "Much of the 17% drop is a consequence of the economic downturn of eastern and central European nations in the 1990s."
"Downturn" is almost too polite a term. Take the period right after the collapse of communism in 1990, when many countries in the area were struggling to rebuild their economies after decades of top-down stagnation. This economic implosion led to a 37% drop in greenhouse gas emissions among the so-called "economies in transition" from 1990 to 2006.
In other words, it took a regional depression for Kyoto to meet its goals…
A depression is exactly what it would take for the USA to meet Kyoto targets too. Mega-polluters China and India are exempt from Kyoto, despite being the fastest-growing CO2 emitters, for one simple reason: the whole purpose is to reduce economies to Third-World status, and China and India are already there.
The U.N. itself estimates that reducing global warming would require a permanent hit of at least 1.5% of world GDP — or roughly $1 trillion a year for decades to come.
For the U.S., the hit might be even more severe. Under Kyoto's strict requirements, according to forecasts from the U.S. Energy Department, the costs could reach as high as 4.1% of GDP — or about $570 billion a year. It would kill nearly 5 million jobs. Still want to sign on?
In two weeks' time, global warming bureaucrats from around the world plan to meet in Poznan, Poland, to plan their next move — including figuring out a way to get President-elect Obama aboard the Kyoto train. On Tuesday, Obama vowed to "once again engage vigorously in these negotiations."
We hope that once he realizes this Kyoto deal is intended to economically damage the very people who put him in office, he'll have a change of heart.
On a tip from Dennis.

But, IBD, it doesn't matter that signing onto the Kyoto Protocols will hurt the very people who put the Obamanation into office -- surely you get it, don't you? All that matters -- I say again, ALL that matters -- is whatever Obama wants (the "little people" be damned).
And Obama hissef has no idea what he wants, other than to destroy the American economy in order to gain more power over the very people who (stupidly) put him in office -- why do you think he's gone total Clinton administration in every appointment thus far, including even (if she takes it) the Hildabeast hersef? Because he knows of no one else with any kind of experience in governing; he's utterly without executive experience, and knows not what the hell he's going to do, other than impose Marxism everywhere he can -- can't you see that, IBD (normally a great paper with great editorials; looks like wishful thinking on their part, on this issue at least)?

Not bloody likely! This insanity plays right into his hands. The One's greeness is pure watermellon (no pun intended). The lower 20% (I would have said quintile, but didn't want to confuse the trolls) will look like the scene in Terminator where the machines are rolling over piles of human bones.

Too late. The republicans and their greedbag buddies on Wall Street already gave us the New, Improved Great Depression.
I do find it amazing how you people are already working feverishly to deflect blame onto someone, anything, besides your own misguided leadership.
Won't work. That's why you don't hold the reins of power anymore.

Dino: There's plenty of blame to go around on both sides. Republicans didn't cause the financial crisis. Democrats didn't cause the financial crisis. Bureaucrats caused the crisis, and then simple human greed exacerbated the problem, which the government exacerbated further by bailing them out instead of letting them fail.

Personally, I haven't been optimistic about the GOP's chances to rebuild in 2010 and 2012. I though Chairman 0 might choose a more moderate path and not screw the pooch so badly that his media helicopter parents couldn't cover for him.
But if he tanks the economy with tax increases and unnecessary environmental regulations, and surrounds himself with corrupt Clinton refugees... he might just screw things up badly enough to give the GOP a chance.

Haven't we heard that before??

Elsewhere on this page you say that Obama is Hitler. Now you are saying that he only *might* be so bad that the GOP will get re elected.
You claim that he is going to become a Marxist Nazi dictator and is drafting a private civilian army to remain in power. So...why are you even considering elections, since the world which you paint Chairman Obama as inhabiting would clearly not allow for elections?

Elsewhere on this page you say that Obama is Hitler.

The stories:
Hitler Youth Alumnus Has Seen this Before
History Doesn't Repeat Itself, but it Rhymes
Obama's Gestapo
All of these posts offer dire warnings that Obama is following the path of Hitler, especially Obama's Gestapo, which features a picture of Obama in Nazi garb: "If you have anything negative to say about socialism or the global warming hoax, you'd better get it out of your system before this American version of the Gestapo is created, because it will certainly have the resources to discover your errant opinions and readjust them as The One and his friends deem necessary. "
Virtually every thread on this page about Obama refers to Obama as a Marxist or a Nazi and says that all opposition to him will be squelched. Well, if that's the case, he certainly WILL be re-elected won't he, since this page posits that either
A. Obama will simply use his civilian force to maintain power or
B. Free speech and press will be completely eliminated, which of course by default will result in an Obama re-election, as any opposition to him will be silenced.
so again, why are you worried about elections since they will inevitably be controlled by Nazi Obama?
Posted by: Anonymous at November 19, 2008 1:39 PM
Hitler Youth Alumnus Has Seen this Before - I never even commented in that thread.
History Doesn't Repeat Itself, but it Rhymes - Never commented in that thread, either.
Obama's Gestapo - Made one comment about a ghey talk show host making a death threat. Nothing about Hitler.

I have a question for Dino, who I am glad to have here on this board. When I troll HuffPost I simply can't engage in a debate on any issue. I just get called a Nazi within the first post.
Dino, these are some of the positions Obama has reversed himself on. I don't blame him - all politicians do that, and all politicians have to get elected. Comes with the territory, and everybody has to do it.
My question to you is how this situation is viewed by the Left, since they are basically conservative positions? Obama's base would never have given him the time of day if he had done the following back then:
- Mr. Obama now supports a Bush-backed bill granting legal immunity to communications companies who cooperate with federal surveillance efforts to intercept terrorist calls or e-mails.
- Obama's endorsement of the Supreme Court's overturning of the D.C. handgun ban was a surprising reversal.
- From the beginning, Obama's symbolic 2002 position on Iraq has been very promising, reinforced again and again by his campaign pledge to "end the war" in 2008. In January 2007 Barack Obama introduced the Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007 into Congress. A phased withdrawal of U.S. troops with start in 2007 with removal of all combat brigades by March 31, 2008.
- Post-election, Obama told reporters that he would "continue to refine" his Iraq policy. Associated Press argued that Obama's "problem" was "his change in emphasis to flexibility from a hard-nosed end-the-war stance including his recent position that withdrawing combat troops could take as long as 16 months."
- In the rust belt and other rural areas, he attacked the NAFTA free-trade agreement promising to end it completely, replaced by a number of protectionist solutions to economic problems.
- Post-election, Terry McAuliffe writes that "the President-elect suggests he doesn't want to unilaterally blow up NAFTA after all".
- On his former opposition to the death penalty, Obama surprised some observers by siding with the hardline minority of Justices Scalia, Thomas, Roberts and Alito. At a press conference after the decision, Obama said, "I think that the rape of a small child, six or eight years old, is a heinous crime and if a state makes a decision that under narrow, limited, well-defined circumstances the death penalty is at least potentially applicable, that that does not violate our Constitution."
- His former total opposition to drilling "under any circumstances" has also suddenly softened. Obama also reiterated his statement Friday that he could support limited new offshore drilling if it were needed to enact a compromise energy policy to foster fuel-efficient autos and alternative energy sources. He spoke warmly of a compromise proposed Friday by 10 moderate to conservative senators from both parties.
"Democracy cannot exist without strong differences. And going forward, some of you may decide that my FISA position is a deal breaker. That's OK, but I think it is worth pointing out that our agreement on the vast majority of issues that matter outweighs the differences we may have," he said.

The stock market is all about confidence in the future. When confidence is high that good days are ahead, the market goes up, and when it is not it goes down. If Obama was going to fix the nation's economic problems, or at least if investors believed he would/could, the market should go up. Instead, it is declining. Is it Obama's fault? Partly. At the very least it is a sign that his economic policies don't exactly inspire confidence.
Posted by: CoderInCrisis at November 19, 2008 3:14 PM
Since President Obama hasn't taken office and won't for a couple of months, your conclusions as to his positions on any issue are merely speculation.
I have no illusions that he will govern from a hard left position just as a republican wouldn't govern from the far right. My personal politics would not be, er, palatable or realistic given the 30 years of conservatism that has taken us to this dark place. No leader could take us back to 1979 without a revolution.
That said, if things get really bleak, you can bet that socialism in a particularly virulent form could be instituted. If 25% of the people are unemployed and out of options, the government had better respond witht some serious solutions or the 75% with money and especially the top 10% will not be safe leaving their dwellings. Americans won't suffer with 40-60% poverty like they do in South America. Your side would be the first to start killing the ones at the top of the heap in a fit of desperate violence. They're the crazies.
That's pretty much what Roosevelt told the rich back when. Either start sharing or end up dead.
Perhaps you brainstems could step back and let the man take office before declaring him a total failure. But alas, that won't happen. Opposing the left is all you people can manage with your limited intellects.
Posted by: Dino at November 19, 2008 3:20 PM
Sure guys. The market is "anticipating" a bad Obama presidency. SOunds about right. Shift that timeframe whichever way suits your bizarre visions.
The markets tanked because republicans ran us aground. Or perhaps the housing bubble was due to people wanting to capitalize on the housing hysteria in 2005 before Obama announced his candidacy and ruined it all?
I'll never convince you. It was once said that one has a better chance reasoning with a rutting bull elephant than reasoning with a republican who smells money. You all still hold tight to the fantasy of a life without taxes while retaining all the perks of a first rate country.
Idiots.
Posted by: Dino at November 19, 2008 3:24 PM

No, they are the positions he advocated as a candidate.

You still hold to the fantasy of socialism.
Your quote sounds more like a communist line, something like: "You have a better chance of reasoning with a rutting animal than with a Capitalist who smells money."

When Dino (or his kind) come to break into my house & steal my food, I'll have a very loud, very large caliber answer to them.
Pity this idiot. He's never lived through anything close to the economic crunch we're going to feel for the next few years. I have, and I know how to deal with it. He doesn't, and won't until he's shown in REAL LIFE what happens when an idiot president implements the same policies that were used to 'protect' us in 1930.

I do feel bad for the conservatives. When I go to the websites of their liberal counterparts, I find entry upon entry of accomplishments from their prominent members, and their ideas for the future in virtually every sphere: environment, business, politics, etc. Then, in addition, there are all the entries complaining about things conservatives have done.
The conservatives, however, have had no accomplishments or ideas since Reagan. That is why there is not a single entry on this web page that is not simply bitching about something liberals have done.
What's more, when the libs bitch about something that conservatives, they often will say what their counter argument is for how to handle that situation, or how it should have been handled. The offer answers of their own. There is none of that here. Just "bitch bitch bitch, whine whine whine. Then end"

Asset, I find Dingus fascinating, and I'll tell you why.
Here's a guy (?) that adores Obama, thinks Obama is going to just make everything wonderful ... but he reveals through his posts that he is completely ignorant of Obama's policies. He is also ignorant that those policies have made recessions worse and longer every time they have been tried. Furthermore, he is ignorant that other countries are rejecting and moving away from those policies.
Next, we consider that one critical trait of high intelligence is the capacity for self-examination, the ability to critically examine one's own beliefs. Dingus has displayed zero capacity for that.
Also, people of weaker intelligence attempt to simplify a complex world and refuse to look outside that simplified worldview. Dingus has simplified the world to a simplistic paradigm: Republicans always evil and wrong, Democrats always good and right.
Yet, despite the ignorance revealed in his comments, and despite his failure to demonstrate any of the higher traits of intelligence... Dingus considers himself smarter than anyone else here.
I find that fascinating, don't you?

What I find fascinating is that you people can't reason your way out of a paper bag. What I find fascinating is your intense fear of liberals that runs so deep you have to censor their posts on your pathetic blogs. What I find fascinating is your inability to come to terms with the fact that your party has lost EVERYTHING and will be out of power for DECADES for taking this country down to ruin. First of all, it isn't "my party" since I'm not a Republican. Registered Independent.
Second, I don't know what is expected by "come to terms?" Are we supposed to be suicidal with despair? Are we just suppose to give up and drink the socialist Kool-Aid? I reject both of those options. I'll just get along with my life, and argue for what I believe is right.
And if a pathetic left-wing troll can't deal with that, that's his problem. Why should I care what Dingus thinks?

hiram, Rodger that on last.
Also, and I'll drop this after this post, this is the only firearm that I have experienced that is more intimidating than the venerable 12 guage pump; 45-70 video – owned by god fearing gun clinging rednecks
very good article on the 45-70 from 99
Warning: not recommended for late night indoor use without hearing protection and closing at least one eye (total night blindness from muzzle flash).
Note: 100% proven to stop a home invasion in the middle of the night. Pisses the dog and the wife off real bad also.
OK - I'll get back on topic.

"I'll just get along with my life..."
Good VtheK... get on along! Your type are history... the America is going to progress... or fall apart. The recession/depression is just what people need to wake the fuck up and realize who the enemy really is -Greed, hiding behind fear and hate mongering. (Sounds like somebody's website) If you want to live in the boondocks and not pay taxes fine, just stay out of the cities where people understand better what is needed to live together, party down and enjoy civilization. We'll just add the appropriate export tariff for everything born out of the culture of cities and universities (most things these days, incuding Country Music strangely enough) for those of you that don't want to pay income taxes... including a "civilization entrance fee" when you get bored and need to come into town ...and the "blue" areas will stop federal tax subsidies to the "red" ones. Your all just lucky I'm not God instead of doG. I'd fix your asses good. Ha!

V-K -
You're a man of conviction. That's the slimy little creeps' worst nightmare. Your convictions "threaten" them and they pee their panties. They strike out the only way spineless "people" can - with keyboards.
I'm ready to see the insulting little creep get blocked. It adds nothing. It has no coherent thought patterns. Its only purpose is to disrupt and enrage (it fails miserably at the second).
Van - my vote is to kick the little fool off the island. This is the most tolerant blog on the sphere - but in the real world, unrepentant repeat offenders are put to death.
The little fool "Dino" adds no Social Redeeming Value. It is no better than a blood-sucking mosquito. Swat it.

Too late. The republicans and their greedbag buddies on Wall Street already gave us the New, Improved Great Depression.
I do find it amazing how you people are already working feverishly to deflect blame onto someone, anything, besides your own misguided leadership.

Hey Dino - I notice you're still pretending you haven't read my posts. Go to google, search for "redlining," Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and contributions to Democrats vs Republicans.
It will literally take you no more than five minutes to prove yourself wrong.
I know you won't do it - but unfortunately for you I am going to keep on posting this challenge in every thread in which you mention the economy, to show to others that you won't accept it and demonstrate how little credibility you have.
Also, the economy was doing just fine for 29.5 of the "thirty years" you cite Republicans as having been in power, and its current decline and the precursors to that map PRECISELY to the resurgence of a Democratic party with a say in running the show and trace DIRECTLY to Democratic policies. You aren't going to get away with making emtpy condemnations based on nothing more than who was "in power" at the time. You are a lying coward who won't do a simple five minute google search because you know full well that it would rip the bottom out of your argument and expose it for the empty tripe it is. F*ck you, coward.

"No leader..." (or post turtle for that matter) "... could take us back to 1979 without a revolution"
Obviously someone who's never been to 1979. Been there, got the T-shirt (and it fell apart in the wash long ago) and never felt a desire to go back. The thing is, the second coming of JC (Jimmuh Cahtuh) is the best of the likely scenarios with this punk in the White House, and it probably WILL be 1979 again before you know it.
