Dem Congressman Jim Moran Denounces Capitalism, Property Rights

First the good news: Obama may be a Marxist intent on spreading the wealth around, but one guy can't impose communism all by himself, even if the media is able to dupe the public into electing him.

Now for the bad news: Obama is hardly all by himself, and Democrats are predicted to increase their hold on Congress.

Here's Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA), explaining that capitalism "doesn't work in the long run," and that property rights are a "simplistic notion":

The people poised to take over our government are straight out of the bureaucracy of the Soviet Union. But this time we can't use nuclear missiles to keep them at bay. Our country and our way of life are in grave danger.

On a tip from Conan.

Reminds one of 1933 NAZI Germany when the Weimar Republic was bring taken over by Hitler and his majority. Duping the ignarant and the down trodden.

Hitler proved -- It's easy to make moron voters, much harder to make an informed educated electorate.

We need to demand term limits, charlie rangle has been in office 37 YEARS! What the hell is up with that?

Posted by: wizdum at November 4, 2008 3:09 PM

This is the first question I always ask when (for example) some group like Green Peace is in front of a store trying to get a petition or something signed. "Do you believe in private property rights?" I always get that confused stare, then aggitation and finally anger. NO, they DON'T is the answer, of course.

(Tell tale signs: If someone is wearing Birkenstocks, if they're "buying vegan", if they have piercings and tattoos over most of their body, if they have dreadlocks (esp. if they're white, middle class and under 40), if they're a woman and are wearing no makeup and have unshaved legs, then you know they think private property is BAD and GREEDY and not EARTH FRIENDLY.)

Looks like we'll need to quadruple our efforts to keep freedom, liberty and private property in this country after the "coronation" of The One.

As an aside, I hope I run into this political traitor in person. I might end up in jail, but his face would be feeling my response for a month!

...and wizdum, we DO have term limits. It's called "voting". What we NEED is informed voters!

Posted by: matt at November 4, 2008 3:16 PM

I'll give up my hard earned money as soon as Barack, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, and the rest of the smhucks advocating socialism give up theirs. Of course, thats never going to happen.

Posted by: conservativeteen at November 4, 2008 3:38 PM

Birkenstocks! Buying vegan (I thought they grew everything themselves)! No makeup on women! Dogs and cats, living together!! What this country needs is a pair of Bass Weejuns for every voter!!

From sanity in exile.

Since conservatives seem to be in a losing position, it is reasonable to adopt the policies and methods of liberals. From now on conservatives should act towards liberals the way liberals have acted towards conservatives.

From this comes the following rules on how conservatives can adopt liberal methods to deal with liberals:

From now on, every decision should be made based on
whether a person is conservative or not. If you think there is a reason to believe a person is a liberal, be
excessively polite. Smile a lot. Say complimentary things. But under no circumstances, buy their merchandise, hire
them, promote them, say anything good about them, or associate with them. If there is any way to fire them for a legitimate reason--do so immediately. If you are on a jury, listen carefully for evidence whether they are liberal or conservative-- that is the over-riding consideration. If you are in any kind of service position, make sure that service is given only grudgingly and slowly. If you are a merchant, try to cheat or screw any liberal you do business with every time without fail. If your children go to a school, write letters, call with complaints, and threaten lawsuits for every little thing that could even be construed as liberal. Never date, much less marry, a
liberal. If your kids are liberal, cut off their inheritance. If their spouses are liberal try to wreck their marriage. If you are a teacher, lower the grades of any liberal student by at least two grade points and be absolutely savage with your critical remarks especially if anybody is listening. In any discussion, listen just long enough to discern whether the person is a liberal or not, if so start ranting in a louder and louder voice about anything that crosses your mind even if it has nothing to do with the topic--under no circumstances allow the liberal to be reasonable or to refute anything you are ranting about.

Remember, to emulate liberals and use their methods against them, we must fight them in our homes, in our churches, at our jobs, where we shop, in our schools, and at the polls. We must never surrender.

Literally... I cannot believe that they are so bold as to actually say these things out loud, no matter how they may hold them in their heart.

What is more unbelievable is that these ideas are about to gain an ascendancy in the US not seen for the last fifty years. The fundamental nature of this nation is about to change, and we will be the worse for it.

Maybe a little more.

Maybe a little less.

Once people (yes, that includes you, too, liberals) start seeing and feeling the effects of 'Change', your hatred of Obama will rival that you have for Bush.

He-he-he-he-he!

Listen to all the silly little gloaters - they think their little god is going to start delivering the free cheese right to their front doors.

Ha-ha-ha!

They're going to be sooooo disappointed when they wake up on January 21st and STILL have to go to work (if they have jobs), STILL have to pay their mortgages (with less money to do it) and STILL have to worry about putting gas in their cars (only it will cost more).

The day the Big Empty O's tax hikes go into affect, I'll be letting several people go. And they'll have to walk to the free cheese line.

Liberals are such fools - and it's obvious we now live in a nation that is a majority of fools. It's going to be a very entertaining 4-years watching Obama's own riot and burn because he won't be able to come through on a fraction of his promises. (As if he ever intended to!)

LOL!

This blog will flourish with posts of the broken-hearted and "betrayed". Just like when their Nanny Pelosy made all those promises about what would happen when silly liberals controlled congress and became the lowest rated congress in history by a WIDE margin.

The new do-nothing administration will put Nanny to shame. Yes - this will be a good show.

Too bad the tickets cost so much. I really hate to lay hard-working folks off, but that's reality. That's okay. Obama will feed them and pay their mortagages and put gas in their cars. He said so, right? *snicker*

Posted by: Jimbo at November 4, 2008 8:39 PM

Yep. That's my congressman. Or at least the congressdouche assigned to the land mass on which I happen to live.

Hopefully, Obama will become a force of moderation in standing up to the near-Communists infesting his party. There's always that possibility, when Obama starts thinking about how to build a national, durable power base.

Well, fez, I hate to be the first to burst your itsy-bitsy bubble, but...

Awe, never mind. You wouldn't understand. You've obviously never seen (or comprehended) Obama sticking his nose in the air while looking down the same at his inferior "subjects" (like you.)

That's the differnce in you and yours and us - your little god can look down his nose at us, but while we recognize his spasmatic humanity and laugh at him, you don't even seem to notice.

Face it, fez - your in LOOOOOVE!

How odd that the rest-of-the-world's wishes were a primary "reason" for voting for Obama. It seems you'd prefer America to be a follower as opposed to a leader. Go piss on yourself.

Posted by: cowlove at November 4, 2008 9:19 PM

Warning to all, especially wizdum, do NOT make any kind of threat against these folks, even in jest. While the Left routinely advocates doing all kinds of evil things to Bush, Republicans, and conservatives, Obama and his group will take all this very seriously. Seriously. The Gestapo and the National Security force will crackdown.

Anyway, the only issue outstanding, imho, is whether the fabled Senate Filibuster will be any detriment. The first time the filibuster is used on an "important" piece of legislation will be the tell-tell point of how far the Left will go. My guess is they will just nuke the filibuster and spend two glorious years shoving their agenda through.

I just can't believe you people are serious... you really think Obama is going to turn your world upside down...?

It's like your genetically paranoid and something or other just has to get in your brain and fill it with fear ...doesn't matter what exactly...

Very little will ever change in this country... your taxes may go up a few percent ...so what ...no one is going to take away your guns...thats just crap the NRA tells you so you keep giving them money.... America become socialist? HA HA HA! Have any of you ever spent time in Europe? They mostly laugh when you shake in your boots about socialism. They pay higher taxes but do not live in fear of the high cost of or losing their health care, having to work for pathetic minimum wages, or dying in the gutter. Mass transit is very good ...you can exist without a car though I know many of you couldn't live without "wheels" as toy-status symbol... and you think your so much more free? Free to do what exactly????? Spend your whole life stressed out,(and there are some stressed out people here on MoonBat) building up your stash while protecting it with your gun, so you can retire or incase "something" happens ...if you dont loose it all when your stocks or what ever crash and can afford to die on clean white sheets... welcome to America ....it is never going to be like Europe... maybe a tiny step or two.... but big business rules this country. That will never change. No month long vacations here. No weekends off here if you boss says no. No "living" wage... thank god.

I think the only appropriate thing to say here is GET A LIFE!

Daily Kos and/or Democratic Underground wanted to impeach Pelosi at one point (might still do, I dunno) for not immediately halting the Iraq war and initiating impeachment proceedings against Bushitler & co. Not sure if the leftard community would presume to have as much say in what the Messiah does, as they seem to have a sort of godlike reverence for his every word, but it's something of an indication of how they will turn on their own for failing to deliver on the unrealistic causes they are so invested in. If the trend holds I almost feel sorry for Obama in advance.

They pay higher taxes but do not live in fear of the high cost of or losing their health care,

You are so full of shit it is incredible. People in England have their National Health doled out to them by lottery according to their post code; they pull their own teeth out with pliers because they can't get a dentist; die in the waiting line for treatable problems, and receive the most substandard health care this side of Cuba.

having to work for pathetic minimum wages, or dying in the gutter.

Yeah, yeah. There are no homeless people in Europe, blah blah blah. Oh look everyone gets a high hourly wage! Oh wait don't relate the other side of the story - that inflation is so incredibly high and the single currency so inefficient that it's literally a stretch for people to afford a pack of cigarettes every other day.

Mass transit is very good ...you can exist without a car though I know many of you couldn't live without "wheels" as toy-status symbol

Um yeah that is totally why people have cars. It's not because you would ever need to carry a lot of stuff, or get somewhere specific in a hurry, or travel somewhere where there is no public transport. It's just a status symbol with no real use at all.

... and you think your so much more free? Free to do what exactly?????

Um have cars if we choose to, spend our money on what we want, donate to charity if we feel there is a need rather than having a socialist government dictate to us what is necessary for the greater good of society, and so on.

Spend your whole life stressed out,(and there are some stressed out people here on MoonBat)

That's funny. Last I checked the highest suicide rates in the world were in Sweden, Japan and France. Oh and if you think Moonbattery readers are stressed out you clearly don't read Democratic Undergound or any other forums on the opposite side of the aisle.

...building up your stash while protecting it with your gun, so you can retire or incase "something" happens ...

Yeah, who needs to do that? It's not like a hurricane called Katrina would ever strike your city and you'd be completely unprepared for it, or anything, I mean right?

if you dont loose it all when your stocks or what ever crash and can afford to die on clean white sheets... welcome to America ....it is never going to be like Europe... maybe a tiny step or two.... but big business rules this country. That will never change.

Bollocks. Great bolshy yarblockos. You have no idea whatsoever about the power structure. Politicians and government run the US far more than any big business; they are a drop in the pond compared to political machines. The absolute most a big business could do to run anything at all is support one politician over another. Corporations and business are the last best stand of the individual and freedom against encroachment of government. They ARE freedom; government is slavery.

No month long vacations here. No weekends off here if you boss says no. No "living" wage... thank god.

No trade unions hamstringing industry; well, not as much as in Europe, anyway. Oh and look at that percapita GDP is how much higher in the US than in the EU? Hey, enjoy pulling your own teeth out with pliers, rationing your cigarettes and taking the subway because you can't afford a car, at least you have the comfort of paying higher taxes to enjoy all those great benefits! Oh wait, something wrong with this picture.

I think the only appropriate thing to say here is GET A LIFE!

The only appropriate thing to say to you is get a bloody clue. As for having a life - um yeah trolling around a conservative board using mindless liberal arguments to try and prove to yourself how superior you are to the regular posters here ain't much indication of having a life that is fulfilling or particularly enjoyable. Maybe do some soul searching before you project, hm?

I don't get it fez. I assume you voted for Obama because you liked what he had to say (i.e. his policies). Now you're saying you don't really believe anything he said...

We're not on here making things up. The Fairness Doctrine is real and is garnering support among, you guessed it, Dems. Obama's tax plan is real, and destined for failure. His desire to "edit" the Constitution, bloat the government, spread the wealth, etc. etc. is real. There is no paranoia required here. Obama has been very upfront about his plans, albeit their shifting from day to day. If you don't believe him then why the hell did you vote for him?

Xanti,

I lived in for 5+ years Europe, mostly Holland, traveling some to Germany France Italy but lived in England some as well and had several encounters with their system which were just fine.

What ever the deficiencies in the various health care schemes there, they are human after all (England doesn't really consider itself Europe) they make up for it in the quality of the food and alcoholic beverages....(plus less stressful "lifestyles") Here we have McDonalds and Applebees-like food? and beer made from cheap rice and chemicals (Bud etc), slowly poisoning ourselves, driving everywhere seldom getting exercise, while getting the blood pressure up about a 3% tax raise, fear of gun confiscation, scrambling to get more for less, scheming for the "American Dream" of wealth and power ...so we then really do need to have the most expensive health care available... and lots of magic pills to fix you up hide and the problem

Posted by: fex at November 5, 2008 10:31 AM

Speaking of the NHS... I sliced up my finger pretty badly over the weekend, nearly severed a tendon. It may well have needed stitches, but I didn't go to the hospital with it to find out. You know why? Last time I was in there, the place was a shithole. Just walking in there puts your risk of getting MRSA or some other nasty untreatable infection so high that it's a wonder you don't drop dead inside the door. I didn't go. I preferred to suffer the indignity of a nasty scar rather than run that risk twice.

Here is where my father would have died from a bacterial infection because the standard treatment regimen is to prescribe a generic anti-biotic for two weeks to see if it'll work, before moving on to the stronger stuff that might actually be effective. It's a great filter. You don't have to spend money prescribing drugs to people if they die in the meantime. My father didn't die because he got treatment while we were in France, where they don't have a national health service but have basic socialised medical insurance, topped up with private insurance.

People regularly die from pneumonia, infections and easily treated diseases and injuries because there's no money in the system. Because it's rationed. because social healthcare by necessity has to implement rationing in order to be "free". People die when they could survive.

People die because they go into hospital with

Oh but sure, you have your nationalised social healthcare, fez. Enjoy dying because you can't get the basic drugs you might need to survive.

Posted by: Archonix at November 5, 2008 10:48 AM

...and they don't die here or get unnecessarily sicker because they fear they can't afford what a doctors visit might led to? They aren't bankrupted because they lost their job, lost their health care, have a pre-existing condition and no longer can get insurance and have to pay that $200,000 bill themselves. They aren't given un-necessary operations and drugs (well documented) to pay for some, not all, of the doctors, hospitals and pharma pushers own personal American Dream of getting rich?

Something in the middle I think... and time to take a deep look at this decrepit concept "the American Dream"...

fez is a typical liberal, always looking for more Government regulations, and a lot less personal responsibility. According to fez's world, the problem isn't the food people put in their own mouth - it's McDonald Corporation! People not walking enough? Ford Corp. You shouldn't be worried about the Government trampling your right to Government, or confiscating money you earned! Go back to sleep people, the Governments in control.
