Palin Rally "Kill Him" Allegation Was False

Remember when MSNBC's amazing talking cockroach Keith Olbermann righteously denounced Sarah Palin for not objecting when someone shouted "Kill him!" after Obama's name had been mentioned at a rally, even though she wasn't even there at the time this allegedly happened? Turns out the media made up the whole thing:

The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled "kill him" when presidential hopeful Barack Obama's name was mentioned during Tuesday's Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.
The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Obama's name a man in the audience shouted "kill him."
News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.
Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.
"I was baffled," he said after reading the report in Wednesday's Times-Tribune.
He said the agency conducted an investigation Wednesday, after seeing the story, and could not find one person to corroborate the allegation other than Singleton.
Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell "kill him."

But it doesn't matter if stories are true; it only matters if they can be used to plant negative impressions in the weeks leading up to the election. The liberal establishment media has reached the point of having no credibility at all.

Comments

I wouldnt be suprised if Obamabots will show up at McCain rallies to shout anti-Obama comments that will make the news.

The big lie theory in action. See also, "Palin banned library books" and "Palin charged rape victims for rape kits."

Scranton? Is that in the Racist part, or the Non-Racist part of Pennsylvania?

Posted by: mh at October 16, 2008 12:44 PM

Where's Ol'Blam-Blam's "truth squad" and what are they doing to stop these lies?
HA!!

Posted by: KHarn at October 16, 2008 1:40 PM

The Truth Squads, like The Big Lie only work in one direction: left.

It's just KNOWN in the "progressive" community that Palin lies, she is anti-woman, she charges for rape kits, she bans books, she encourages hate speech...I mean, she is SARAH PALIN. Genetically, these nincompoops HAVE to hate her.

Just like the reason Obama is still within a few points of McCain is because America is racist. If we WEREN'T, we'd see he's the savior and it would be a landslide for him.

I posted this elsewhere, but I think it bears reposting.

And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.
- Thomas Jefferson

One might also point out, for fairness sake, that a fellow arrested two months ago for threatening to assassinate Barack Obama had also made the same threat against Bush. This happens and sorry to be a putz, but the 1st Amendment has no caveats. It is not a crime until you pull the trigger. Everything else is a thought crime in my opinion (sorry, but there it is). If politicians don't like being threatened with being turned into bloody Swiss cheese, perhaps they will refrain from pissing on 'us little people'.

Olbermann the vile cockroach STOMP HIM SQUSH HIM and the MSNBC PEACOCK WRING ITS LYING NECK

Posted by: Spurwing Plover at October 16, 2008 9:20 PM

There are still allegations outstanding that "kill him" was shouted at other Palin rallies... But you can safely assume they are false too.

I'd also assume if I was you that all the "Obama is a musliam arab terrorist second string negra" stuff you're hearing about is Dem-planted and designed to make McCain/Palin supporters look foolish.

That should work.

Thank you so much for your contribution, ptet. It will be duly filed with the rest of the talking points issued by the Daily Kos and the Huffington Post to loyal Obama Drones that we get here daily.

So, right, everyone who disagrees with you must be following "talking points", but everyone who agrees with you is an independent thinker and a patriot?

Posted by: ptet at October 17, 2008 9:00 AM

Then how do you explain this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVFWahLTdUo

13 seconds into it, a man clearly yells "Kill him!"

Posted by: Cookie Monster at October 17, 2008 9:39 AM

"ptet at October 17, 2008 7:55 AM"

I and other people have never heard such accusation. Give us some sorces or shut up.

"Cookie Monster at October 17, 2008 9:39 AM"

"CLEARLY"? Nope, I played it TEN TIMES and I can only say WITH HONESTY that it MIGHT POSSIBLY have sounded like "kill that sucker".
But why do you Liberals say it was at a PALIN rally? Facts seem to elude you.

"13 seconds into it, a man clearly yells 'Kill him!' "

well, one thing we know for sure... NObody would ever edit or "enhance" a youtube video, would they?
