Think Twice, Michigan

I come from Michigan, and, frankly, the people who were smart enough to get out left a long time ago. There are some good folks left, but they are vastly outnumbered by Detroit welfare cases and union zombies. How else to explain the stupidity of re-electing Jennifer Granholm and Debbie Stabenow... two of the state's dimmest bulbs.
As an exercise a year ago, I wrote out the names of two-dozen people I knew from Michigan. 4 were unemployed, 6 were self-employed, 4 were employed in the private sector, and 12 were public employees. That is simply unsustainable.
My sister and her husband are teachers, and a few years ago bought a 4800 square foot house on six acres at a fire-sale price. All the other houses in that relatively upscale neighborhood are also being bought by teachers, because teaching school is the only steady, lucrative work anyone can get.
Yet, the same unionist Democrats who drove industry out of the state are continually re-elected.
Stupidity.

This is good but not enough. We need more truth out there to maybe save the election

It won't matter, Nancee. My friends who are Ozombies don't care about the truth. They don't listen, then proceed to spew "facts" about how Sarah Palin wants to make birth control illegal and that John McCain single-handedly caused the economic situation we're in. The sad thing is that these Ozombies are so influential in the media that they pretty much control what the average American thinks. So it seems that truth is not really a prized commodity by America these days.

V the K,
I live in the shadow of New Mogadishu (Detroit). You're exactly right about the real estate prices and the teachers' union.

Thulsa,
Obama could rape a girl scout on live TV and people would still vote for him. Just wait and see the self-righteous outcry that follows a fallout and prosecution from this Rezko affair if it bears fruit.

I live in Michigan and last year started a small business. In April of this year we expanded 100% (bought another truck) and in the spring I plan to by a third. Personally, I refuse to participate in Michigans single state recession being perpetrated by our liberal governor.
I can see things getting bad if "The One" gets elected because I, like thousands of other small businesses in the country, will fall into the "over $250K per year" class. How to avoid these new taxes? Lay off our employees and close up shop. That sounds like a SUPER way to jumpstart the economy, and the Dems JUST. DONT. GET. IT.
But the media is a powerful thing, even people who are "undecided" parrot the views of the news channels because it is all they hear. I used to belong to a union but couldn't stomach the party they supported year after troubled year and left for a non-union job where those with skills were rewarded, instead of those with connections.
I hope for the best this election but I fear that we may truly be in for dark times ahead......

V-K - I'm afraid to click your link. I've had enough bad news this week.
I look forward to church in the morning so I can listen to some "Good news".
What a week.
