Patriotism as a Dress Code Violation

It looks like educrats haven't yet managed to stamp out the last embers of patriotism in the next generation. From Dos Palos, California:

Students at Dos Palos High School protested Thursday — by wearing patriotic regalia to school — after a sophomore student was forced to remove a T-shirt depicting the American flag.
Officials at the Merced County school confirmed Thursday that Jake Shelly was forced to take off a red, white and blue tie-dyed American flag T-shirt on Tuesday. The shirt said nothing offensive, just: "United States of America, Washington, D.C."
The school's assistant principal issued Shelly a bright yellow T-shirt that read "DCV: Dress Code Violator" to wear for the rest of the day. He was given his shirt back after classes ended.

At least they didn't force him to wear a Che Guevara shirt for the rest of the day.

It isn't just patriotic shirts educrats want banned. They also don't like it when students express incorrect thoughts to the media:

Kaycee Shelly told members of the media at lunchtime that her brother was overwhelmed and did not want to do any more interviews.
Earlier in the day, he was speaking with a local news station when an unidentified teacher walked up to him, ripped off the microphone clipped to his shirt and told him he was not allowed to talk to the media.

Jake wore the shirt "as part of a hippie dress-up day." If the shirt had featured a marijuana leaf instead of an American flag, no doubt teachers would have smiled on it benevolently.

Three cheers for the student body! (read the article)

At least the kids get it, and that's saying a lot these days.

Merced, the county seat, is my home town. My best friend's mom still lives in Firebaugh, about 15 miles from Dos Palos. The San Joaquin Valley of California is the *conservative* part of the state. Keee-rist, what does that mean SF has turned into since I moved away a decade ago?

I'll see if mom #2 has any inside local gossip about this.

If he had on a Che Tee the teachers probably would've given him some of their weed.

The problem is that the dem party is owned by the N.E.A. The teacher's unions know who will butter their bread and who will make them actually have to be good teachers.

Here in Pa., the teacher's unions regularly extort the taxpayers and live a fairy tale life. they work 180 days per year. great pension, health bennies for life that they do not contribute a penny for (just like the rest of Americans, right?). What a sick demented joke!!!!

from the article:

"The assistant principal initially thought Shelly's T-shirt violated a clause of the school dress code that does not allow "shirts/blouses that promote specific races, cultures, or ethnicities."

How could you possibly think that the American flag promotes a specific race, culture or ethnicity? Personally,

First BUST THE TEACHERS UNIONS! One of the most thug-like and dangerous left wing organizations in the country.

Second, sue the hell out of that teacher that ripped off the mic. (Where is the ACLU protecting that kid's free speech? OH! That's right. They only worry about free RADICAL LEFTIST speech.)

The teacher that ripped the mic off the kid should be arrested for assault on a minor. Sauce for the goose...

I have stopped asking myself long ago "what next?". How long before it's a crime to fly Old Glory on school campus because it might offend someone ?!?!

Hey, I actually like the yellow t-shirt "DCV" emblem idea. I mean, at least the administration of this wonderful school didn't (and I'm sure they would have loved to!) tattoo, say, a yellow Star of David on the kid's chest with "Dress Code Violator" inside it, along with a dark blue ink set of numbers on his inside, right forearm . . .

Heil, NEA! Bow down or be transported to a Dhimmicrat "re-education" camp! Or, possibly, if your violation should be egregious enough, be "disappeared."

Yet another example of what we all have to look forward to under the fascist "PC" reign of Barack Milhous No-Obama.

"If the shirt had featured a marijuana leaf instead of an American flag, no doubt teachers would have smiled on it benevolently."

I SAY EXPELL THOSE SCHOOL OFFICIALS PUT THEM IN DETENTION FOR THE REST OF THE SCHOOL YEAR GROUND THEM BAN THEM FROM ALL THE GAMES. I suppose if ha had warn a mexican flag T-Shirt the school butt buckers would have welcomed him with open arms AND MAKE THEM ALL WEAR PINK TUTUS WHEN THEY COME TO SCHOOL

When they start firing those left wing nuts things will change but before that the NEA and Dept of Ed will have to go.

Kudos to the student board for showing the school officials are a bunch of stupid brainless jackasses

Conservos are crazy. Back in the day, when yippies wore flag apparel, you wanted them executed. Now, it's some sort of free speech thing. In fact, both examples defame our flag--read up on flag honors.

ZEKE-

If you'd take the time to look at the picture, that is not a shirt made out of a flag. It's a cotton T-shirt with a red white and blue color scheme which in no way defames the flag.

Posted by: Vermin at September 24, 2008 6:54 PM

zeke,

What on earth are you talking about? It's not a real flag, man, it's a tie-died shirt.

Did you not know that? Or were you just yanking our chain, pretending to be a leftie and unable to read much?

Just wondering...
