Well V the K is right so far about Obama coming up higher. We're at 2.6 now on RCP:

Somebody here posted a fascinating analysis of the skewing of high-quality polls like Gallup even though they intend otherwise. Drummond applies the skew factor of previous elections and McCain comes out 5 pts ahead:

Venezuala and Russia practice navy exercises together:

Russia has also sent to bombers to Venezuala to carry out "training" flights

Yep, new and old enemies of the US work together. Why? I can hazard a guess.

50 RICHEST MEMBERS OF CONGRESS: D–23, R–27 A VIRTUAL DEAD HEAT
Republicans beat out Democrats, 27-23, in the race for deepest pockets in Congress: http://www.rollcall.com/features/Guide-to-Congress_2008/guide/28506-1.html?type=printer_friendly
I guess that proves the former are the party of the rich and the latter are the party of the poor and downtrodden.
And, maybe not.
Three of the top five are Dems, including Numero Uno, Senator John Kerry at the top of the heap who is worth almost a quarter billion dollars. Other notables include Uncle Teddy (D) with $48,000,000, McCain (R) $20 million, Pelosi (D) $19 million, Hillary (D) $10 million, and bringing up the rear, Emanuel (D) $5 million.
Careful, though! Be sure to read the fine print of that tally from RollCall.com. For example, Hillary probably has $50 million +, Teddy $120 million, and if Teresa Kerry is into sharing, John is worth upwards of a billion.
As RollCall says from the outset, “Everything that you are about to read might be wrong,” since the financial disclosure system is full of loopholes, accountants, lawyers, and was set up by, of all groups, Congress itself.
It’s a safe bet that, for most, the numbers were low-balled.
An even safer bet is that the business of America is being conducted by a new aristocracy.
(For a radical eye view of what this could mean for our country, see this essay by Paul Siegel: http://www.geocities.com/youth4sa/rich.html. I’m not endorsing Siegel or his point of view but that essay illustrates the inherent dangers in a plutocracy. Likewise, this excerpt of a speech by Ramsay Clark, http://afgen.com/ramsey_clark.html.)

Hope, Change, & Lies: Orchestrated "Grassroots" Smear Campaigns & the People that Run Them
An excerpt:
"Our research suggests that a subdivision of one of the largest public relations firms in the world most likely started and promulgated rumors about Sarah Palin that were known to be false. These rumors were spread in a surreptitious manner to avoid exposure.
It is also likely that the PR firm was paid by outside sources to run the smear campaign. While not conclusive, evidence suggests a link to the Barack Obama campaign..."

Pundits betting on a nag to help the Donkeys win the race
An argument is developing that Barack Obama should do the unthinkable and dump his running-mate, Senator Joe Biden, before it’s too late. Billed as the Democrats’ attack dog when Obama picked him four weeks ago, Biden has done little to live up to his promise. On one occasion, he even admitted that Hillary Clinton might have been a better choice. "She’s easily qualified to be vice president," he told a rally in New Hampshire on September 10, "and quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me."
Glenn Reynolds, the notorious conservative blogger who writes for Instapundit, even speculates on how the Democrats might do it. He suggests that Biden will step down "due to health reasons" after the first presidential debate between John McCain and Obama this Friday and "Hillary is going to take his place". Reynolds also points out that Intrade, the world’s leading prediction market, has seen a jump in the number of people predicting Joseph Biden will be withdrawn from the Democratic ticket.
Citizen news network BloggerNewsNet has also heard the rumours. A writer from the website visited three Obama campaign offices and discovered that there was "almost no Obama-Biden merchandise available". A visit to the Barack Obama official merchandise website meanwhile reveals that "there are over 100 T-shirts for sale on the site - only one of them mentions ‘Obama-Biden’."
"What might prompt such an act of desperation?" asks Kelly. "The polls". He goes on to explain that "due to hidden racism from voters" Obama’s poll results should always be taken to be four to six points lower than they appear. As a result Obama’s chances suddenly look less good.

...to a 2002 interview with vice-chairman of Fannie Mae, Jaime Gorelick, explaining why there is no need for a Republican investigation of her company.
In the wake of the Enron disaster, Federal National Mortgage Assn. (Fannie Mae) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. (Freddie Mac), the federally chartered mortgage banks that experienced explosive growth in 2001, have come under increased scrutiny. Once again, Republicans in Congress are threatening to conduct an investigation into the activities of the two -- No. 7 and No. 2, respectively, on this year's BusinessWeek 50 list of top performers -- some say in hopes of revoking the portions of the Fannie and Freddie charters that gives an implicit government guarantee to their borrowing.

Summary of how Dems are to blame for housing loan crisis
Five years ago, Republicans proposed "the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry [in a decade]." (Source: New York Times)
Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee blocked efforts at fixing Fannie and Freddie. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) said, "Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac... are not facing any kind of financial crisis,"
At least 18 times since 2001 Democrats blocked efforts at overhauling Fannie and Freddie even as accounting scandals and executive ripoffs became public.
Why? For starters, the top two recipients of Fannie and Freddie campaign donations were Democrat fatcats Chris Dodd ($165K) and Barack Obama ($126K) (Source: Open Secrets)
And Fannie Mae paid well. Clinton-era Democrats, serving as the CEO, CFO and Vice Chairman, paid themselves $200 million in only six years even while a $10 billion accounting scandal was exposed. (Source: Wall Street Journal)
And Democrats like Chris Dodd also got favorable loans under a "VIP program." Dodd alone saved over $75,000 on his mortgage payments. (Source: Conde Nast Portfolio)
So where are former Fannie Mae CEOs like Franklin Raines ($90 million in salary) and Jim Johnson ($21 million in salary in one year)? As you might expect, they're serving as Barack Obama's key economic advisers. (Source: Washington Post)
Hiring Fannie Mae's two former CEOs as economic advisers? Barack Obama: not ready to lead.

Almost synonymous: Anti-Iran Rally Turns Into Anti-Obama Rally
Jewish Groups Furious That Protest Against Ahmadinejad Was, At Times, A Pro-Palin, Bash-The-Dems Affair
NEW YORK (CBS) ― Politics and diplomacy were not a good mix at Monday's protest rally against Iran at the United Nations.
Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin didn't participate in the "Stop Iran Now" rally and there were a lot of hard feelings about it.
It was a simple sign that read "We Want Sarah. Shame On The Rally Organizer."
Howard Webber from Brooklyn held it.
"As important an event as this is, you needed a unity of Democrats and Republicans to show Ahmadinejad that we're not going to accept a nuclear Iran."
Buddy Macy of Little Fells, N.J., felt much the same way.
"I'm so disappointed, upset," Macy said. "She would have brought 10,000-20,000 more supporters of Israel. People who were curious were stopped because of partisan action."
The brouhaha started after Clinton pulled out after she learned Palin was invited. Three organizations supporting the rally threatened to pull out unless Palin was disinvited. She was but organizers didn't stop there.
They were furious Monday about the political signs brought by some at the rally, like an anti-Obama sign that said, "Jews Against Obama & Ahmadinejad."

Obama received over a million from troubled financial firms
Let’s start with the numbers. Why is a first term Senator pulling down almost $300,000 a year from Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG, Countrywide Financial, and Washington Mutual? He has not even completed his fourth year in the Senate and received a total of $1,093,329.00 from these eight companies and their employees. (all data from OpenSecrets.org).
John McCain’s numbers, according to OpenSecrets.org for the period 1990-2008 (i.e., 18 years worth of data) only collected $549,584.00. In other words, Barack is receiving $273,582.25 (and 2008 is not over) per year while McCain raised a paltry $30,532.44.
Want another shocker? Barack Obama has received more from one source–Goldman Sachs $542,252.00–than McCain has from all of the companies combined. Who the hell is more beholden to lobbyists? And why does a junior Senator from Illinois rate this kind of dough?

THE VIEW STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE’S, UMM, MOUTH
I’ve always appreciated the existential query as to why God made so many more horse’s asses than He made horses.
Actually, there doesn’t seem to be anything very existential about the question but since Charlie Gibson threw the word around in his interview with Governor Palin I thought I too could be pretentious and use it.
In any event, the reason for my confusion on horses and their body parts came to mind after reading some of Bill Clinton’s remarks made on “The View” and watching those five prime examples of feminine pulchritude sucking up to the former president, so to speak.
It seems the good ladies had exhausted their meanness on John McCain a few weeks back. They were veritable sitting exemplars of sweetness and light with Clinton. Nary a mean word was spake, nary a probing question was asked, and the ladies refrained from a single eyeroll that I could detect from these clips: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/bill-clinton-hi.html
Someone asked him if Hillary wanted the VP slot under Obama, and Bubba, ever the epitome of truth, said, No, but that he did believe she would have been the best pick. (Translation: Barack blew it.)
I don’t assume to be able to read the minds of Bill and Hil; I wouldn’t want to know all that goes on in those black holes anyway. But, based on past experience, I wouldn’t believe a word that either utters.
Senator Clinton may very well have accepted the veep nomination but, if she had, it wouldn’t have been out of a sense of “duty,” as Bubba claimed. The only duty either of the Clintons feel is toward the Clintons and any other responsibilities are extraneous, at best.
He also claimed that his bride ”loves being a senator for New York and has more freedom to develop her positions on the issues and her things.” He didn’t elaborate on “her things” and one can only guess at what they are. However, if she so absolutely loves her senatorial job, ...

Vote Obama, get college credits
Chaplain Kent Higgins told students in a Sept. 18 e-mail, “If you’re scared about the prospects for this election, you’re not alone. The most important way to make a difference in the outcome is to activate yourself. It would be just fine with (Republican candidate John) McCain if Obama supporters just think about helping, then sleep in and stay home between now and Election Day.”
Higgins added that an unnamed “sponsor” in the university’s history department would offer a two-credit independent study for students willing to canvass—identify supporters—or volunteer on behalf of the Democratic nominee.
University officials disavowed the effort after inquiries Monday by The Associated Press. They said it could run afoul of state ethics laws banning on-the-job political activity, as well as university policy.

OBAMA AND HIS TAINTED, ADOPTIVE TOWN, CHICAGO: PART ONE
We are all products of our heritage and products of our placement and situation in our times.
Some of us are products of our minds, as well, that is, some of us are who and what we think we are and want to be.
If we are born into difficult life situations, most of us in America scrabble and scramble to change and improve that lot in life; if we start out at the opposite end of the spectrum, Americans may try to improve it further but, at the minimum, seek to maintain their status quo.
Much has been written of the early life of Democratic presidential candidate, Senator Barack Hussein Obama, beginning with his given names and the resultant contentious debate over his middle name, especially.
Obviously, he didn’t choose his family or his names, although it should be pointed out that when he entered college he did choose to change how he wished to be addressed, from his longtime nickname of Barry to the more formal, and more Islamic, Barack.
Much has been written about Obama but not nearly as much attention has been paid to the place to which he was drawn before and after attending Yale Law School, namely America’s Second City, the Windy City and, probably, the most politically corrupt city in the nation, Chicago....

DIRECT FROM RUMOR CONTROL: BIDEN DROPS OFF TICKET!
Rudy Giuliani said that Joe Biden had better get Obama’s VP nomination in writing and the rumor mill has been percolating since the Democratic convention that somehow, some way Hillary would get the job even though Joe had the nomination.
Now it’s in from Rumor Control Central, (an authoritative doctor I know), that Joseph Beauregard Biden will shortly contract a mysterious illness and be “forced” to remove himself from the Dem ticket.
As Bubba pronounced on “The View,” (See: “Straight From the Horse’s, Umm, Mouth,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/), Hillary didn’t want the VP nomination anyway but would accept it if duty called.
Duty will soon be on the line begging Hillary to save the party, save the nation, and save Pelosi’s planet and she will grudgingly accept the call and the nod.
It all makes sense, really. An election that should have been in the bag for Obama has been slip, slip, slipping away ever since Governor Palin came on the scene. Something just had to be done to save the Obamassiah.
Biden greased his own skids when he recently said that Senator Clinton would have been the better choice and has been applying regular coatings of grease with his flubs over AIG, clean coal, asking a paraplegic in Missouri to stand, and calling an Obama ad on McCain, “terrible.”
Joe will soon be off to the showers where he will make a remarkable recovery from his ailment, on or about November 5th.
It all matters not. McCain/Palin will still trounce Obama/Clinton.
Remember, you heard it all here first. (http://genelalor.com/)

CHOOSING ABORTION OVER ISRAEL
(Please see “The Jewish Vote on November 4th,” http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/ and http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2008/09/jewish_organizations_choosing.html.)
“Death, be not proud,” wrote John Donne in the eighteenth century. Today we can say, “American Jewish organizations, be not proud.”
The brouhaha over Governor Sarah Palin’s “disinvite” to the Jewish anti-Iran rally at the U.N. apparently came down to Palin’s commitment to the pro-life movement, and the “disinviters” won.
According to Caroline Glick in the Jerusalem Post, Jewish American “Democrats threatened to bring down the organized Jewish community” over the issue and Israel be damned.
The rally was intended to protest a nuclear Iran and its very real threat to the state of Israel which Iran’s Ahmadinejad has sworn to annihilate but became so embroiled over Palin and abortion that the goal, preservation of Israel, was lost in ideology and abortion politics.
The rally was well-attended and the whole Palin affair was ignored: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1023444.html.

Obama's Campaign loses gravity as his inflated ego and resume flatten
Uncharacteristically low turnout for Barack Obama rally in Green Bay, Wisc.
McCain/Palin drew 4,000 more supporters at same venue a week ago
Recent polls have shown that Wisconsin — once pretty solidly in Obama’s column — is now a statistical dead heat between Obama and Republican John McCain.
The numbers in Wisconsin and Minnesota are getting close enough that the Obama campaign closed its 11 campaign offices in North Dakota and moved the 50 staffers there to these two states
Just a week ago, John McCain and his vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin — who can bring out crowds the way Obama can — appeared in this same stadium, Resch Center, to a crowd of 10,000 fans. There were an uncharacteristic amount of empty orange seats for Obama’s rally.
In their defense, Obama's backers note their rally was held on Monday at noon, compared to a Thursday night rally for McCain and Palin.
Plenty of residents of Illinois —- where polls show Obama comfortably ahead — are being encouraged to cross the border and join get-out-the-vote efforts in Wisconsin.

CAIR, Obsession and swing states
A U.S. Muslim advocacy group Tuesday asked the Federal Election Commission to investigate whether a nonprofit group that distributed a controversial DVD about Islam in newspapers nationwide is a "front" for an Israel-based group with a stealth goal of helping Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
The promoters of "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West" denied trying to promote any presidential campaign. They said it's also incorrect to tie the DVD campaign to Jerusalem-based educational group Aish HaTorah International, although current and former employees are involved with the project.
The Council for American-Islamic Relations asked the FEC to investigate the DVD distribution, which targeted about 28 million households mostly in battleground election states.
CAIR tries to stop the distribution of the documentary about radical Islam because they are afraid that it would influence people in swing states. They don't want McCain to win, they want Obama.

FactCheck.org rightly defended Palin, but also wrongly protects Gun Ban Obama
The summary version: FactCheck ridicules the NRA in this piece. But the NRA is careful to say: look at Obama’s record and not his rhetoric. And at least two of the NRA claims are backed up by references to Obama’s record. Yet FactCheck.org goes on to minimize or completely ignore Obama’s record on these points, choosing instead to concentrate on citations to Obama’s later campaign rhetoric.
1) FactCheck.org declares “false” the NRA’s claim that Obama plans to ban the possession, manufacture, and sale of handguns. But it emerges that this claim is directly based on Obama’s “yes” answer to a the following question in a questionnaire: “Do you support legislation to ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns?”
FactCheck.org simply faults the NRA for not noting Obama’s later attempts to explain away this answer. But FactCheck.org doesn’t address the fact that Obama falsely denied even seeing the questionnaire, only to have it later emerge that an amended version had his handwriting on it.
2) FactCheck.org calls “supported” the NRA’s claim that Obama would appoint judges who share his views on the Second Amendment. As part of their evidence, FactCheck.org tells us that Obama didn’t contest the Heller decision, which upheld an individual right to bear arms. But FactCheck.org doesn’t mention that Obama’s campaign had initially said of the D.C.’s total ban on handguns in the home: “Obama believes the D.C. handgun law is constitutional.” (Obama later tried to back away from that statement, but it is part of his record, just like his answers to the questionnaire that he had claimed he had never seen, but that turned out to bear his handwriting.)

Daily news hires fake Palin to provoke New Yorkers - but the people love her!
Star-struck voters hounded her for autographs and pictures. One guy yelled: "You're hot! But I hope you lose."
There was just one hitch: Our "Palin" was a fake! She was really a 29-year-old look-alike named Kristy Webb - and most people were fooled.
The Daily News hired Webb to walk in Palin's patent leather pumps for a day - accompanied by two fake bodyguards - to see what kind of welcome she'd get when she spends the day here Tuesday.
The verdict: Sorry, Sarah. New Yorkers can't wait to meet you - but not too many of them are going to vote for you.
Fake-Palin's clumsy attempts to greet Queens resident Isabel Rijo, 78, in Spanish couldn't squelch the enthusiasm. "I wish she was the vice president," Rijo said.
In Washington Square Park, NYU student Matt Hooper, 20, hollered "Obama '08" as faux-Palin passed.
"I'm not a fan of her policies," he told us. "In this park, I don't think she'll be very popular."
Marty Levinson, 68, let fake-Palin take a picture with his granddaughter, but only after he pinned an Obama button to the tot's shirt.
"If her parents see her with anyone who even looks like Palin," he said, "they'll strangle me."

Because only Bush Hatred is politically correct - 11-year-old suspended for anti-Obama shirt
An 11-year-old in Aurora says his first amendment rights are being trampled after he was suspended for wearing a homemade shirt that reads “Obama is a terrorist’s best friend.”
The fifth grader at Aurora Frontier K-8 School wore it on a day when students were asked to wear red, white and blue to show their patriotism.
The boy’s father Dann Dalton describes himself as a “proud conservative” who has taken part in some controversial anti-abortion protests. Dalton says the school made a major mistake by suspending his son for wearing the shirt.
“It’s the public school system,” Dalton says. “Let’s be honest, it’s full of liberal loons.”
…Aurora Public Schools would not talk about the case but said the district “Respects a student’s right to free speech, such as the right to wear specific clothing,” but administrators say they review any situation that interrupts the learning environment.

Out of mileage Obama attacks McCain on cars he owns
Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign hit Republican John McCain today over his family’s ownership of foreign cars, saying it would air a TV ad in Michigan highlighting McCain’s statements on buying American.
But the ad, which accuses McCain of misleading Michigan voters by saying he’s bought American vehicles “literally all my life,” doesn’t say that of the 13 vehicles owned by the McCain family, only one is registered to McCain himself – a 2004 Cadillac CTS built in Lansing.
The 12 other vehicles include a 2005 Volkswagen convertible, a 2001 Honda sedan, a 2007 Ford half-ton pickup and three Gem neighborhood electric vehicles – essentially road-worthy golf carts built by a Chrysler subsidiary.
“But the Senator drives a Cadillac and Obama is just trying to divert attention away from Sen. McCain’s record that he wants to help the auto industry bounce back,” Hoekstra added. “He has a serious policy agenda that will allow us to compete on a global basis.”

Looks like Joe Biden, in his interview with Katie Couric, was copying off the wrong classmate’s exam again. He said (video here):
“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘look, here’s what happened.’”
My recollection is that the stock market crash was in 1929. Two problems here: Television did not even exist in 1929, and FDR was elected in 1932, so he wasn’t even the leader at the time of the crash. When Joe was in history class, was he cheating by looking over the class dunce’s shoulder, or does he just make this stuff up? Of course, TV celebrity Katie Couric also didn’t note that Biden’s statement was doubly incorrect. Her goal was a softball puff piece.”

Even Bloomberg rightly puts blame on Dems for housing crisis
If that bill had become law, then the world today would be different. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, a blizzard of terrible mortgage paper fluttered out of the Fannie and Freddie clouds, burying many of our oldest and most venerable institutions. Without their checkbooks keeping the market liquid and buying up excess supply, the market would likely have not existed.
But the bill didn't become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic
But we now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.
Throughout his political career, Obama has gotten more than $125,000 in campaign contributions from employees and political action committees of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, second only to Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman, who received more than $165,000.
Clinton, the 12th-ranked recipient of Fannie and Freddie PAC and employee contributions, has received more than $75,000 from the two enterprises and their employees. The private profit found its way back to the senators who killed the fix.
There has been a lot of talk about who is to blame for this crisis. A look back at the story of 2005 makes the answer pretty clear.
Oh, and there is one little footnote to the story that's worth keeping in mind while Democrats point fingers between now and Nov. 4: Senator John McCain was one of the three cosponsors of S.190, the bill that would have averted this mess.

Update on Obama's Nigerian brother - still living in mud
George Obama, a 26 year old man lives in Huruma estate in a dingy he calls a house. In fact its not a dingy but a single room with a foul stench of stale cigarette and fresh pot smoke. I was short of words; I was shocked and repulsive at the environment a brother to a man who might one day become the most powerful man in the world lives. Huruma is sprawling slum laden estate. Flies, dirty as they are, fly allover, women and children everywhere, dirty and unkempt wander here.
