A Referendum on America
Next week's election is more than a choice between a left-wing Democrat and a centrist Republican. It's a referendum on whether this will continue to be America, the Last Best Hope, or Change into just another country.
You don't need to be particularly conservative to see this. From the moderate Dr. Slogan's Prescriptions:
How about close relationships with people involved in international terror? Or laser sharp focus on indoctrinating children? Or a laundry list of every modern-day tyrant openly expressing support? Or persistent suppression of free speech? Or going for twenty years (and bringing children) into a church that openly promotes hate of white people, just as [it] openly supports Hamas and condemns our country on regular basis? Or campaigning for a radical with Islamic ties who threw a stable country into a bloody mess? Or close ties with people who led an organization that unapologetically bombed the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and a police station and who were on the FBI Ten Most Wanted List? Or vote fraud of monstrous proportions? Or accepting a flow of donations from unidentified foreign sources?
[…T]his election is no longer about choosing between Republicans and Democrats. It's about choosing between our democratic system as we know it and a totally different state. In that state — which Sen. Obama and people behind him have been working hard to create, free speech will be not so free. In that state, tolerance will not be so tolerant. And in that state many things you've been taking for granted will slowly but steadily cease to exist.
America as we know it could cease to exist, given the help Obama can expect from a radicalized, Dem-controlled Congress. But on the bright side, second-rate countries won't resent us anymore.

That's a bit depressing. I like to think America is big enough and strong enough to survive a two-bit hustler from the sleaze-pit of Chicago.

Ill take the one on the right. Since the country is falling apart anyway we might as well get it overwith and have another civil war. Let the extremists from both sides slug it out; KKK vs. New Black Panthers. Sort of like what the Russian captain in the Hunt for Red October said.

"It's a referendum on whether this will continue to be America, the Last Best Hope, or Change into just another country."
Fuck you if you wanna say that America is just another country because your candidate doesn't win. Seriously - if you think America, and all it stands for - is so weak, you should really get the fuck out. Talk about America hating!
I'm sure if Obama is elected you'll continue to spew your anti-American BS from the comfort of...America, i.e., "just another country". You pussy POS.

Rome, Bysantium, Egypt, the English Empire, the French Empire, the Spanish Empire, Korea, the German Republic, the USSR, ect, ect....
Do any of these names MEAN ANYTHING to you? Those places no longer exhist because they fell apart, thanks to BAD LEADERS. Do you really think Obama will improve America and make her stronger? He wants to CHANGE America to please OTHER COUNTRIES, that hardly sounds like he cares for what AMERICANS want or need.
But no one is stopping you from you from listing Obama's PLANS FOR IMPROVING AMERICA, all we get from him is PROMASES and RETORIC. Need I remind you that he is making DIFFRENT promases NOW than he did a few months ago? Could it be that people are just NOT BUYING his SOCIALIST bill of goods any more?

Classy as always, brs.

I've never seen such educated-ignorant, freedom-facism, capitalism-socialism, egalitarian-racist dichotomous choices line up so vividly in an election.
Its frightening that so many voters actually see BO as more than the race hustler he is.
Or even more frightening that this is a plus to his followers.

BRS, another ranting potty-mouth lefty.
America isn't just a piece of land. America is an ideal. Freedom. Liberty. Free Markets. The right of people like Joe the Plumber to speak out without fear of retaliation (ahem). The belief that people ought to be government by laws, not charismatic demagogues. The idea that even a political Messiah has to be bound by the law.
If you love and believe in these, you love and believe in America. If you love and believe in Obama, you love and believe something totally different.

Obama along with the leftists running Congress can do some serious and permanent damage to this country.
Has anybody else noticed that gun sales seem to be up all across the country? I think people are a little worried about their ability to buy them in the future. I don't think the Democrats will ban them, but I'd expect some additional onerous regulations and an effort to tax them out of existence. Hopefully we won't have to see, but people are buying them up now just in case.

I am sort of with VtheK in thinking our great country can outlast and withstand a two-bit political hack from Chicago. But I'm less sure about that than a month ago. Obama's thin skin and creepy bullying stuff, combined with his cultish self-righteous followers has me very, very concerned.

Once bad laws are passed, once bad judges make biased and politically based decisions, once people arrange their lives to accomodate a stupid economic reality, America can not change back without a major revolution, incredible disaster, terrible war, or about 60 years of sacrifice. Anyone who thinks Obama, Pelosi, and Reid can't hurt America in just two years so the damage lasts for several generations has not paid any attention at all to what they say.

Hey brs-
The dry cleaners called. Your brown shirts are pressed and ready and your boots have been cleaned and polished and are waiting to be picked up promptly. Your timely payment is very much appreciated.
Thanks.

L. KING: Do you — you don’t believe Barack Obama is a socialist, do you?
MCCAIN: No.

L. KING: Do you -- you don't believe Barack Obama is a socialist, do you?
MCCAIN: No. But I do believe -- I do believe that he's been in the far left of American politics. He has stated time after time that he believes in quote, "spreading the wealth around." He's talked about courts that would redistribute the wealth.
He has a record of voting against tax cuts and for tax increases. And I don't think there's any doubt that he would increase spending and he would -- and sooner or later, we would be increasing taxes.
There is no doubt in my mind that that's what his record -- 94 times he voted to cut taxes -- against tax cuts and for tax increases. He voted for -- and that's what matters, not rhetoric -- to raise taxes on individuals making $42,000 a year.

"I like to think America is big enough and strong enough to survive a two-bit hustler from the sleaze-pit of Chicago."
But we didn't just wake up one day and decide to make him our president. What I'm more worried about is an entire generation of people weened on three institutions that, ever since the 1960's, have become more and more far-left, American-hating, and socialist-oriented.
These are the mainstream media, the entertainment industry, and the education system. These are the ones who put this two-bit hustler where he is. They picked him because he could be counted on to vote the farthest left on any and every position, plus he gives a good speech.
They are the ones who put him where he is. Without their aid, the average person would have known all about his past and his policies, and long since rejected him.
We've got bigger problems that this clown.

Thulsa, that anon poster must be an editor for NBC.
