Democrat Bigwig Has "Non-Filer Syndrome"
Just because Democrats love raising taxes doesn't mean they love paying them. From New York:
Gov. Paterson's chief of staff now says he owed nearly $300,000 in back taxes, $100,000 more than was previously known — and his lawyer blamed the problem on "non-filer syndrome."
Charles O'Byrne's attorney, Richard Kestenbaum, mentioned the virtually unheard-of ailment at a briefing for reporters intended to quell the firestorm surrounding O'Byrne's failure to file income-tax returns from 2001 to 2005.
O'Byrne, 49, a former Jesuit priest with close ties to the Kennedy family, has already blamed his neglect to file — first reported by The Post — on clinical depression.
Sometimes I get the blues when I think of the government expropriating the money I earn and spending most of it to build socialism at the expense of everything America is supposed to stand for. I must have non-filer syndrome too. But I'm not a Democrat Governor's Chief of Staff, so no one is likely to care.

I am certain that if one of us plebeians ever came down with 'non-filers syndrome', the IRS would be all too happy to apply a cure in the form of hefty fines and lengthy prison terms.

Such suffering O'Byrne must be going through. Is there any hope for a cure to non-filer syndrome? There should be federal funding for research.
In the meantime, just try to rest comfortably, Charles, and don't worry about those back taxes. The rest of us will pay them.

Is a priest "with close ties to the Kennedy family" really a priest? To be lumped in with them would seem to so besmirch the integrity that one might consider tearing off one's collar in self-loathing. It's kind of like: Is a presidential candidate with close ties to assorted terrorists and bigots really a [legitimate] presidential candidate?
