Atlanta Police Recruit Criminals
It's getting harder to tell the cops from the robbers in Atlanta:
More than one-third of recent Atlanta Police Academy graduates have been arrested or cited for a crime, according to a review of their job applications. The arrests ranged from minor offenses such as shoplifting to violent charges including assault. More than one-third of the officers had been rejected by other law enforcement agencies, and more than half of the recruits admitted using marijuana.
But at least Atlanta isn't following the New Orleans practice of having the police formally indoctrinated by goons from Nation of Islam — so far as I know.

So, cops now recruit criminals.
And universities hire unrepentant terrorists as professors and give out honorary degrees to convicted cop-killers.*
Also, if a governor inquires into firing a cop who is a known wife abuser, child abuser, and lawbreaker... *she's* the one who is "abusing power."
Tell me, exactly when did I fall asleep and wake up in the Evil Mirror Universe where Spock has a goatee?.
*(I got $100 that says Mumia will be pardoned by Comrade Obama when he is president.)

I moved to Atlanta proper in 1972.
I moved to an out-lying county in 1978.
It became apparent to me, the city was becoming nothing more than a third world-like enclave of social misfits and socialist ideas.
Sure enough, it did.
The City of Atlanta is only a small portion of the metro area. The city could not sustain itself without the wealth generated in the out-lying areas. Too many monkeys in the banana tree eating the fruit and no one responsible for care of the trees.

Exactly right. Metro Atlanta is the fastest growing metropolis in the nation (or at least was until 2006), and the outer areas pay for the crime-ridden city, which is run by corrupt politicians from the top down who get most of their money from taxes on businesses, which are run by residents of the bedroom communities.
Believe me, Atlanta's police dept is extremely crooked. There's been a sort of "trickle down" effect in the local govt for a couple of decades. No one really expects them to not be corrupt. I guess it's like a cultural thing, and has a certain level of acceptance. You can't complain about it, or swing a dead cat, without being called a racist.
For laughs, read about how the Margaret Mitchell house was burned down a couple of times, about our liberal rag the "Atlanta Journal-Constitution", about how all references to "Gone with the Wind" were practically banned during the Olympics, and about how Clayton County schools (just south of Atlanta but part of the metro area) all lost accreditation due to incompetance and corruption.
Funny stuff. Can't wait to see this sort of thing implemented on a national scale.
