I rarely remember my dreams, but for the past week, GOP vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has been haunting me. Night after night, she appears in my dreams, always as a scolding, ominous figure.

When I mentioned my Palin dreams to Slate colleagues, they volunteered their own. One Obama-supporting colleague dreamed she had urged her young son to kill Palin with a string bean. Another dreamed she was at a fashion show and Palin served her crème fraîche on little scooped corn chips. A third says, "In the Sarah Palin dream I keep having, she has superhuman powers but is not really a person at all. In fact, she is more like the weather with glasses and an up-do, pushing clouds around and pitching lightning bolts."

I realize that at least some “gays” don’t wish to convert or be saved and consider such efforts as discriminatory but why oppose those who wish to convert them, unless they have sincere doubts as to their life choice?

Governor Palin hasn’t commented publically on the issue so it seems to me this is just another effort to unfairly isolate her in an anti-homosexual corner in order to win votes for Obama. Since he has the "gay" vote locked up anyway, why all the fuss?

Sarah Palin’s firm opposition to abortion and her status as a mother of five prompted a Vatican official to describe the Republican vice president nominee as a “dream candidate.”

Increasing numbers of Americans, particularly the young, are growing sympathetic to the pro-life cause, say Burke and others, which may bode well for the Republican Party.

Without getting into the details of his edits, all it takes is a glance at Ewen’s recent contributions to determine that his edit summaries are highly uncivil, which is always a red flag.

The smoking ban in city parks could be lifted for the second time since it passed three years ago, as city leaders are considering allowing medical marijuana patients to light up during a festival at San Lorenzo Park at the end of the month.

The manner in which the traffic checkpoints are carried out in the City of Pomona has created a state of concern and discontent in a substantially large portion of the Pomona Community.

The checkpoints have fomented distrust and fear towards the police among many people. The checkpoints also negatively impact local businesses which depend on the patronage of families and individuals of modest economic resources.

Thus, in this manner, the checkpoints are a grave threat to the stability of the local economy, and social harmony within the community, which includes not only the City of Pomona but the other neighboring cities as well.
