Another Day in the Year Journalism Died
Sean Hannity's assertion that 2008 will go down as the year journalism died receives some confirmation from Michael Graham, who takes on the Boston Globe's exploitation of the Sarah Palin rape kit canard:
The Globe-Democrat yesterday asserted as fact that "during her tenure as mayor of Wasilla, the town started charging rape victims or their insurers for rape kits."
But the truth is that there is no record of a rape victim ever being charged for a rape kit by Wasilla; there's no evidence Mayor Palin knew about the policy or took any action on it either way; and no record of a victim's insurance company being charged by the town.
How does an alleged "newspaper" make such a claim without any facts whatsoever?
The story is old news in the new media. Left-leaning Slate.com called it "a nasty and untrue rumor." National Review's Jim Geraghty, who has written exhaustively on the story calls it "unsupported by the facts." But at the Obama-Uber-Alles Boston Globe, they call it "news."
We have come to the point in the media's treatment of Gov. Sarah Palin where even the fig leaf of pretense is gone. The press has openly chosen sides and has stopped apologizing for it.
That would explain why the financially interested and overwhelmingly partisan Gwen Awful is still on to moderate tonight's VP debate.
As for the rape kits the media is trying to inflate into a scandal:
Not only is there no record that any victim or insurance company was ever invoiced by the city, but current Police Chief Angella Long found records of two rape kits being paid for by the city.
The MSM is betting the bank on Obama. If they can install him in the White House, with a heavy Democrat majority in Congress, the Fairness Doctrine and similar laws can be used to silence talk radio, conservative blogs, and other alternatives to their own discredited propaganda. But if it fails, the current media establishment will curl up and die, or subsist at a Keith Olbermann level, appealing only to unhinged fanatics — especially if voters eventually come to realize the full import of the bullet they will have dodged when the radical Left's messiah is prevented from tearing down our country.

One good thing about this, at least: the more we see of the MSM's blatant bias in favor of the Obamessiah (and what an putz the guy is!), with Gwen Awful moderating tonight's "debate" (setting up Gov. Palin for the kill), the little Obamatrons singing to Chairman Mao (er, Barack) at events staged by NBC (the National Barack Channel), the P.D.S. displayed every day on MSLSD, CNN (all DNC, all the time), and on and on, ad infinitum, the madder we "regular" Americans get and the more likely to vote millions of the same Americans will be.
McCain is imperfect, to say the least, but the alternative is Soviet-style dictatorship on a massive scale, which we will never be able to back away from, once Der Fuehrer II is installed at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue next January.
