As the Fire Dwindles, the Wolves Close In

What kind of future are we leaving for the next generation, now that we have embraced our civilization's decline by electing Barack Obama? Britain can show us — it's one step ahead on the road to voluntary ruin. This story is emblematic:

A senior police officer has been attacked by a gang and hit with a brick while out with his wife and son.
He was targeted by four people — one a girl of 15 — in Surrey.
Det Supt Gary Richardson, 49, deputy chief of Operation Trident, the drive against gun crime in black communities, was attacked in West Molesey. …
Surrey Police … said he was walking along a road with his family when he was attacked. Two men shouted abuse before hitting him on the back of the head with a brick.

The perpetrators were arrested, but they're out on bail.

When police officers can't take their families out the door without risking attack by savages, it appears the poets' bleakest prophesies are coming true. As Yeats foresaw the triumph of moonbattery:

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

At least when the flame of civilization flickers out, we won't have to worry about it causing global warming.

On a tip from conservativeteen.

Sounds like that Yeats fella is some kind of wingnut. They should probably play it safe and ban his "hate speech" if they haven't already.

"Passionate intensity?" Like, for example, the elevation of a corrupt, inexperienced Chicago politician to the level of near-godhood?

"..the drive against gun crime in black communities,..."

I see their gun ban is working well.

And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison, and go forth and deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, and will gather them together for the battle; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up over the breadth of the earth and encompassed the camp of the saints, and the beloved city.

They all should get life in prison including the 15 year old bitch

Brothers and sisters i would use "passionate intensity" to describe my relation ship with God, would you not?

Next week's secondary headline in the Times (London that is):

New brick control legislation!
[article]
The House has had a first reading of new legislation that will require all bricks to contain tagants that will uniquely identify the brick and the maker. All goods yards will henceforth keep a record by serial number of each and every brick bought and then sold at public purchase. Said records to be held for 25 years and open to inspection at any time by authorities including the new Royal Brick Control Authority. [ etc. ]

(six months later...)
Violent crime with bricks on the rise!

"Moral relativism" is as stupid as the "Neuremburg defence".

The passionate intensity Yeats is describing in this poem is not necessarily a bad thing.

'Passionate intensity' can be bad or good; not depending on your point of view but in regards to objective acts.

For instance, passionate intensity in someone's love of God, family and country can be a very good thing. Passionate intensity turned towards destructive or hateful aims is not.

The latter is the type of passionate intensity I believe that he is referring to.

In regards to the moonbats, they think that their anti-American, anti-life pro-Marxist philosophies put them on the side of the angels. Because they think that they are doing good when they are really doing evil embodies the 'passionate intensity' Yeats was referring ironically to. I.E. the mindless, blind mob.

This may be of interest.
