The Art of Layout

Lately the MSM's anti-Saracuda propaganda has been anything but subtle, so maybe this was an accident:

Ha! Looks like the media is running scared, real scared.

Let 'em keep trying....

It's like one of my asshole art professors in college said, "Every stroke an adept artist makes is carefully considered-- there are no happy accidents-- there is only applied creativity to convey the message you have to share."

I hated that guy. But I think what he says works here. No happy accidents here.

most interesting to me is that the level of manipulatoin of the press and people is for once clearly on display to the point that many in the public, are starting to realize which side has been playing them.

Posted by: Artfldgr at September 4, 2008 4:04 PM

It wasn't an accident... TorStar is famous for that sort of crap...

Posted by: Richard Evans at September 4, 2008 4:04 PM

The left will never see the bias. This will, however, fully energize the center and the right to get out and vote.

Expect FOX news (FNC) viewership to dominate even more over the others in the coming months.

What is great, is, last night, Channel 5 (Oakland, CA) anchor and weather dudes were OPENLY supportive of Palin on the air at the end of the broadcast. (That is unheard of in Norther CA!).

Melanie Morgan was fired from KSFO (arranged personally by San Fran Nan PolPotLucy) over her conserative views.

Expect a lot of local media types, who are tired of being hammered by their 'liberal party line' management, to back lash, IMHO.

Posted by: Oiao at September 4, 2008 4:36 PM

Oiao - I thought Melanie was still on KSFO - wasn't it KGO she was canned from? You know - KGO - Bernie Ward the pedophile's station...

(I've been gone for 3 years now from the Bay Area - haven't heard any good gossip for a while...)

Posted by: Jimbo at September 4, 2008 5:01 PM

Jimbo - you correct me. I was typing faster than I think.

I've met Melanie several times, with the last being at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital.

Melanie walks the walk. She has been at a lot (a lot) of events to support the troops and expouse a conserative view. Very good off the cuff public speaker.

Thank for correcting me.

Posted by: Oiao at September 4, 2008 5:19 PM

Just generally on Palin... Right now, the smell of fear from the left is overwhelming. I think they know full well that she's tipped the election away from Obama. We may well be looking at the US's first woman president.

Posted by: Ian from the EUSSR at September 4, 2008 7:53 PM

Sarah Palin is one of the most photogenic politicians who has ever run for office, anywhere. One has to work very hard to find a bad picture of her. The liberal press is working very hard.

Posted by: avalon at September 4, 2008 8:00 PM

An insult from Canada is praise indeed. Let 'em take their best shot. At the end of the day, they're still Canadians, eh.

Posted by: matt at September 4, 2008 8:16 PM

Oiao and Jimbo,

I live here, too. Morgan was fired from the KSFO show known as "Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan" shortly after this incident in Berkeley. (I cannot believe a station like KGO has ever hired her.)

http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2008/02/medea_benjamin_1.html
(click on the Zombie report)

I have never known why she got fired, but I was listening to her live broadcast at about 6am on that day when the pro USA folks were accosted before dawn across the street from the Berkeley City Hall.

I like Melanie too, but my feeling is that there was something in the way she reported that particular incident that got her fired. Almost positive. She was fired within a few weeks, if not days, of this.

Posted by: mike h at September 4, 2008 8:23 PM

I think that it is pretty effin' obvious what that is. Just like right now. The local public broadcasting channel (taxpayer supported) just had to interrupt the very end of McCain's acceptance speech with a few commercials. They couldn't wait another 4 or 5 minutes until it was over. Insulting and disrespectful are just two words that come to mind. I couldn't believe it but I just saw it happen. Unbelievable. Just what the heck is a "public corporation" anyhow?

Posted by: Vince at September 4, 2008 8:24 PM

I haven't heard any news about debates. Are there any scheduled? IMO a Biden/Palin debate...you do the math.

Posted by: baldeagle390 at September 4, 2008 8:25 PM

also a great satire piece at BlameBush!:

"But the folks over at Daily Kos and the Democratic Underground have it on good authority that Sarah Palin does indeed have Cooties, and that her daughter is a slut (and not even the good kind of slut - she's keeping her baby)."

Posted by: baldeagle390 at September 4, 2008 8:34 PM

And we care about what the Canadians think because?...It gives us lolz of course.

I know this should be in the open thread, but it's real funny and I won't be here tomorrow.
he clowns at MB: MoveOn.org gives us a few points on why we should vote for Palin as VP:

"# She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage.1
# Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
# She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3
# Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
# She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5
# She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as a threatened species-she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.6 "

Then they add this on:
"This is information the American people need to see. Please take a moment to forward this email to your friends and family."
Don't worry, I will. They go on to add fuel to the fire:
"So Governor Palin is a staunch anti-choice religious conservative."

OH CRAP! Just posted 5 minutes ago. "CBS POLL: McCain, Obama Tied.

McCain makes up 8 pts.

Why are you libs sitting around smoking pot? Cash your welfare check and start buying votes. The Milwaukee Democratic party has been doing their part. How about you?

Posted by: baldeagle390 at September 4, 2008 8:53 PM

Check this crap out...

Got an email from a very liberal friend today who learned I was happy with Palin. Let us peer into the mind of a young liberal:

"UGH You're on the Sarah Palin bandwagon too?
Don't get me wrong, she's charming, her speech last night was perfect and great and I even enjoyed her little jabs at Obama and got a pretty good laugh out of them.
Her joke about the difference between hockey moms and pitbulls being lipstick was just as entertaining as any episode of Sex and the City I've seen to date.
BUT
What do you think about the fact that her anti-abortion stance is so staunch that she is against abortion in the case of rape and in the case of it harming/killing the mother? That doesn't scare you at all? Don't you think women should have a right to choose something like that? Also, she gave a speech two days after giving birth to a special needs child. This makes me fear that American women's maternity leave rights will be endanger. She also does not agree with birth control of ANY kind. Some people can't afford to have a kid every time they have sex! I'm not trying to put down your view or start a debate, I just seriously want to know if your opinion and I want people to know how scary that is to all of us women."

Seemed pretty condescending to me. Thoughts? I'm VERY interested in your take on this.

Posted by: Thulsa Doom at September 4, 2008 9:03 PM

The anti-birth control thing seems to be entirely invented Leftie FUD.

Posted by: Ian from the EUSSR at September 4, 2008 10:44 PM

Thulsa: Well, if it were me answering your letter:

On Palin's abortion stance - I don't happen to agree that a mother whose life is endangered by the pregnancy can not choose to abort the baby to save herself. This is the only abortion I could in good conscience allow, and even that with a twinge of regret. Sarah Palin feels more strongly about this topic, and that's fine. The Supreme Court has been very reluctant to overturn Roe v. Wade despite several chances to do so; I doubt Sarah Palin as VP will make any difference in that regard.

On maternity leave - Sarah Palin's giving a speech two days after giving birth has no bearing on a woman's right to maternity leave. She had the right to stay in the hospital or at home and recover, and no one would have said a word about it. She chose to go ahead and make her planned appearance. The left likes choice, so you should understand this. This does not mean she would hold anyone else to this choice, nor can she without legislation to change the labor laws.

On birth control - Christian doctrine states that any artificial means of preventing conception is a sin. Period. I also don't happen to agree with this stance, but I understand why she feels this way. Personally, I believe that using birth control when you don't want or can't handle a resulting child is the responsible thing to do, as opposed to an abortion or neglecting the child after it is born. Of course, there is always adoption...

In the end, remember that the VP has no powers of his/her own. At best she could make suggestions to the President and/or Congress, but her wishing that abortion and birth control were illegal will not make it so. I don't happen to agree with her on some issues, but I respect her approach, character, grit, and accomplishments. In my opinion, she would make a fine Vice President, and she was an inspired choice.

If "all of [you] women" want something to be scared of, go ahead and turn health care over to a bunch of Washington bureaucrats, and let them decide when you can see a doctor, and what treatments they'll allow you to have, and how much they will spend on you before cutting you off. Sarah Palin may stand for things you don't like or would find inconvenient, but by herself (or even with McCain) she would have a tough time radically changing anything you mentioned. I'll leave it up to you whether that circumstance is a good thing or not.

Thulsa: Most of what the left wants comes down to convenience. Babies get in the way of leisure time and careers. Their answer is birth control and abortions (though as I said, I have no problem with birth control). Capitalism and freedom get in the way of central planning (as in, "It would be much more convenient if everyone just rode mass transit instead of driving"). Their answer is socialism or communism, where your only choice is what the Party decides you can pick from. It is ironic that the so-called "progressives" who want "choice" continue to back decisions that will remove choice from the average person. The average lefty doesn't see the bigger problems, though. They are too focused on their own little problems.

Kind of unrelated but I thought it was worth a look.

The dumbest argument yet for why you should vote for Obama

Posted by: Ben_Huh at September 5, 2008 12:30 AM

To Americans who may not know it, you must also note that in Canada, the nickname for the Toronto Star is the "Red Star" for its unabashed left-liberalism.

Posted by: CMP at September 5, 2008 1:01 AM

This is definitely the most one-sided election that I have ever witnessed. I feel sick after reading anything in print, on Television, and hearing office conversation.

Thank God for my sane friends here at Moonbattery!
It's good to hear voices with intelligent and fact-based opinions, not just knee-jerk reactions to argument. I shudder to think of what the future of this country could turn into.

Posted by: Murff at September 5, 2008 3:42 AM

If Palin was running with Obama she would be shown smiling, looking towards the heavens, with a halo of light around her head.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 5, 2008 5:15 AM

Yeah, Coder, I pretty much went through all these things in my mind when I read the email... then I sent my standard response to liberal friends, "I make it a habit not to discuss politics with friends." which is kind of a half-truth; I'll yack all day long with my conservative friends... it just makes no sense to try and talk politics with liberal friends. They're always right, you know-- Obama's devine will blesses everything they say.

Posted by: Thulsa Doom at September 5, 2008 6:10 AM

Oh... and by the way... Palin is NOT opposed to contraception or termination of a pregnancy in the case of a threat to the mother's life.

http://www.ontheissues.org/Sarah_Palin.htm

"Rejected sympathy for Down's Syndrome son, as gift from God. (Aug 2008)
Opposes stem cell research. (Aug 2008)
Every baby is created with a future and potential. (Aug 2008)
Pro-life. (Nov 2006)
Choose life, even if her own daughter were raped. (Nov 2006)
Pro-contraception, pro-woman, pro-life. (Aug 2006)
Only exception for abortion is if mother's life would end. (Jul 2006)"

So that kinda answers a bunch of questions about the legitimacy of claims about Palin. This is just another set of "truths" about Palin that the Left has cooked up to smear her.

Posted by: Thulsa Doom at September 5, 2008 6:25 AM

I'd like to see the MSM put a little more coverage on Obama's most famous spokesperson. The sheer elegance of the spew given by Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Pee Douchey, or whatever the hell he calls himself, was just amazing. Of course, i haven't destroyed my brain with nearly enough drugs to understand every word he said but it was brilliant. The line I did get was "They ain't no crack heads in Alassa". Um, does that mean Alassa's governor is doing a good job or a bad job?

Posted by: Zen at September 5, 2008 7:01 AM

"She also does not agree with birth control of ANY kind. Some people can't afford to have a kid every time they have sex!"

Thulsa, tell your friend that if she fears pregnancy then she should just swallow.

Posted by: Tom at September 5, 2008 7:09 AM

Thulsa, I think the more condescending the attacks against Palin are, the better. "Small town", redneck, working class , whatever you want to call them, voters see these attacks as personal attacks against their way of life. The left still does not understand the culture war. They do not realize that most of the people they sneer down their noses at as dumb hicks have college degrees and jobs and families and do not like being thought of as stupid hicks.

I say bring on the negative of attacks of Palin as "white trash." There is a rising tide of redneck pride in this country that the left fans and increases by castigating these people as stupid inbred hicks.

"4-She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.

5-She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. the climate change thing makes me laugh so hard I feel like I might piss myself. I'm waiting to see how long it will take these douchewaffles to wake up to the fact that that's all bullshit. Once again, they count on us being so damn stupid that we would actually believe that the Earth's climate has never varied except in the last 14 years. The other thing they don't seem to realize is that wanting to save the environment is fine, but when people are strugglinging financially they're not looking for feel-good salves, they want to pay their bills and feed their families.

If nothing else, these 2 things right here would be enough to make me love this woman. BTW, the polar bear population has more then TRIPLED in the last 30 years, from 800 to slightly over 2700. Look it up.

Posted by: NoObamunist at September 5, 2008 10:22 AM

Just a thought on that comment about "if you want something to be scared about, try turning your health care over to a Washington bureaucrat". That's exactly right...the same kind of bureaucrats that pulled the plug on Terri Schiavo, even when her family was willing and able to pay and care for her.

I will never let that go. Even if that woman was a total, irreversible vegetable, if she had blood relatives willing to care for her, how DARE they let her "husband" kill her? Government health care at its best.
