Of the many silver linings to yesterday's catastrophe, V the K puts his finger on my favorite:
If only one good thing has come from this election, it's that it is crystal clear who the enemy is. We don't have to compromise any more. We're liberated from having to back mushy moderates just because if the alternative gets power, it would be worse. Well, now the worse alternative is in power, and we have nothing to lose.
When Dems lost in 2000 and 2004, they reacted by moving sharply to the left, and purging their ranks of relative moderates. In 2008, they ran a radical with the most extreme left-wing voting record in the entire Senate against a centrist known for shafting conservatives. You see the results.
The media will find it nearly impossible to spin Chairman O's administration as anything but a disaster, as the consequences of his inexperience, poor judgment, left-wing fanaticism, and corruption manifest themselves. If conservatives learn a lesson and take back the Republican Party from country club Big Government types like W and McAmnesty, there will be a resurgence of Reaganesque proportions in 2012, and very possibly a replay of 1994 in 2010.
Or we can let the mediocrities have the party, and rot away into liberals like Britain's Tories. The choice is ours.

Thanks for the props, VH. I knew there was a reason I included you in the Hitler video.
Another suggestion from Michelle Malkin's comments:
Find a small box and label it Nov 2008 Put the following in it: 1. Grocery bill showing all the normal staples, milk, bread, cheese, meats, cereal…etc.
2. Put your electric/gas bill/telephone/cable/dish or direct tv in it..
3.Put your last couple of fuel bills in it…
4. Put anything else that is subject to change….
Seal it and then open in Sep 2010 and see how you have faired….
I'd add, put your 2007 tax return in that box as well.

I liked what John Derbyshire said last night.
He's right.

Everyone is missing the biggest gift this election gave us. No longer can anyone say America is a racist nation. The charge of racism against conservatives is greatly diminished. It will be much harder to call someone a racist, for how can that be when there an African-American in the White House? Blacks are in for a rude awakening, they will no longer be able to use the race card with abandon and as an excuse for their own failings. In fact when called a racist you just charge back that they are the true racists now. End of argument. In some ways I am looking forward to the next 4 years.

I am looking forward to Americans getting fed up with Chairman O crying 'racism' every time things don't go his way.

Don't be so naive. They will still use the race card every chance they get

Is this what Biden was talking about when he talked of the world testing Obama early?
The 843rd bomb wing is ready for action.
http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=5660
"US intelligence: Iran will be able to build first nuclear bomb by February 2009
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
October 26, 2008, 11:29 AM (GMT+02:00)
US intelligence’s amended estimate, that Iran will be ready to build its first bomb just one month after the next US president is sworn in, is disclosed by DEBKAfile’s Washington sources as having been relayed as a guideline to the Middle East teams of both presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama.
The information prompted the assertion by Democratic vice presidential nominee Joseph Biden in Seattle Sunday, Oct. 19: “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy.”

If you want to know what racism is come to memphis. The black folks around here use there color for every excuse. The next four years will be a litmas test for the black community. They will pull together and make a difference or they will fail. I am neither dem. nor rep. I am an American who does not like the left wing at all. We will all see the true colors come out of this administration in the next 6 months. Get ready America the day of socialism is at hand.

"Disraeli envisioned the Conservative Party as the true national party, while the Whigs were merely the party of intellectual ideas. In that time, English intellectuals and progressives were fascinated with German ideas, just as today Democrats are enchanted with European ideas. Disraeli judged: "In a progressive country, change is constant; and the great question is not whether you should resist change, which is inevitable, but whether that change should be carried out in deference to the manners, the customs, the laws and the traditions of the people or in deference to abstract principles and arbitrary and general doctrines." By championing the vote for the people in a century in which that was inevitable, Disraeli formed a conservative party that dominated British politics for 150 years."
i agree with anon - perhaps now THE MAN will get a break - ha!

mustng66---I'm not sure if I follow you...
Do you mean now you can show your true racist "inner self" instead of hating Obama for every thing else possible under the sun including that he has two arms, two leegs, a head and a body?
Posted by: fez at November 5, 2008 9:20 AM
Well it is a easy one who they will blame.....President Bush. No matter what happens they will blame Bush

Thank you all for playing; we have some lovely consolation prizes for you.
(BTW, I'm sure our new socialist overlord will appreciate that I make no profit - all sales are at my cost!)

Bob - At last they have one that can really be blamed on Bush;
"Why did Obama win?"
"It's bush's fault!"
LOL
Obama beat a man who was not even running.
Ralph Nader summed up the true liberal view of Obama last night on FOX. Hillarious!
Posted by: Jimbo at November 5, 2008 9:43 AM
Actually, considering Bush's approval rating was under 30% the last time I checked, its actually amazing McCain got 46% of the vote. Clinton only got 43% of the vote in 1992. I know, Perot had almost 19% but still.

Another thing I just wanna throw out there: Regardless of this election, over the next few years, conservatives will still be happier than moonbats. We take joy in our faith, our families, and our work. Moonbats... whine, take meds, and ask for handouts. When they realize that three months into the Reign of Hope and Change their lives still suck, it's gonna be a major bummer.
Also, the Circus of O should be good for plenty of laughs over the next few years.

Good point, V the K.
Obama wrote a lot of checks during his campaign and a lot of 'em are gonna bounce.

Take this to the bank - Moonbats will be the first ones to turn on Obama.
As LBJ found out the hard way - Moonbats are never grateful for what you do for them, they only ever resent you for what you didn't do for them.
Kind of like the bum on the street that asks you for a cigarette. You give it to him. Then he asks you for a dollar, and when you don't give him that you hear all about what a rotten bastard you are. Moonbats have the exact same mentality. I expect Mr. Obama will be finding that out all too soon.

Yes, you're right.
I can't wait to enjoy a nice, fresh baked batch of schadenfreude.

While I can't speak for mustng, it's pretty clear that what he meant was now there probably won't be as much whining from those blacks (And they represent only a small minority of our nation's black population yet are VERY loud and vocal about it) who claim America is a horrible racist nation, and who blame every single problem in their lives on what they believe is racism.
To put it in a much more simplified way, fez, do you ever watch "Chappelle's Show"? Have you ever seen a sketch from one of the Lost Episodes called "The Monsters"? That sketch pretty much sums up in a humorous context what he and I were talking about.

Psychologists call it "cognitive dissonance," but "buyers' remorse" will do just fine. No doubt about it, all those who get the freebies (and grouse for more, more, more!), and those who miss out, are going to be plenty pissed at Der Fuehrer. He will have to establish his New SA as quickly as possible in order to train his brownshirts in the tactics of crushing the legions who will complain (re-education camps, not only for us, but for his own minions -- oh, the irony!), lest 2010 usher in another 1994 (I grant you, it doesn't look all that promising right now!).
But a lot can "change" in two years (and most of it looks to be of the wrong kind) . . .

The reason I voted for Obama was to get the hell rid of Dick Cheney and his neocon clan of war for glory and profit pals, many from the PNAC ...Bush was his useful idiot ...though not innocent he may not be intelligent enough to understand what he's helped do to this country and the middle east. Though I believe McCain much better than that evil bunch, he would still be far too much under their influence.
We'll see what Obama can do now, wont we? Psychologists also talk about self fulfilling prophecies... I suggest getting a life again and waiting and seeing what happens ...instead of "wishing it" upon yourselves.

[Mitch McConnel]
Sorry. McConnell stays. He won over the pro baby killing Lunsford by a wide margin according to CNN.
ac1, what you did is called cutting off your nose to spite your face.
After two years (max) of 'Change', you and your 'prog' buddies will loathe Obama as much as you do Bush & Cheney.
Why?
Because, Obama said 'yes' to everyone to get elected. Now he can't say no but he will have to in a lot of cases.
When 'The One' starts the push to wipe out the coal industry and electric bills go up through the roof. Then when America has rolling blackouts and has as reliable an electrical service as a Third World country (like Kenya) even you patchouli stinking libtards will rebel against President Affirmative Action Hire.
I mean, how are you going to make your macrobiotic food if you can't run your Cuisinarts.

Our current situation reminds me of the Republicans in those dark days before Reagan when the "joke" was:
"If the Democrats came out with a plan to ban private property, the Republicans would counter attack by proposing to phase it out over four years."

Here are some quotes from the past that have real meaning for today.
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson
When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.
Thomas Jefferson
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can
only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves
money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority
always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the
public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses
over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age
of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These
nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage
to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from
courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to
selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to
apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage."
--Lord Alexander Tytler on the fall of the Athenian republic
