Girl Scouts Learn a Lesson in Generosity

Michelle Walsh, den mother of a second-grade Girl Scout troop, has learned a lesson in the difference between Republican and Democrat generosity:

Walsh said she called both campaigns and asked for free trinkets she could give the 7-year-olds to help them learn. If they did well, she explained, each Scout would earn her "Ms. President" patch. The tchotchkes would provide added incentive.
A representative for John McCain responded immediately, sending Walsh a box filled with stickers and signs.
The Barack Obama camp wasn't quite so generous, Walsh said.
The troop leader said she called Obama's Chicago campaign headquarters and explained why she needed the curios. Walsh said she was directed to Obama's Web site — where she could buy all the buttons and posters she wanted. […] Walsh found the prices a bit exorbitant.

Obamatrons have only raised $400 million, so they have to pinch every penny.

Republicans tend to be more generous with what belongs to them. In contrast, Democrats are more generous with what belongs to you.

Dosen't surprise me a bit. Pres. Bush, accroding to his 2007 IRS forms gave approximately $165,000 form his $700,000, or a whopping 24% of his income. Hussein on the other hand, donated just a paltry $240,000 from his $4,000,000 earnings, or a Scrooge-like 5.9%. I guess conservatives/republicans just care about humanity more than the blowhards, no nothing dems. I love that.

This reminds me of the Maryland Governors race a few years back, when Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's campaign would SELL you a bumper sticker. You did not see many of those bumper stickers.

van - i did a post on charitable giving a couple of years ago - indeed, the poorest of states are the most giving and also tend to vote conservative.

the left talks the talk but refuses to walk the talk.

Republicans tend to be more generous with what belongs to them. In contrast, Democrats are more generous with what belongs to you.

And they are so self-rigtheous about it. They are better people for wanting to give away your money, while keeping every dime they can for themselves. Except "charitable" donations to political action groups that run commercials that trash America. Then they can be generous with their "donations".

Even then, they try to do it through government front organizations (like Valerie Plame did when she was undercover with her important CIA front business, that apparently existed for the sole purpose of making clandestine donations to the Gore campaign--critical for national security) or through GSEs like Fannie Mac and Freddie Mae. It's amazing to see the donations that go to lefty 527s, and all the money that isn't from George Soros seems somehow to be either tax payer money (received by other organizations via grants, or other forms of laundering) or union dues. Heck, I take it back--even when they want to be charitable with their leftist front groups, they still want to spend our money.
