Toledo Blade Calls for Obama to Impose Communism
Most people who support Obama don't know any better. But what about the media, whose neglected job it is to inform the public about his life history as an ultra-left radical? They must know something about the candidate they have been hyping into the White House. Do they want the country ruled by Marxists?
As far as the Toledo Blade is concerned, the answer is yes. Yesterday's lead editorial hauls out FDR's misgotten "Second Bill of Rights," strongly implying that it ought to be imposed by Obama, who has the ideological background to pick up where the socialist Roosevelt left off.
Although FDR was able to exploit the Great Depression to give our country a hard shove away from liberty and toward collectivism, his Second Bill of Rights thankfully went nowhere. It included:
• The right to a useful, remunerative job in industries, shops, farms, or mines.
• The right to earn enough to provide adequate food, clothing, and recreation.
• The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return that will provide a decent living.
• The right of every businessman to trade with freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies.
• The right of every family to a decent home.
• The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health.
• The right to protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment.
• The right to a good education.
Sounds good — until you realize that only a totalitarian communist regime could guarantee universal access to these goodies. If trading freedom and opportunity for government-guaranteed subsistence is such a great deal, why do refugees who set out to sea on leaky rafts out of sheer desperation always seem to be leaving countries like Vietnam and Cuba, where this trade has been made on their behalf?

The right of every family to a decent home
This is one of the main reasons our economy is stumbling right now.

I guess the opportunity and freedom of choice to achieve those things is simply not enough for the weak.

"The right to be a fucking idiot, and then expect a hard working family to take care you."
They forgot that one.

The right of every businessman to trade with freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies.
That would require we actually have a Free Market Economy, something neither Osama (like alot of Democrats) nor McStain (like alot of Republicans) are in favour of since they both prop up the fraud called The Federal Reserve. I'm beginning to think that all parties at the Federal level should be abolished. Either that or maybe the States should simply remove themselves from the Compact they entered under when they joined the Union of the United States and we should start over with the Federal government.
No matter who wins (truthfully) we're gonna be in for major sucking in the next 4 to 8 years. If its Obama, well, Der Furher will simply be more overt about his plans. If its McStain, then we'll have Statism Creep. At this point, I'm not sure which one scares me more.

Has anyone here ever took a REAL HARD LOOK at the Great Depression?
• The right to a useful, remunerative job in industries, shops, farms, or mines.
Ever hear of "the company store" where you bought food and other nessities for three or four times their value elsewhere? You couldn't go "elsewhere" ether, you had to pay the company for food, clothing, housing, tools, ect untill you OWED THE COMPANY more than you made. Slave ownership may have been abolished, but WAGE slavery stayed with us (Thanks to the NORTH) far into the twentieth century.
• The right to earn enough to provide adequate food, clothing, and recreation.
Sharecropping was still in effect untill it became cheaper to use tractors. People were working for FOOD, or for what fruit they could pick up off the ground to feed their families.
• The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return that will provide a decent living.
Farm prices were DOWN, even durring the "prosperous" twenties. c1934 the price of a bushel of weat in Kansas was MINUS three cents.
• The right of every businessman to trade with freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies.
Another "Roosevelt" was known as a "trustbuster". The key phrase is "unfare competition" There were some REALLY dirty tricks played by businessmen way back when; some involved "detectives" with clubs and dynamite. In answer to your obvious question, there were paid-off police and judges, too.
• The right of every family to a decent home.
Is it really the home owner's fault when the rain fails to fall on his crops, or the company he works for fails, or his bank goes under? Sharecroppers were hit hardest because they didn't own the land, they just worked it for rent and a portion of the crops to sell at market (this was sort of like the old feudal system).
• The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health.
Pass. Not government's job.
• The right to protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment.
Pass. Not government's job.
• The right to a good education.
We pay taxes for this. Durring the depression, people lost their jobs, homes and investment so they couldn't pay their taxes. Many cities layed off teachers, garbage collectors, cops, and others.
I am NOT saying that the FEDERAL government should take over these things, not even durring the meanest of times. But there are a few things that ARE the job of the state, local and federal government and they had D**N well better get their butts in gear and do it right!
