Bill Clinton says Obama is wrong about his 1999 repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122282635048992995.html
So really Clinton is saying Obama is wrong about this economic mess. Never much trusted Clinton before but interesting he is willing to buck the DNC "deregulation is the problem myth."

Chris Matthews: "Jennifer Granholm is a genius, so can she play Sarah Palin in Joe Biden's debate prep?"

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/geoffrey-dickens/2008/09/30/matthews-biden-sparring-partner-genius-can-she-play-palin

Hey tweety, ask anyone from Michigan (who does NOT reside in Detroitistan) if Jezebel Granholm is a genius you tingly-legged, Obamunist troll. Go ahead, I dare ya.

Just keep repeating to yourself: No one "solving" the current financial crisis has a conflict of interest.

Granholm is dested everywhere save Detroit (go figure). This woman is a train wreck. We had a good chance with conservative businessman Dick Devoss but, alas, the lib moonbats prevented this from happening. As is always the case, the blacks would rather vote for a dem than someone who could do some good. I wish that Detroit would just float away into Lake Michigan, leaving rational, intelligent people to do the voting.

MEDIA MANIPULATION

Anyone else get the feeling this election is rigged and being orchestrated in newsrooms?

Thirty years ago, pre-Fox News, pre- Washington Times, and pre-Drudge, unfavorable political stories could be interred so deeply in liberal newspapers’ and television networks’ files that they never saw the light of publicity. Today Fox and the Times out them but with little effect.

We can almost dismiss the media’s ignoring scandals such as Speaker Pelosi paying off her hubby with PAC money: http://www.washtimes.com/news/2008/oct/01/pelosis-pac-pays-bills-for-spouses-firm/. That can be considered just more Democratic same-ol’.

DrudgeReport.com features two other reports today which are far more relevant for November 4th and which demonstrate the mainstream media putsch aimed at electing Senators Obama and Biden as president and vice president of the United States.

Regrettably, this is nothing new. That media has gone so far to the left in recent decades that it’s on the verge of falling off the charts. Yet, despite the fact their Machiavellian machinations are predicated on the gullibility of the American electorate, the media failed in 1980 and 1984 when Reagan upset their schemes, as well as in 1968 and 1972 when Nixon did likewise.

However, Senator John McCain is no Reagan, or Nixon, and the mainstreamers are better entrenched in positions of power in 2008 so it remains to be seen if their manipulation of the minds of the electorate will hit paydirt on November 4th.

It’s one thing to watch Katie Couric try her gotchas on Governor Palin, since we know Katie is struggling for gravitas, and failing; her interviews were even bested by the crew of Saturday Night Live: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/01/arts/television/01rati.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&ref=television&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin.

It’s quite another to read reports such as those below and realize what a pickle the nation is in...

Cynthia McKinney: National Guard executed 5,000 prisoners after Hurricane Katrina.

That's some industrial grade lunacy, there.

ELLEN ADVOCATES MAKING (LESBIAN) LOVE, NOT WAR, AND DEFEATING PROPOSITION 8

Ellen Degeneres, sometimes less than affectionately known as Ellen Degenerate, used Leno’s “Tonight Show” podium last night to advocate against Proposition Eight in California: http://television.aol.com/tvtop5/ellens-plea-the-tonight-show/2261100?icid=200100397×1210673684x1200657447.

Ellen contended that millions of dollars are being raised by proponents of the proposition, which–radically, it appears– amends the California constitution to state that marriage always has been and always should a contract between a man and a woman. It would therefore effectively ban “gay marriages.”

Ellen generously suggested that those millions would be better spent on people whose mortgages are being foreclosed rather than on “hate.” Leno seemed all in favor of defeating Proposition Eight, although he did seem flummoxed when he yammered on about how neat and clean gay West Hollywood was and said profoundly, “If two people want to…have something together,” then so what?

Being a Noo Yawker, I knew next to nothing about Proposition Eight and did some research. For a fairly objective analysis of its provisions, its proponents and opponents, and possible effect on the national election, please see http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php?title=California_Proposition_8_(2008)#Background.

Now, Ms. Degeneres is of course entitled to express her opinions, although I don’t see a comedy/entertainment hour as a proper venue for such a pitch unless, that is, Leno provides equal time to those who favor the proposition.

Don’t hold your breath on that prospect which is as likely as Leno, or Letterman, providing a platform for Phyllis Schlafley or Dr. Laura to expound on their views. The Hollywood elite wouldn’t like that and the late night comedians would be hosting stupid animal tricks five nights a week.

Other than that inequity, which is part and parcel of what Jay and Dave do to entertain their audiences, namely by providing one-sided, leftist, liberal points of view, I think Proposition Eight makes a great deal of sense, but it won’t make a damned bit of difference....

OBAMA–MOVING ON UP IN CHICAGO POLITICS: PART TWO

(Please see, “Obama’s Tainted, Adoptive Town, Chicago: Part One [http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?paged=3, September 23, 2008.] )

Part One discussed Chicago, the early corrupt years, and Senator Obama’s middle years when he changed his nickname from Barry to his given, Muslim name, Barack, or “blessed one,” in Arabic.

He was moving on up.

Barry moved on up—to booze, pot and coke, according to his book—before entering Occidental College, then Columbia, and then up to the corporate world for a while.

He moved, laterally, to Chicago in 1985 and became a “community organizer” and joined Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ before entering Harvard Law in 1988. Not too shabby a vita for the son of a former shepherd.

In any event, all this name stuff is irrelevant—except that it does cast some doubt on Barry/Barack’s professed Christianity and it does link him to Islam, unfairly or not.

Obama professes to be a Christian and I’m certain he wouldn’t fib. As a good Catholic friend said of him, “Well, he says he’s a Christian, no?”

Actually, that depends on the meaning of “no.”

A Muslim planning a run for any office in predominantly Christian America would have to take great pains to establish his Christian credentials, such as marrying in a church rather than in a mosque and having his kids baptized in that church. Such actions would either prove that candidate had made a sea change in his religious belief– or that the candidate would resort to virtually anything to be elected.

Whether the Trinity United Church of Christ could accurately be described as a Christian church is debatable, however. TUCC does not exclude White people but its commitment to a “Black value system” as opposed to an American value system, its pastors’ racist, anti-American screeds, its adulation of Louis Farrakhan, and its reference to W.E.B. Dubois in its Mission Statement, lead one to think that Obama’s Chicago church may talk the Black values talk but falls far short of walking the Christian value walk.

Barack returned to the “City of the Big Shoulders,” as the socialist poet, Carl Sandburg called Chicago, after graduating Yale Law School. He became a civil rights attorney and social activist, always keeping up his attendance at TUCC, and then plunged headlong into Illinois politics as a State Senator from Chicago’s south side district of Hyde Park.

That area’s residents have included such illustrious figures as:...

A FOND ADIEU

With this post, I bid the many visitors to my website, to those who agree with my articles and to those who consider them a profound insult to humanity and examples of pretentious writing, a fond adieu.

This is not a farewell, just an adieu, and I hope that in my absence of a few weeks visitors will look back into the archives of a few hundred articles and read some since I believe they are all still relevant and topical.

Okay, most are still relevant and topical.

This website has garnered a greater degree of traffic, as in visitors, more than I ever expected it to, and I thank you all for visiting and hope you all learned something or at least benefitted to some degree from my ramblings.

A few semi-final thoughts:

My country, our country, is in dire straits and faces an even more dire future unless Senator John McCain wins on November 4th. I don’t even like the man and I don’t like many of his policies and proposals. (See previous, early, posts.)

Nevertheless, considering the alternative, McCain/Palin represent the last best hope for the survival of the United States, the last best hope for the planet.

May God bless and save America.

Ave atque vale.

Years ago I read a quote which this election cycle keeps pushing up from my subconscious. Hitler had just gained power and someone, a pastor I believe, said (sorry, paraphrased. many years ago)"God has sent Hitler to sift us and show what kind of a people we are."

Hate to think it's our turn; you know?
