First London Snow in October Since 1934

If the Obama regime wants to exploit the global warming hoax to facilitate the imposition of socialism, it may have to censor weather reports. London was just hit with snow in October for the first time in 74 years:

Just two days after the end of British Summertime, the first snowfall of the year saw a lorry driver killed when his vehicle collided with another lorry on the M40 in Buckinghamshire.
Tonnes of lard being carried in one of the lorries was left strewn over all six lanes of the motorway causing long delays.
Thousands of homeowners were today without power after high voltage cables were brought down by the night's snowfall.
Clusters of homes in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire were affected and energy provider EDF said it would work throughout the day to reconnect supplies.
Even London was hit by a light dusting last night — the first time the capital has seen snow in October since 1934.

It looks like the polar bears will be safe after all.

Global warming hits London.

(Imagine a high nasal voice) "Don't you stupid wingnuts know the difference between climate and weather? Just because Global Temperatures have dropped dramatically, glaciers are growing, the Arctic ice cap is expanding rapidly, and there has been snow in parts of the world for the first time in decades... even all of this put together doesn't mean that your SUV's and barbecues aren't burning up the Earth and raising the temperature a thousand degrees in the next eight years!!! We're doomed!!! Unless we all switch to poisonous mercury lightbulbs, we're all doomed!!!! Doomed!!!"

It snowed in the northwest mountains of NC last night. I don't know if this is the earliest snowfall ever recorded for October or not. But anyway it will be the earliest several ski resorts have ever opened. (Several are making snow hoping to open this weekend.)

Hey, there's a Porshe and a BMW parked in that street! It's good to see they are still allowed to own those models there. Have they devised a punitive tax to discourage owning nice cars yet?

Its the SUN SPOTS! Sun is quieter than its been in quite some time. If the SUN doesnt crank back up soon, we will soon be worrying about how to pay for escalating home heating bills.

Of course you can make money off solar cycles or get massive government grants to combat them. So pretty much everyone ignores it.

Who cares its called 'climate change' now so it doesnt matter if it gets cold or hot or if there is a hurricane talk about hedging your bets no matter turn off your lights for an hour tonight, two hours tomorrow nights and for two whole days this weekend.

We will be flying in Al Gore(or one of his associates)to lecture you in town squarte how thats a good first start, but now its time to buy a hybrid or dont drive, and let us know if one of your neighbors doesnt vote for the democratic socialist party and doesnt recycle

Just think those jerks from GREENPEACE and AL GORE will blame this on GLOBAL WARMING just like they always do with the hurricanes becuase their all a bunch of opertunists

It was at least twenty degrees colder than normal in Florida yesterday. Some of my friends are wondering if we'll get snow this winter.

Yes Liberals, it HAS snowed in Florida several times before; three times durring my lifetime.

Strike that "at least" above. I ment "about".

Posted by: KHarn at October 29, 2008 1:20 PM

It's that doggone global warming and you know it.

It has also snowed in San Francisco in the San Bruno mountains in the mid-70s and I know this for a fact because I had just moved there from Ohio and felt responsible for the snow!

The conceit that mankind has ANYTHING to do with climate change is just absurd. Anyone with functioning and realistic brain cells knows better. We aren't gods, although liberals believe that THEY are the silly twits.

Kharn, check this out:

It seems the eastern US, as a whole, is well below average temps. The western US is experiencing above average temps. See, global warming is real. (But only west of the Texas panhandle, lol.) It must be all the smugness emanating from the LA basin and the Bay area. We need to petition congress to put a cap on elitist liberal emissions before it's too late! I'd like to be first to collect some enviro-bat reduction credits.

"Tonnes of lard being carried in one of the lorries was left strewn over all six lanes of the motorway causing long delays."

I thought lard was illegal, now. It's worse contraban than cocaine in some parts of the US. Can you imagine getting busted with a truck load of lard in a school zone in Berkeley??? They'd throw you in jail forever.

Climate change is real, it's called winter, spring, summer and fall. ;)

Continued cooling will be blamed on global warming, now called "climate change" (did you see The Day After Tomorrow? They already took care of that. Global warming was going to change the ocean currents, mess up our weather systems, and thus cause an almost immediate iceage). They were blaming the "coming ice age" on aerosol cans and car pollution back in the 70s. It won't be no thing to switch back to global cooling. And, when it starts heating up again, they'll blame that on America and Americans who do actual work.

It's interesting that the cyclic nature of weather is clearly embodied each year in our seasons, yet lefties cannot extrapolate that to thing that there are macro-seasons and even macro-macro seasons that most likely explain ice ages and warm periods. Were done with the dog-days of macro-summer, and we're headed into a macro-autumnal cycle that will make for somewhat cooler summers and even cooler winters. And as with the four seasons, some macro-seasons are undoubtedly more severe. If this will be a particularly cold macro-winter, there is no telling. But it may be. It's looking likely to be pretty cold for some folks right now.

It's SUVs. All those SUVs. And yuppies. With their constant breathing. They cause global warming. Damn middle-class. If only there was some form of carbon tax . . .

Did you ever see the movie MUNSTER GO HOME? where they go to england so HERMIN can inherit a forture at the end when they dont like the clear cloudless night when their leaving GRANDPA throws a poweder in the air and it starts snowing on them and by the time they drive out there already a foot of snow

Posted by: Spurwing Plover at October 29, 2008 7:39 PM

If that 's London in the photo, I think you've flipped the image. they drive - and park - on the left over there...

Posted by: jclyerly at October 30, 2008 4:05 AM

Now TINY TIM can pop some eco-wacko right in the face with a snowball

Posted by: Spurwing Plover at October 30, 2008 7:50 AM

Actually, they can park facing either direction.

Posted by: Seven at October 30, 2008 11:20 AM

London it is, and right hand drive cars they are. Check the windscreen wipers....

Posted by: Aussie-John at October 30, 2008 8:56 PM

Clearly you don't know the difference between climate and weather.

Posted by: roald at October 31, 2008 7:31 AM

I can confirm that in England we park pointing either way - it is technically a no no (I know this as my Dad got a ticket from a policeman around about 1970 - who happened to be our neighbour so I'm suspecting the Highway Code wasnt the only reason) but they pretty much let us get on with it.
