Oprah on Her Refusal to Host Sarah Palin

Oprah Winfrey, who exerts a disturbing influence over people who spend their days vegetating in front of the television, has straightened out the story on her refusal to have Sarah Palin on her show:

Oprah's statement:

The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.

After the campaign is over, Vice President Palin will be a little busy. But it's nice to know the Obama-hyping Oprah has too much integrity to allow her show to be corrupted by crass politics. She also blocked an appearance by Clarence Thomas.

You see it is that nuance thing where it is one thing to have the presumptive appointee on but once they elevate to post-convention candidacy then she can take the high road which is another thing entirely. Would love it if Palin would come out and make a statement that it is not an issue since she would not go on her show anyway. Doesn't have time for soap operas. Kind of busy.

Ouch - use the link in the above text and see what Oprah's own site members are saying about her.

Yep, the backlash is coming. Especially from women.

The MSM and zerObomatrons like Oprah are going to feel the people, led by women, take away the 4th estate's power to influence.

MSM and Oprah = less credibility than their candidate zerObama.

Posted by: Oiao at September 5, 2008 12:38 PM

I remember hearing Michael Savage say months ago that the real revolution in this country will be lead by women. As a conservative, Palin-loving woman myself, I can tell you that I am completely fired up about supporting McCain and Palin while simultaneously shunning all of these phony feminists like Oprah who only care about towing their party's line.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 5, 2008 12:47 PM

Doesn't Michael Savage hate Sarah Palin? I caught a few minutes of his show on the way back from a church thing last night, and he sounded like an MSNBC host(which I think he once was).

Posted by: V the K at September 5, 2008 12:52 PM

Who gives a shit what Michael Savage says? He's nuts anyway.

LOL, Oprah is no doubt jealous of Sarah's good HAIR!!!

Posted by: Gimmie A Head With Hair at September 5, 2008 1:22 PM

Double Ouch - Hot Air just published the direct link to the Oprama web site.

They are getting mucho 'women love' right now, LOL.

There is a 'new' tread blaming the tons of traffic on McCain/Palin supporter, not Oprama's base audience, which I think is incorrect, because they could just shut down registration to the site. Many of these NEGATIVE comments are from long time Oprama viewers/customers. Sounds like some of them just quit Oprama's sphere of influence.

The web pages for zerObama on Oprama's website are not responding.

I think Oprama just went internet viral in a very bad way for Oprama's future cash flow.

Posted by: Oiao at September 5, 2008 1:29 PM

The comments for Oprah are brutal! Looks like the conservatives took off the gloves and put on some rings.
And that's a good thing, we've been too nice and forgiving for too long.

Posted by: KHarn at September 5, 2008 1:35 PM

I hope Sarah tells Oprah to "Get Stuffed" after she and McCain wins.

Posted by: Glen at September 5, 2008 1:37 PM

This is what gets me. With Hussein Obama, he gave up 18,000,000 votes for an old hockey puck bag, a three year old mule "Michelle" and ... Joe Biden. Oprah would give up millions of potential viewers not to mention sponsor money because she loves her little Hussein. These bafoons would rather sabotage success than give a conservative equal time. The next time libs cry for the Fairness Doctrine we conservatives should cite these blantent examples of bias and shove it down their throats.

Posted by: Moonbat Inspector General at September 5, 2008 2:07 PM

Yup, he does hate Sarah Palin, which is why I stopped listening to him. I think his earlier remarks on women leading the cause were spot on though.

Posted by: Anonymous at September 5, 2008 2:12 PM

So can someone explain to me how Oprah starts out calling the Obamessiah "the next President of the United States" and now says she doesn't want her show to be politicized by having Palin on?

Come up with a better excuse, for the love of God!

MoonBat IG - after this election cycle and the backlash against the MSM, Nancy PolPotLucy and Babs Boxer will go for the Fairness Doctrine straight out of the gate.

The internet and talk radio are the targets, because they can not count on the MSM's control in those areas.

I also think they will want to 'bail out' very liberal newspapers who are going under, so that they can still paper the masses with propaganda.

If Oprama get's hit hard enough, early in the backlash, others on the left will think twice on makeing the same idiotic mistake in the market place.

People vote with their feet and wallets/purses too.

Posted by: Oiao at September 5, 2008 2:49 PM

Two points: first, Oprah would be better served just saying "I'm for Obama and don't want to help the opposition get any exposure." It would piss off a few, but at least it would be honest. I wouldn't even hold it against her. She's for Obama, thats it. But of course, that wouldn't be INCLUSIVE, so she looks like an idiot "nuancing" her position.

Second: could you guys slow down with the "funny" names (i.e. Oprama, PolPotLucy, etc.) I get the point, but it's making the posts almost unreadable!

Posted by: matt at September 5, 2008 3:00 PM

Even Oprah has succumbed to LRM (liberal repressive mania). The symptoms may show immediatley or lay dormant for years but eventually the leftwing sufferers of LRM will deny basic freedoms to others. They may deny facts and circumstances, they also tend to become arogant and display Tourretts Syndrome characteristics by shouting things like, "Shut up!, You're too stupid to talk to"! etc. Some may even create a list of the worst people in the (their) world.

Posted by: XBOLTS at September 5, 2008 3:05 PM

Just in case anyone has a hard time finding the Oprah Blog and comments.

It is quite entertaining. As for Oprah's potential loss of business, I find it highly amusing.

"after this election cycle and the backlash against the MSM, Nancy PolPotLucy and Babs Boxer will go for the Fairness Doctrine straight out of the gate."

I so agree with that. This must be stopped. You know, energy , the economy and the war in Iraq will be the main talking points for this election; however, this outright abuse of free speech called the Fairness Doctrine, has to be considered before "on the fence" Americans cast their vote. I wonder if McCain/Palin will address this in any of their upcoming speeches?

Posted by: Moonbat Inspector General at September 5, 2008 5:08 PM

Opr-uh must have made her decision not to use her show as a platform for any of the candidates after the Obamas were on.

Posted by: single stack at September 5, 2008 5:32 PM

I can see the "Fairness" (now that's a laugh) Doctrine getting through for broadcast radio if Nine-Percent Nancy Pelosi and her ilk maintain a hold on Congress and The Obamanation is prez. But how could they possibly stop the internet? Communist China-style tactics of blocking certain domains? That'd never fly with the American public. There's just no way to cloak it with enough smoke and mirrors to dupe even the stupid. We'd all be hosted on off-shore servers in free countries like India and Haiti, who'd be (and in some cases actually are) dying for our money. What about satellite radio? I can see a REAL "Radio Free America" popping into existence, both on satellite and 'pirate' stations if the FD ever comes to pass.

Posted by: hiram13pm at September 5, 2008 5:37 PM

Hiram13pm -

They will go after the hosting services and the network providers (cut the host and artery) by passing 'Fairness Doctrine' laws that allow 'Fairness Commissions' to levy threats, fines and recommend closure.

The basic plan is to set up commissions (waste a lot of your tax dollars paying left leaning people to cruze the internet = mostly right leaning sites and blogs) who will be able to use vague standards to stop anyone they do not agree with.

They will also make sure that people like you and I practicing free speech have our IPs blocked by the service provider. They will controll any content they do not want at both ends of the equasion = the person providing content/opinion/free speech (that they do not agree with) and also the content provider/distributer.

This will be the final nail in the print liberal print media's death spiral, except, I think they will provide tax dollars to keep the ones that they like alive (WaPoo, NYT, LA Times....)

This site, MM, Hot Air, FOX and thousands of others will be the first to go.

Google will be supporting this. Google is run by very rich socialists (wealth guilty boys raised by liberal parents). Why do you think Google is now getting into the browser market and rolling out a Google Browser soon?

I may have oversimplified but the basic tools are already in place to drop the hammer on the internet. All they need now is to pass some vague and open ended legislation that will allow the 'Liberal Thought Police' to attack and control content.

Posted by: Oiao at September 5, 2008 6:17 PM

Oiao...

I see your point here... but I still think there's no way they could keep a lid on that kind of shit and/or "spin" it in a way that would be palatable to the majority of Americans. Or even 'ignorable' to the public. It would screw up too many people's ability to access porn, lol. Remember, us out here in "flyover" country actually are the Majority of citizens, and unlike the libshits on the "Left Coast" and the "Other Left Coast", we're ARMED. If crap like this got passed, the bastards who did it would be out on their asses just as soon as we could un-elect them (kinda like Carter). If they refused to leave office, well... I've got a BOB and lots of ammo.

Hey, tell VH to give you my email... I've read some of your past posts, and you're a man after my own heart! Luv to talk boom-sticks with ya.

And BTW, I believe in the Boy Scout Motto... "Be Prepared". Tho' I don't think the nightmare scenario you're describing could ever come to pass, I'm still stocking up.

"We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about," Obama said. "I don't believe in coming in second."

A better blogger than I responds:

Don't worry, Princess. You'll be coming in third, Joe Biden in fourth.
He said this while attending a fundraiser hosted by long-haired ex-prettyboy Bon Jovi, incidentally. Then they went out shopping for "outfits."
He's smeared her in the most vile ways through his surrogates, and claimed she was a fluffybrained muffinheaded chillbilly bumpkin beauty queen from "Wasilly" Alaska, and now he's up there resolutely swearing he won't let a 110 pound woman "bully" him?
What are you afraid she's going to do to you, Stacy? Adorable you to death?
The endless caterauling and whiiiining and poor-me-ing. Oh Mommy MSM, please save me from the bad lady.

Ditto. Particularly considering just how vicious and low-brow those attacks are. Completely reactionary. They're grasping at straws, they realize they've fallen through the thin-ice of their bullshit rhetoric and are now clawing, desperatly, at the edges of the pond of politics while they feel their strength quickly ebbing in the cold, cold waters of truth.

It's like the last, frantic gasps of a drowning man. But it's funny.

Gina -
Good post.

I was in a long drawn-out meeting today (a bunch of engineers and architects duking it out about stuff that would bring you good folks to tears...) we reached a particular stalemate, and I said "Listen., Folks... What would Sarah Palin do?"

For 30 seconds you could have heard a pin drop.

After that - wide spread laughter/relief and we got things figured out.

Weird but true. It was a joke, and taken as such - but everyone had a different frame of mind afterward: "This HAS to be done, let's do it."

firmbelief wrote:
Oprah, you are such a hypocrite!!! "I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates." You had Obama and his wife on your show and you appeared with Obama on his campaign trail more than once, if I recall correctly! (Sorry, I don't pay much attention to you any more!) You even held a fundraiser for him in your 50 million dollar mansion in Montecito, CA. Are you afraid to state your true reasons for not wanting Sarah Palin on your show? Could it be because.... she's a woman? she's white? she's a Christian who hasn't attended Rev Wrights hate filled "church"? She's a VP nominee at 44? Palin doesn't need your show, Oprah. She's doing just fine without your "approval".

I stopped watching your show some time ago. You have changed so drastically from when the Oprah show first started. You spout your New Age beliefs and turn off a large segment of your audience. You reject Sarah Palin and turn off another large segment of your audience. You support and raise money for Obama and turn off another segment of your audience. Keep making these really stupid decisions and you won't have any audience, Oprah.

I'm sure you will hear from Mrs. Palin, Oprah. It will look something like this: "Dear Oprah, The Vice President’s office will get back to you later this year if she has an opening in her busy schedule."

By the way, Oprah....having your pic on EVERY issue of your "O" rag is tacky and shows an incredibly over-inflated ego!

Palin is a Theocrat and religious nut.

She is a radical right wing office manager. Completely unqualified to be VP let alone President.

I think my secretary wants to run for Gov. now.

Palin went to 5 colleges in 6 years. One was a community college. Come on folks - is this the best the US can do?

Posted by: Anonymous at September 6, 2008 8:59 AM

Posted by: forest at September 6, 2008 9:39 AM

Seems to me Palin has accomplished more with her "cow college" education the the Obamassiah has accomplished with his Ivy League one.

And why are Democrats pushing for a huge tax increase to fund "college for everyone" if they regard college educations (outside the Ivy League) as worhless?

Posted by: Oiao at September 6, 2008 4:46 PM

Sarah going on Oprah would end up like Tom Selleck on 'Rosie'.

Sarah is too smart to even consider appearing on daytime TV. (At least I would like to think that, unlike The Obamanation she's above that crap.) All daytime TV that I've ever seen is dumbed down for the welfare crowd. I was temporarily disabled after a heart attack some years back - everything on TV between the hours of 8am and 6pm was a direct assault on the intelligence of a normal person.

In my book, Oprah is no better than Springer or Jerry Rivers.

Posted by: Jimbo at September 6, 2008 4:51 PM

Being that Oprah is an animal rights activist, maybe she does not want to have someone on her show who supports hunting wolves from helicopters and planes, and paying $150.00 per wolf forelimb. Or maybe it is because she doesn't support the killing of black bears just for sport, in the same inhumane way. Palin supports all these types of 'sporting events' and has for a long time. My own dilemma is that I don't support either of the candidates running for Presidency because of their past history and present beliefs. There is no one for me to vote for that stands a chance in winning. Same old democratic republican stuff and we expect change? Huh? Same old bashing of people who have created more positive changes in the world then either Obama or McCain, and that is Oprah, like it or not. Everyone makes mistakes, good and bad. If you want to bash her that is fine by me. But I see that more bashing is needed to be done to our system of government. If you want to change Oprah and make her realize that you don't like her anymore, you have done a great job. Let's turn that energy bashing into showing the candidates that we want what they promise, and they better do their job once elected. If not, we need to focus our attention on bashing them until they do. As for Palin, I hope her lack of humane treatment to animals isn't a sign of how she may treat others. And as for Obama, he supported Partical Birth Abortion, a frightening fact about his conscious.
So far, I like Oprah best.

Posted by: Sharon Gottleib at September 6, 2008 8:00 PM

Gottleib,

May I suggest that you 'write in' Oprah for president on your voting form? That will solve your 3 way problem.

Other than that, Oprah has created her own problems on this issue. The fact 10s of thousands, if not 100s of thousands, of women will no longer choose to send $$ to her business ventures or charities is of her own decision.

I respect you right to your opinion - please vote Oprah for President in November.
